The aim of the study is to examine factors influencing students? feelings of pleasure or pain associated with school mathematics. Own experience of students? frustration about mathematics and concern about students not reaching desired goals is the driving force in this study. It contributes with knowledge from the students' perspective.

Since the late 50th century, the automobile has been normative in the Swedish society (Lundin 2008). This has led to an urban environment deeply characterized by the motor vehicle and its necessities, while other means of transportation, such as train and bicycle, have been ignored and put aside. However, over the past decades, a new trend has been seen in urban planning as a consequence of the increasing knowledge of the negative qualities caused by the car. As a result, the bicycle is seen as a conceivable transport mode.This thesis examines cycling on four issues:- Why is there a need of more cyclists? - How can the total number of cyclists as well as the number of satisfied cyclists increase? - Which factors affect the choice of transport mode? - Which factors affect the choice of route?The first two questions are discussed from a literature study that was conducted at the beginning of the thesis.

South Africa has been among the top ten wine producing countries for at least 20 years. Even though the land under grapevines is decreasing globally it is still increasing in Africa. The awareness of environment has strengthen the last years and South African producers experience a high demand of environmentally friendly produced wine, especially from the European market. This demand was the driving force behind the development of the world unique sustainability certification, Integrated Production of Wine (IPW), which is inscribed in the South African legislation. What makes this certification unique is that consumers can trace their product all the way back to the farming practices owing to the identity number specified on the IPW Integrity & Sustainability seal on certified products.

One of the distinguishing features of successful societies is the ability to adapt to change, bothsocial but also natural changes like climate change. Climate change is a complex, dynamic,non-linear process with a great deal of uncertainty concerning the time perspective, risks andconsequences. A combination of factors like climate change, geographical vulnerability, adensely populated and highly built up coast line along with factors like deficient handling ofsurface runoff and a large usage of ground water leads to an increasingly vulnerable society. Italso puts a greater pressure on the society to have preventive measures in place.The number of actors working with preparing society to the expected impacts of climatechange and variability is increasing. However more than half of Sweden?s municipalities donot consider changing climatic conditions when planning, and many times even allow theconstruction of new living areas in known climatically vulnerable areas.

Industries with energy costs as a large proportion of their total costs are greatly affected by the instruments deployed to cope with the Swedish climate and energy policy goals. With energy costs representing more than 30 % of the total costs, tomato cultivators are one of the affected industries. In order to remain competitive with other countries, a more resource- and cost-efficient cultivation of tomatoes in greenhouses is desirable in Sweden. Based on the concept of industrial symbiosis, this study investigates the prerequisites for a resource-efficient production of locally grown tomatoes in Sweden through the utilization of low grade industrial waste heat. The study is based on the foundry industry as the supplier of waste heat.To investigate the environmental, technical and economic potential of the exchange of waste heat, a comparative life cycle assessment, an inventory of the supply of industrial waste heat in Sweden, a compilation of potential technologies for the recovery of low grade industrial waste heat for heating greenhouses and a comparative life-cycle cost calculation were carried out.

Under 1980-talet introducerades den första tågsimulatorn i svensk lokförarutbildning. Denna simulator är fortfarande den enda fullskalesimulator som används för att utbilda lokförare i Sverige. En anledning till att det inte finns fler tycks vara att det bl.a. saknas pedagogiska och ekonomiska motiv för en utvidgad användning av simulatorer i undervisning och träning. The vegetable production in Sweden is concentrated to the very southern parts of the country. This is also were the major wholesalers are located. In recent years, there has been an extreme focus on price on the food market. As there are only a few big wholesalers and also very few food retail chains, these have a great impact on the producers. The pressure from prominent vegetable-producing countries, providing low price products, such as the Netherlands and Spain is strong.

Certification systems, that assess companies? work with social and environmental issues, have emerged in an increasing number of industries. Today, there are environmental certifications for the food industry, the forestry, the fisheries sector and several more. In apparel industry, certification for sustainable working conditions has been of major impact. The property sector is no exception from other industries.

Hygien- och pappersföretaget SCA utvecklade under 1980-90-talet Luna, ett absorberande material som främst kom att användas i feminina hygienprodukter. SCA har en ambition att bredda försäljningen till nya marknader och syftet med denna undersökning var att identifiera nya marknadssegment och applikationsområden för affärsområdet Luna, samt utvärdera dessa områdens relativa attraktionskraft. Undersökningen inleddes med en idégenereringsprocess där förslag på applikationsområden togs fram och en inledande marknadsanalys genomfördes där produktkoncepten utvärderades enligt den produktutvecklingsmodell som valts för detta arbete. I denna process utvärderades Lunas potential som ett substitut till kattsand samt odlingsbädd för anläggning av gräsmattor. Aktörer och kunder på olika nivåer i en potentiell försörjningskedja identifierades och intervjuades och deras uppfattning om produktens värde utvärderades.

Järnvägsindustrin har under många år varit ett verksamhetsområde där utvecklingen mer ellermindre stått still. I dag har progressen dock åter börjat röra på sig. Tågoperatörer runt om ivärlden satsar på snabbare fordon i syfte att vinna marknadsandelar från såväl flyg- somvägtransporter. I kampen om kunden vill man dock fortfarande inom järnvägsbranschenbibehålla den miljövänliga position, i förhållande till andra färdmedel, som tågtransport i allatider haft. Tillsammans med utvecklingen av nyare snabbare fordon finns det därför, i dagsläget, ett stort intresse för energieffektivisering/resursbesparing.SJ AB har under många år bedrivit projekt för att minska tågens förbrukning av elektricitet.Då företaget, under gången tid, varit föremål för åtskilliga omorganisationer hareffektiviseringsarbetet inte alltid kunnat bedrivas så resultatrikt som ambitionen eftersträvat.Avsikten med detta examensarbete är att sammanställa genomförda samt påtänkta aktiviteter inom området för SJs energieffektivisering.

Urvalet av företag och produkter på Internet ökar och har gett konsumenten större valmöjligheter när de handlar på Internet. Internet har blivit ett bekvämligt sätt för konsumenten att handla på eftersom företagen alltid finns tillgängliga.

SUMMARY The interest of horses in the riding sector has increased the last decades. A large amount of horses are transported in a 1 or 2-horse trailer, which is pulled by a car. Today a large number of different products and designs of trailers can be found on the market. The difference in shaping of trailers depends on tradition and experience. There are no detailed directions on the demands for shaping of horse trailers today. The literature review contains a market analysis of both Swedish and imported horse trailers.
