Bevarande av dagstidningar i Sverige en probleminventering

The main purpose of this thesis has been to identify and discuss problems connected with the preservation of Newspapers in Sweden. Another purpose was to see if the preservation of Newspapers has been influenced by the fact that preservation studies in general concerns printed monographs and digital materials. This qualitative study is partly based upon interviews with four librarians experienced in working with Newspapers and preservation. The thesis deals with cultural heritage in general and on a more specific level with Newspapers where the following questions are dealt with: Why preserve? Who preserves? How to preserve? and What is preserved? Strategies used for preserving Newspapers such as paper, microfilming and digitization are described as well as legal deposit, the Swedish microfilming programme and TIDEN, a digitization project of Newspapers.

Newspapers have undergone big changes with the progress of Internet and the Newspapers establishment on the Internet. This adjustment to the Internet has resulted in differences between the content in Newspapers and Web news sites. A quantitative content analysis and questions to Web authorities have been used in this study to describe what these differences are. During three days, three different Newspapers were analysed and the conclusion was that many of the articles that were published in the Newspapers also could be found in the Newspapers Web versions. At the same time a lot of the articles on the Web news sites were not published in the Newspapers.

This essay is about integration's discourses in Newspapers. It compares four different Newspapers with each other and it compares them also in a time perspective. The four different Newspapers that the essay compares are Aftonbladet, Svenska Dagbladet, Dagens Nyheter and Expressen. These are Swedish Newspapers and they are distributed all over the country. The time perspective is a two months period, one month in the year 1994 and one month in the year 2002.

The purpose of this BA-thesis was to study how three daily Swedish Newspapers use a specific type of exemplars, which are recognized by a number of attributes. A photograph of the person that is interviewed always illustrates this type of exemplars and at least two persons are asked the same question.    The three Newspapers that have been compared in this study each represent one of the major types of Swedish Newspapers: morning press, tabloids and local press. By using a quantitative content analysis, one month was examined in all three Newspapers in the year of 1997 and 2007.  Two of the theories that have been central in the thesis are Colin Sparks model of tabloidization, which demonstrates the process of tabloidization and McQuail?s description of commercialization.

This BA Thesis in Journalism is a quantitative analysis of the coverage of wolves in Swedish printed media. Namely four daily Newspapers, two national and two local. The two national Newspapers are Aftonbladet which is a leading tabloid newspaper with national coverage and Svenska Dagbladet which is one of the two major Newspapers with national coverage, as well as coverage of the greater Stockholm region. The two local Newspapers are Falu Kuriren, which is located in Falun and mainly cover the province of Dalarna and Nya Wermlands-tidningen which is located in Karlstad and mainly cover the province of Värmland. These are provinces which have a large wolf population. As the work progressed we found that the Newspapers have handled the coverage of the wolf in, what we believe, a good way.

Det är ju nästan krig

This paper intends to examine how two Newspapers, one local and one national newspaper, reported the gang-related homicides in Malmo in 2011, and compares these two news reports to see if there are any similarities and differences. Another aspect of this study is to elucidate how these two Newspapers constitute Malmo as a city. Fairclough?s critical discourse analysis is applied in this study, where I analyze the two Newspapers? news coverage based on their content. The content is analyzed by studying the text?s vocabulary, grammar, cohesion, structure, transitivity and modality. One similarity is the use of objective modalities, where both Newspapers have a tendency to make interpretations and speculations as fact.

KONUNGAVÄLDE ELLER FOLKVÄLDE? Kristen press om rösträttsreformen 1907-11 och borggårdskrisen 1914

This paper seeks to clarify the attitudes and positions of five Swedish ChristianNewspapers in relation to the Suffrage reform (1907-11) and the Courtyardcrisis (1914). Furthermore I try to investigate the reasons behind their attitudesand positions. The five Newspapers examined are: Göteborgs Stifts-Tidning,Församlingsbladet, Vår Lösen, Svenska Morgonbladet and Wecko-Posten.The results of my research show both convergence and divergence. Commonfor the Newspapers is their criticism of the political agitation on the basisof ethics and that they all, except for Göteborgs Stifts-Tidning, recognizedemocratic principles. Divergence is evident, for example, in the reactions tothe consequences of the Courtyard crisis.I have distinguished three main factors that may help to explain the attitudesand positions of the Newspapers?: nationalism versus internationalism, confessionalism and polarized political positions, and have found that the conceptof a ?Christian press? can be defended as well as put into question.

The purpose of this thesis is to describe and understand the existing factors behind the selection of foreign Newspapers in Swedish public libraries. We wanted to study this subject because the political situation in many countries is reflected in the Newspapers and can cause difficulties in the selection process. Examples of this can be how to avoid Newspapers with political propaganda and with censored content. Another reason for our interest in this subject is based on our prejudice that Newspapers from other countries are important for people with foreign background. To answer the question we have conducted qualitative interviews with five persons who are responsible for the purchase of foreign Newspapers at four libraries.

AbstractIn the past decades the newspaper industry went through many changes but it has never had a problem of this kind. With the freedom the Internet brings us today and the wide range of information channels, the newspaper is for the first time seriously challenged. When the Newspapers began to establish themselves on the internet they thought it was only to copy the content of the newspaper on to their webpage and the advertisers would come along. This move was not planed and had no vision. When the advertisers discovered Internets wide range of advertisement platforms they started to look for other places they could put their ads. This thesis is about the local Newspapers ability to address the problem that the internet has created. I based my study on the following issues:Why has internet caused this problem for the Newspapers? What are the prerequisites for local Newspapers when they face challenges from the internet? How have the advertisers acted after the emergence of this challenge? To answer these questions I did qualitative interviews with different personalities within the newspaper industry, two local newspaper executives and two professors in media economics. In conclusion the result shows that there are different opinions regarding these questions and different views of how to solve them.

When the Internet was established in the early 1990`s the daily press got a new market to act on. Storstadsmorgontidningars förhållande till annonsörer En kvalitativ intervjuundersökning

This bachelor thesis focuses on metropolitan morning Newspapers in Sweden and their relationship with advertisers. Various forces in society have led tochanges in partnerships between metropolitan Newspapers and advertisers, which have previously only had small amounts of data. In these particularNewspapers, it is common to find editorial advertisement supplements. The reason these supplements are included, their benefits and how they can affect the paper?s credibility have not previously been investigated.I have researched how the changed collaborations between the metropolitan morning Newspapers and advertisers look today; including the contact, powerand dependence they have on one another.

On the 15th of May 2011 the former leader of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, was accused of sexually assaulting a maid in a hotel room in New York. Strauss-Kahn was cleared of all charges on the 23rd of August 2011 since it could not be proven that he had forced the maid to have sexual relations with him.The purpose of this study is to examine how the case was framed in two Swedish Newspapers, Svenska Dagbladet and Aftonbladet. The purpose of this study is also to find differences and similarities in the framing of the case in broadsheet Newspapers and tabloid Newspapers. The study is primarily based on two different theories; the framing theory and the tabloidization theory. 2010 was the year of the wedding between Sweden?s crown princess Victoria and Daniel Westling.
