The purpose of this essay is to investigate the construction of sexuality in Swedish school libraries through the lens of Foucault?s concept of power/knowledge. Five libraries were investigated, using two kinds of method: discourse analysis of titles, classification codes and subject headings of sex education materials, and qualitative interviews with librarians working at each of the libraries. Most sex education materials were classified within the medicine section, illustrating the continued authority of medical discourse in matters concerning sexuality. Books for younger audiences were often written for either boys or girls, reproducing a binary understanding of gender.

Great care and knowledge are required to assess the values of public parks. Many aspects have to be considered to make the assessments reliable and credible. Care and respect for the site and its users are necessary parts of such an assessment. Stockholm City Museum releases in 2011 a document which describes a new system for assessing the cultural historical value of parks and green areas in Stockholm, a city with a great development pressure. In order to evaluate the public realm basic knowledge about the sites? history is needed. Three different parks in Stockholm have been investigated.

Den 4 september 2010 inviger Västerås konstmuseum tillsammans med Västmanlands läns museum sina första utställningar i lokalerna som är anpassade för museiverksamhet och tillgängliga för besökare. Det är av största vikt att följa byggnadslagsstiftningen när man planerar byggnader och senare bygger dem. Man ska skapa sådana byggnader där människor med nedsatt rörelse- och orienteringsförmåga har möjlighet att utnyttja lokalerna.  En ombyggnation av ASEAs gamla industribyggnad har resulterats i att man har åstadkommit en tillgänglig och modern museilokal i kvarteret Mimer på Karlsgatan 2 i Västerås. Syftet med detta examensarbete har varit att visa vilka tillgänglighetslösningar som har använts i den nya museibyggnaden på Karlsgatan i Västerås. En litteraturstudie har utförts för att gå igenom de krav som ställs på museer.

This study focuses on the Nordic model of Extended Collective Licenses (ECL) and how this model can be used in the process of digitalising and publishing archival material such as photos, letters, maps or films. The question that this study aims to deal with is what advantages, and disadvantages, there are for archives and copyright holders when an ECL is being used. To help answering this question the ?theory of the knowledge commons? has been applied. The research question has been answered through a text analysis based on legal texts including Swedish law.

Works on transparent paper, also commonly known as tracing paper, have been described as ephemeral or temporary working documents and they usually number large quantities in archival and museum collections. They have therefore previously been considered of lower priority and can be found in poor condition due to a lack of treatment or suitable storage prospects. In addition, transparent paper can be very sensitive to moisture and reacts by deformation or loss of transparency. Due to the volume of these works and the necessity of treatment, there is a call for simple and efficient conservation methods. A common solution in archives for the treatment of water-sensitive works on paper has been the use of heat-activated tissues as they can be applied without the introduction of solvents. There is little published about the use of heat-activated tissues on transparent paper and is mentioned only briefly in existing literature.

The main objective of this essay is to examine how the identities of young people are influenced by their choice of an individual sport or a team sport.The following questions are the focus of the essay:? How does the sport influence the creation of an identity for active young people?? How will the choice of an individual sport or a team sport affect the development of an identity in young people who practises sport?To achieve the objective of this essay I have used a qualitative research approach. The empirical material has been collected with help of eight semi-structured interviews. Four of them were held with young people who practised swimming and the other four with young people who played soccer. The essay is structured from Derek Layders model regarding how to understand the social reality.

I urbana miljöer är människor fysiskt nära varandra men relationellt distanserade. Samtidigt finns möjligheten till möten ansikte mot ansikte i vilka ett ömsesidigt moraliskt ansvar kan alstras. Denna studie bidrar till kunskap om hur människor hanterar sociala normer angående anonymitet och solidaritet i sådana situationer. Studien undersöker situationer då främlingar erbjuder eller ber varandra om hjälp på offentliga platser. Den teoretiska utgångspunkten är interaktionistisk och etnometodologisk med fokus på människors praktiska handlingar.

This thesis explores how art produced in the former GDR has been looked upon, handled and exhibited after the reunification of Germany in 1990. Swedish Art History has paid little attention to art in the GDR. The debate starting in the 50s between the spokesmen for abstract art and the defenders of figuration restrained for a long period the ability to look upon art from the GDR without prejudices. This led to a rejection of all figurative art in the GDR and sweeping judgmental attitudes, like it´s all ?kitsch?.

Ambitionen med projektet har varit att skapa en tillbyggnad som tydligt relaterar till huvudbyggnaden på flera nivåer. Projektet genomfördes genom att studera tidsandan, idéer och företeelser som låg till grund för museets födelse, arkitekten Stülers tankar kring vad ett museum är och hur en museibyggnad bör utformas, förstå huvudbyggnadens form och proportioner samt analysera platsen. Friedrich August Stüler ansåg att museet i lika hög grad som dess innehåll var konst. Stüler formulerade fyra punkter om hur byggnaden på bästa sätt kunde visa upp och komplettera sitt innehåll1. Undvikande av en för stor anhopning av likartade konstverk2. En i möjligast mån mångfaldig utformning av rummen med olika uppställnings- och belysningsmotiv för konstverken3.

This master's thesis studies Utländska biblioteket, a 19th century foreign literature subscription library in Karlskrona, Sweden. The aim of the thesis is to investigate Utländska biblioteket between 1835?1864.The material consists primarily of primary sources from the archive of Utländska biblioteket. The main primary sources are the library's accounts book, its minutes, and two book catalogs. Using analytical tools from Jürgen Habermas, feminist criticism of his ideas and from Pierre Bourdieu, as well as results from previous research on older library forms and female organization in the 19th century, the thesis answers questions relating to the library as a society, its members and its book collection.The investigation shows that Utländska biblioteket was a subscription library as well as a book circle.

I denna uppsats ville vi undersöka hur den samiska kulturen representeras inom turism I Sverige. Vi utgick från fyra relevanta teman; dessa var autenticitet, identitet, makt och turism. Frågeställningarna var: Hur framställs den samiska kulturen i turismsammanhang i Sápmi? Hur påverkas den samiska identiteten av hur kulturen framställs inom turismnäringen? Hur mycket får samerna själva vara med och bestämma när det kommer till hur kulturen framställs inom turismnäringen? Vi började med att se över den samiska befolkningens historia. Det är viktigt att förstå hur de har behandlats förr för att kunna förstå varför saker och ting är som de är idag.

Dagens samhälle genomsyras av marknadsföring, och i takt med att det förändras behövs nytänkande och nyskapande. Inom näringslivet har det länge varit självklart att marknadsföra sin verksamhet, medan det inom kulturområdet inte prioriterats då det ofta finns ett kulturpolitiskt ansvar som grund. Även om syftet inte är att generera vinst, har nästan alla kulturella verksamheter ett budskap att förmedla. Att de har sina speciella karakteristika påverkar marknadsföringens utformning och de verksammas uppfattning om den.Syftet med uppsatsen är att utifrån teori och empiri undersöka vilken uppfattning marknadsförare inom offentliga kulturverksamheter har om marknadsföring. För att uppnå detta syfte har vi tre delproblem; marknadsföringens acceptans, tillämpning och prioritet.I teorikapitlet har vi studerat både ekonomiska och kulturella teorier som underbyggt de empiriska studierna av marknadsföringen i kulturella verksamheter.

Travelling children is the topic of my work. Children who commute between more than one home. Society is rapidly changing and so is the concept â familyâ . The nuclear family is no longer the most common one. Children are now travelling more frequently than ever.
