Bortglömda nyheter : En pilotstudie om hågkomsten av nyheterna i Dagens eko kvart i fem

In this essay a pilot study on the memory of Swedish Public Service radio News is presented. 30 subjects participated in the study, which was performed during three days, 18 to 20 of November 2013. The material which formed the basis for the study consisted three Newscasts of Sweden's most popular radio Newscast ?Dagens eko?, which is broadcasted live at 16.45 every day in the Public Service channels SR P1 and SR P4. The subjects listened to the broadcasts each day, and their memory of them was tested the day after each broadcast.The aim of the thesis is to find out which properties of the audience that affect how much ? and what parts ? of a Newscast that the audience remember.

This paper is based on a quantitative survey. The study aims to answer the questionwhich media young people rather use to take part of the News. The results showthat young people today in Kalmar preferably and often read Newspapers on theInternet and mobile phone.The questions asked was about which media they usually use, the level ofconfidence they had in various media, how interest was in different Newscategories, willingness to pay for online News and background issues relatedsubjects. The survey was aimed at high school students in Kalmar and weredistributed and collected on-site at the schools. What was remarkable among theresponses was that young people largely had access to a morning Newspaper athome and said that they would consider subscribing to one in the future.

The study has answered the questions to what extent people with disabilities are involved in SVT- and TV4- News reports and how people with disabilities are represented in News reports. The material is based on 140 News items.The study has demonstrated that News reports SVT and TV4 have different grades of misconceptions about disabled people. Disabled people are constantly being reinforced by negative disabling terms, the disability being of central importance for the News broadcast and they still occur in stereotypical depictions. Through the image of disabled people forms the bed-rock on which the attitudes towards, assumptions and expectations of disabled people are based on. They are fundamental to discrimination and exploitation that people with disabilities face on a daily basis, and contributes significantly to their systematic exclusion from mainstream society.

Nyhetsradio : Om skillnaderna i korta riksnyhetssändningar mellan två kommersiella radiostationer och public serviceradion.

The purpose of this BA-thesis was to learn the differences in News broadcasts between one public service radio channel and two commercial radio channels. To do this we used a quantitative analysis method to examine the content of the News broadcasts and then we conducted in-depth interviews with several people working with the different radio channels using a qualitative research interview method to learn their views on News and News broadcasting.We measured the differences between the channels in six areas: subject, headline, News presentation, gender, advertising and sources.Our two main theories were normative theory and media logic.The results found that there were several major differences between the public service radio channel and the two commercial radio channels. Apart from several important differences in the six measured categories we also found that the sound and tone in the public service radio channel was very different from the two commercial radio channels.We also found the public service radio channels News broadcasts to be more serious than the two commercials ones?..

Varför var det så svårt? : En flermetodsanalys av läsbarhet av nyhetsartiklar i Dagens Nyheter under 15 år

The aim of this study was to examine the readability of News articles published in the Swedish national Newspaper Dagens Nyheter during the years 1999 - 2013. Our hypothesis was that the written language in Newspapers is simpler today than it was 15 years ago. To measure the possible change of the written language in a quantitative study we chose to use a method to calculate the readability of 30 News articles, two from each year. We could not see any development of the language level so we chose to do a complementary qualitative study of the layout and presentation of the News articles. This secondary study showed a significant change in how News is presented throughout the years.

Current research materials that meet the study´s purpose has been applied in databases and analyzed.
