This thesis is based on an exhibition at the county museum Upplandsmuseet in Uppsala, Sweden. During an internship at this museum I got a chance to produce an exhibition, with some guidance from the museum staff. This exhibition was created with the purpose of teaching about agriculture in the late 19th century and also about the magnificent workmanship of Alrik Klingberg, who have carved these wooden objects for over 50 years. Each one of the objects possesses a story and a memory. The memories that Alrik Klingberg has incorporated into the objects are mainly from his childhood at a croft in northern Uppland.

This bachelor thesis consists of an analysis of museum environment. In the research, case studies have been done at the, Stockholm based museums, Swedish museum of Natural history?s exhibition Natur i Sverige (Nature in Sweden) and the Nordiska museet?s (Nordic history) exhibition Modemakt (Power of fashion) and learning environment Lekstugan (playhouse). The purpose of the research was to study how cultural heritage is used and developed within the museum pedagogy aimed at children. The research is based on a multimodal approach with focus on learning resources.The research examines the museums focus on children and youngsters, what the goals for this focus looks like on respective museum and how the focus is visible in the actual museums.

Bishop Alois Hudal is a man who is often mentioned when the relationship between the Vatican and the national socialistic Germany of 1933-1945 is discussed. In these cases he is usually presented as a Nazi and sometimes even called ?the brown Bishop?. One of the contributing factors for this infamous title, perhaps the most contributing, is the Bishops book Die Grundlagen des Nationalsozialismus. National Socialism is a Weltanschauung with a certain set of doctrines that is hard, or rather impossible, to combine with any other Weltanschauung, whether it is a philosophical or a religious one.

The purpose of this essay is to study the film culture in South Africa in a national cinema-context, focusing on the relationship between anti-apartheid film from 1974-1994 and the film in South Africa today. By pitching the South Africa-specific works of Lucia Saks and Jacqueline Maingard against the over-arching debate on national cinema as formulated by, amongst others, Stephen Crofts and Andrew Higson, this study aims to find whether or not a specific South African national cinema have existed, and exists today, or not. The study finds that an underground culture of documentaries and short films made by and for the black population has been in place since the apartheid, and the distribution method on video and television is still being used to reach the black population today. By re-examining the concepts of both the national, and of national cinema to also include film on video and television, the study shows that South Africa has indeed a film culture that can be called a national cinema..

This masters thesis concerns three different types of cataloguing within three different memory institutions museums, archives and libraries. The focus lies on the cataloguing elements which are compared in order to illuminate similarities and differences. The Regional Archive and The National museum of World Cultures - both in Gothenburg - were chosen and compared to KRS, the Swedish counterpart to the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, AACR2, 2: nd ed. The purpose of this comparison is partly to display the elements in order to make students disciplines, but also the staff within archives, libraries and museums to become conscious of each others cataloguing methods in regard to future cooperations within the memory institutions and to see if it is possible to create common cataloguing rules for archives, libraries and museums. Museums are a part of the cultural sector that over the last couple of years had to compete with the steadily growing consumption of spectacles. New techniques to attract and amaze the visitors have evolved. Living History Museums has developed a method to simulate past times by building up an environment with reconstructions. History is a non-definite science, there will never be an exact answer to how it really was, for example during the Middle Ages.This essay deals with the difference between reconstructions and authentic artefacts and how they build up an illusion of the past. In what sense does it matter if the artefacts are genuine or not? How do these museums deal with anachronistic phenomena from today's modern world in the historic environment? Additionally I discuss whether or not these reconstructions - of environment, buildings and personal characters - have any influence on the historic narrative given by the museum.

Att jag valde att skriva ett arbete om lärande på museum och dess relevans grundar sig i mitt eget intresse för museum som jag alltid haft. Jag har alltid uppskattat ett museibesök och alltid känt att det varit givande. Därför ville jag med detta arbete ta reda på, med hjälp av Gamla Uppsala museum, hur de arbetar mot förskolan och vad som ses som relevant för dessa barn. Jag vill ta reda på hur de arbetar och vad de har för syfte bakom det lärande det vill förmedla till barnen. För att ta reda på detta samlade jag på mig tidigare forskning om detta ämne och läste in mig på vad museipedagogik innebär.

The project objective was to make parts of our cultural heritage available as a resource for learning, by developing the pedagogical activities on a medieval castle, that today functions as a museum. I also wanted to explore the role of a designer in a process that aims to develop the interaction between schools and cultural institutions.By a selection of objects and locations in the castle, illustrations with accompanying texts were made, which through the children?s imaginative ability may bring them to a historical scenario. This resulted in a working material that supports the children?s activities and reflections during their visit to the castle.

The aim of this thesis is to describe and evaluate the usability of two Swedish systems, Sofie and Carlotta, which are used to organize and present data regarding museum objects on the web. This thesis also presents how objects are described and made accessible to the public in the two systems. To evaluate the usability, a heuristic method combined with Systematic Usability Evaluation has been used. The description and accessibility of object representations in the systems are evaluated using indexing and classification theories from the field of Library and Information Science. Additional theoretical background that has been used is how users search and browse information systems.

This thesis is a report of the practical aspects and the problems of classification and documentation of a collection of memorabilias from the Crown Princess Couple's Wedding in Stockholm 2010. The collection contains 38 objects collected by Nordiska museet [The Nordic Museum], Sweden's largest museum of cultural history. Nordiska museet has a total collection of over 1,5 million items collected since 1873. My ambition in this thesis has been to describe my work with the classification and documentation of these new objects and their context. One of the main problems was how to combine the modern objects with the old existing collection within the two classification systems used at the museum.

Teknikämnet har, sedan det fick en egen kursplan, åsidosatts i skolorna. Deltagande observationer och intervjuer med lärare verksamma i varierade åldersgrupper, visade samma resultat gällande tankar kring teknikundervisningen som de uppfattningar som litteraturstudien visat. Det framgår att många lärare inte uppfattar sin ämneskompetens som tillräcklig och att de inte vet hur de ska förhålla sig till ämnet i undervisningen. Resultaten av dessa studier ligger till grund för ett läromedel, bestående av en elevbok och en lärarhandledning, som utgår både från Lpfö 98 och centrala innehållet för år 1-3 och 4-6 ur kursplanen i teknik i Lgr 11..
