Kör så det ryker! - En studie om prestationsångest i samband med ensembleundervisning

Title: Go for it! - A study of anxiety in relation to students performing in ensemble class.This study discusses anxiety in relation to students in ensemble performance. The expectations on Musicians are extremely high and demanding. They are expected to perform to the maximum of their ability despite both physical and mental pressure. I present in this study the result of the interviews I have performed with three students at Swedish Academies of Music. The study shows that all of the students included are in one way or the other suffering from anxiety in relation to performance.

Klart ungen gillar musik - En studie om föräldrars syn på sitt barns musikaliska utveckling

Barns musikaliska intresse och utveckling kan bero på föräldrarnas påverkan genom uppväxten. I den här rapporten presenteras resultatet av kvalitativa intervjuer med sex mammor med barn i en ålder under två år. Tre av mammorna ägnar sig åt musik i sin profession, medan de andra tre har ett mer allmänt musikintresse. Oberoende av föräldrarnas bakgrund visar det sig att de anser musikalisk stimulering vara någonting viktig och nyttig för deras barns utveckling. Till exempel har alla i intervjugruppen deltagit i någon form av musikalisk aktivitet ämnad för barn.

Mästarlära - Om relationen lärare-elev i enskild musikundervisning

Title: The social relation between student & teacher in individual music education. The aim of this study is to examine the relevance of the social relation between teacher and student in instrumental tuition in non-compulsory music education. The method I have used is qualitative interview inspired by phenomenology. I have made interviews with four persons who have experienced individual singing/instrumental studies on several different levels. In this paper I wish to shed light on what people who have experienced many years of singing/instrumental studies are telling about the social relation to their former pedagogues.

Improvisationsundervisning i olika musikgenrer? - Fyra pedagogers undervisningsmetoder i improvisation

Title: Teaching improvisation in different musical genres My curiosity for teaching improvisation in different genres emerged when I started playing with Musicians who had another musical background than my own. I wanted to acquire a better understanding of what improvisation means to them and how improvisation is taught in their genre. The aim of this study is to gain insight into four pedagogues' methods of teaching improvisation. The four pedagogues represent the genres of jazz, blues, organ music and folk music. I chose these four genres for two reasons.

The main aim of my research essay is to examine two congregations, one in Sweden and one in Democratic Republic of Congo, how theology and the life in the church shape the cultural context. The analysis uses semi-structured interviews of two pastors responsible for organizing the Easter celebration in their churches. The interviews serve the purpose to reveal how they apply theology in their context, how they interpret the Easter celebration liturgically in relation to the early church and how they perceive the cultural development in the congregations Easter celebration 2010-11. To give complementary insights to the interviews I use computer-aided interviews with members of the congregations. The methodological approach is based on a study of contextual theological theories, Easter traditions in the early church, Easter theologies and then applying these theories in the interviews.

Vogler och pergolesis stabat mater: En väg till historiskt informerad uppförandepraxis

The author is active as a musician in the field of historically informed performance practice (HIP) which emanated from the 20th century early music movement. Studying of historical sources has a central role, but the problem of how interpretation and selection of source material is affected by art and music ideals of our time, is commonly acknowledged. Georg Joseph Vogler shows in a series of articles in "Betrachtungen der Mannheimer Tonschule" (1778-1781) how Stabat Mater by Pergolesi could, and in his opininon, should be improved. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how this source can be used from the standpoint of a performing musician: How can I use Vogler?s methods in my playing?The introduction problematizes Vogler?s action in relation to his time, and to ours.

Kognitiva övningar för trummisar - En studie i hur trumsetselever påverkas av expressiva samt mentala övningar och vilken inverkan mentala övningar och förberedelser har för professionella trummisar

Syftet med arbetet är att ta reda på hur trummisar kan lösa mentala blockeringar i sitt musikutövande. I mitt arbete vill jag belysa vikten av expressivt spel och vikten av mentala aspekter i musikutövandet. Det är viktigt att arbeta med mentala "övningar" precis som det är viktigt med praktiska övningar. Musiker värmer ofta upp fysiskt inför en spelning men hur många värmer upp mentalt? Mina forskningsfrågor är: - Hur kan man påverka trumsetselevers musikaliska utveckling med hjälp av expressiva och mentala övningar? - Vilken roll spelar mentala övningar och förberedelser för professionella trummisar? Jag har intervjuat två etablerade trummisar och trumsetslärare, en vid musikhögskolan i Malmö och den andra en verksam trummis i Stockholm och före detta lärare på Musikhögskolan i Malmö.

Melodibasens etablering och utveckling - reflektioner kring accordeon i undervisning

Title: The development of Free BassIn this work I will explain how the accordion with free bass was developed in Sweden. I will also describe how the people, teachers and Musicians, did respond when it was introduced. In this study I investigate Swedish freebass teachers' reflections upon their educational issues. I want to look deeper at how they are reflecting over these two systems, and how they are using them in their daily work. By reading some accordion magazines from the era as a method, I did researching and then I analyzed the articles written about the subject.

Pop, identitet och genus i Kamratposten och Julia

AbstractIn this essay I am examining the representation of popmusic with particular focus on gender and identity in two youth magazines called Kamratposten and Julia. Using the method of Norman Faircloughs critical discourse analysis I have studied ten interviews with popMusicians from each magazine based on the theorys of representations, discourses within popularmusic and queer theory. The intention with this study was to examine how popularmusic is represented in youth magazines. If the magazines were reproducing femininity and masculinity in the interviews with the Musicians, and in the representation of popmusic in the magazines. And also if there were any differences and similarities between the magazines regarding the representation of popMusicians.The analysis lead to the conclusions that how popmusic is represented in the magazines depends on what the magazines wan´t to represent on the basis of their target groups and ideologies.

Den självklara musikläran - En studie om lärares och elevers attityder till musikteoriundervisning

English Title: "The unquestionable tuition of music theory". During my years as a musician and a musical student, I have encountered many prejudices when it comes to views on music played by ear and the routines and discourses belonging to its creation and performance. I have experienced that there is a concealed hierarchical view on different styles of music, particularly amongst those educators and Musicians who are highly educated in musicology. The Afro-American tradition, has historically been a part of the musical education at university level for much shorter a period than that of the classical tradition. In my opinion, the formulation of the music theory lessons is still strongly influenced by the classical tradition.
