In the Maasai Mara National Reserve the native people, the Maasai, have lived for a long time following their own traditions. Their traditional lifestyle is that of a nomadic people, leading their cattle to the best grazing. Sharing their land with a large variation of different animals, one of them being the African Elephant (Loxodonta africana), the Maasi people have since long adapted to a life side by side with these giants, as well as the fierce predators living in the area.The aim of this study is to determine whether the Maasai settlement, known as Boma, has any impact on the elephants in the surrounding area. In order to conclude whether the bomas has an impact or not, observations of the wildlife were carried out. Observations were conducted in two different seasons, in December 2003 and May/June in 2004.

Studiens syfte var att undersöka kriminalvårdens centrala riktlinjer för psykisk ohälsa bland anstaltsklienter och om dessa riktlinjer realiseras i praktiskt arbete på två olika avdelningar: normalavdelning och behandlingsavdelning på en anstalt av högsta säkerhetsklass i Sverige. Data samlades in genom intervjuer med åtta kriminalvårdare och en psykolog. Resultatet visade att psykisk ohälsa ur ett personalperspektiv är vanligt förekommande, främst ADHD, depression, ångest och sömnsvårigheter. Majoriteten av respondenterna visste inte om vilka riktlinjer som finns vid behandling av klienters psykiska ohälsa. Slutsatsen är att det råder brister i kommunikationen mellan ledningen och kriminalvårdarna inom anstalten..

This aim is broken down into two questions.How are the Sweden Democrats (SD) voters constructed in news articles in Dagens Nyheter (DN) and Aftonbladet (AB) regarding the aftermath of the national elections?What differences are there between the portrayal of the Sweden Democrats voters and the agents that are used as opposition to them?To answer these questions we have used CDA. We have taken our approach from a modified version of Teun Van Dijks CDA model for analysing news articles.

This is a qualitative study about child poverty within the school environment. The purpose is to examine how financial resources can affect the social standings of teenagers and how that affects them in school; how the school system view and work with child poverty as well as how they act within the legal framework that requires the school to be free of charge. This was done through analyzing earlier research and conducting five interviews with personnel at three schools for children ages 13-15. Our results show that social standing can be affected by a lack of financial resources, partially due to not having certain mobile phones or brand clothing, partially because they cannot afford to join in on social activities. Furthermore, teenagers view child poverty as shameful and a risk factor for social exclusion.

The importance of daylight for humans has been known for a rather long time. Applying this knowledge in the science of urban planning is not very common, at least not in Stockholm, Sweden. Living in a country far from the equator with great differences between daylight and darkness during the year, daylight gets even more important for our wellbeing. This study aims to highlight the subject of daylight planning and contribute to the discussion about how to include daylight in the process of urban planning. By critically observing a new built district in Stockholm and applying guidelines of how to use daylight planning, this paper shows how important it is to include daylight planning early in the process.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate whether the test tools TestComplete and LoadComplete provide sufficient compatibility for functional and non-functional testing of Ipendo Systems? Montagu´s harrier (Circus pygargus) is a diurnal, Eurasian raptor, which migrates from its northern breeding grounds to winter in sub-Saharan Africa. In Sweden, its core breeding area is centred on the island of Öland, with a stable breeding population of approximately 40 pairs. The province of Uppland is on the northern end the distribution range, where 4-8 pairs have regularly bred since the 1980s. The task of this project was to build an computer processing system for pressureregulation, in which the pressure loss over the open hydrolicvalve should be kept as low as possible. By using an cross connected proportional directional valve the valve problem could be solved. The control- and regulationproblem for the pressureregulation system was solved by using the DAQ- card NI6035E from National Instruments and the computerprogram Automatic Pressure Control 1.0 which has been software developed and written in Visual Basic. Pirater är ett ämne som berör många med anknytning till sjöfarten. Det har tagits upp en del i media under de senaste åren då det har skickats ner militära fartyg till Adenviken för att bekämpa pirater.Syftet med undersökningen är att få fram vad Svenska rederier vidtar för åtgärder för att motverka piratattacker. Följer rederierna de gällande riktlinjer som finns? För att få svar på frågeställningen har vi använt oss av en kvalitativ metod. Den information som är till grund för resultatet har samlats in från fyra olika personer som ansvarat för säkerheten på respektive rederis fartyg.

Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att sammanställa vetenskaplig kunskap om hälso- och sjukvårdspersonals attityder gentemot handhygien. Resultatet baseras på 10 st vetenskapliga artiklar. Resultatet visar att sjukvårdspersonal har en positiv attityd till handhygien vid patientkontakt eller vid exposition av kroppsvätska. Däremot finns en negativ attityd vid användandet av handskar, tro att handhygien orsakar hudirritation och när handhygiensmedel ej finns lättillgängligt. Personalens attityder påverkas av vilken kunskap de har och deras arbetsledares åsikter gällande handhygien.
