This thesis highlights the complex relationship between social movements and the mass media. The new social movements really have to struggle to get access to the media sphere, often enforced to use spectacular media strategies, and at the same time maintain their political messages. This struggle gives us reason to question the liberal notion of the media as a neutral arena for political communication and debate. In fact we argue that the media industry should be seen as a powerful actor and that the mass media serves to maintain and enforce an ideology that serves the political and economic elites in the liberal capitalist democracy. The Social movements that seek to question these elites and present an alternative, as they did during the EU-meeting in Gothenburg 2001, quite clearly gets far from neutral media image of the political actions taking place instead the are portrayed as violent or associated with violence and not presented as legitimate or believable political subjects..

The purpose of this Master thesis is to increase the knowledge about how public libraries can contribute to fulfil political programmes aimed towards integration. To achieve this we have conducted an evaluative case study about a public library in Sweden and the activities they carried out within the framework of the metropolitan policy programme Storstadssatsningen?. The questions raised consider which the political aims for integration within this programme were, which activities the library did accomplish, what the result in comparison with the politically decided aims was, and what conclusions can possibly be drawn from this? The theoretical framework consists of theories regarding evaluation, political programmes, integration and segregation, and public library-activities.

This thesis in Art History and Visual Science is about values to graffiti and graffiti artist Banksy. I have studied values relating to Banksy´s graffiti images through which context they are placed in and where they are located. I have selected two different images of Banksy as an example on the basis of a transnational phenomenon, where the images that circulate in the public arena by street art and other images and imported into the galleries and consumption market. My conclusion is that the values of the images are based on the context in which each room have its surroundings and that therefore the impression will increase. The public space context, signal availability and the white cube context indicates art, and the commercial context signals goods and items that can be bought.

Intresset för vårt undersökningsområde har kommit ur den verksamhetsförlagda utbildning som vi har genomfört vid lärarutbildningen i Växjö. Vi har sett att samlingen verkar ha ett starkt fäste i förskolan och därför började vi fundera över vad det beror på och vad som är det pedagogiska syftet med samlingen. Ett syfte med vårt arbete är därför att undersöka vad som är pedagogernas syfte med samlingen i förskolan. Ytterligare syften är att undersöka vilka normer pedagogerna ger uttryck för och vilket innehåll som prioriteras. Vi har använt en kvalitativ metod med observationer och semi-strukturerade intervjuer.

Arktis blir allt hetare i den globala politiken då det tros finnas stora mängder olja och gas under den tjocka havsisen som har börjat dra sig tillbaka. Den norska regering har även proklamerat Norges nordområden som de strategiskviktigaste för landet den kommande framtiden.Norges utveckling och val av handlingsvägar i Arktis har präglats av Ryssland i högsta grad, en överenskommelse som löste en gammal gränstvist visar på ett ökat samarbete mellan länderna, även olika gemensamma övningar ger sken av ett ökat samarbete i norr. Men samtidigt så har Rysslads återuppväckta stormaktsambitioner speglats i agerandet från Norges sida med omorientering av försvarsmakten mot norra delen av landet samtidigt som inköpet av F-35 fortskrider och även en modernisering samt utökning av Norges stridsfordonspark ska genomföras.Resultatet av uppsatsen visar på hur Norge anpassar sig mot en ny säkerhetspolitisk arena i sitt direkta närområde som med nya utmaningar ställer annorlunda krav jämfört med tidigare decennium..

AbstractWith this c-composition, I am trying to give a view over what has happened in the political area and the issues that concerns environmental aid. My analyze starts in the 60-ies when the environmental debate took of. It continues trough the 70-ies, 80-ies and ends in 1994 with the report that considers the UN-conference in Rio de Janeiro 1992, ?Sustainable Aid? and what the results of the more and more important issue ?sustainable development? has offered the Swedish government ant there work with environmental aid.The question issue is: At what time in history, did the Swedisch government start to addrsess environmental aid? How did the environmental aid come to be addressed and developed in the political area from the Brundtlandreport ?Our common future? from 1987 to the UN-conference in Rio de Janeiro 1992?The result is that the environment is getting more and more important in the political arena as the knowledge about the escalating crises with the environmental problems are being taken more seriously. The problems with the environment has to be considered together with the rest of the aid- and developing questions like economy and the struggle to reduce poverty in the world.

Syftet med denna uppsats var att utifrån ett feministiskt poststrukturalistiskt perspektiv, studera hur några medverkande i ett likabehandlingsnätverk i en Reggio Emilia-inspirerad förskoleenhet, talade om kön/genus och normer. Arbetet med nätverket har beskrivits som en ?minipolitisk? arena; för vardagsnära demokratiska förhandlingar ? ett möte mellan rådande ?storpolitik?, i form av läroplan och lagar, och lokalt förverkligande. Därmed ville vi bidra med kunskap om hur ett sådant nätverk kan möjliggöra ett praktiskt arbete med genusfrågor, samt om vilka eventuella svårigheter som finns. Vi samlade in material via intervjuer med sex pedagoger, där några precis påbörjat sitt deltagande i nätverket medan andra hade deltagit i ett år.

Several studies have analysed the relationship between Normalised DifferenceVegetation Index (NDVI) and radiative surface temperature. A main goal for moststudies have been to find the best method for carrying out land cover classificationsand to study land cover changes, based on a combination between the twoparameters. Since atmospheric components have a significant influence on bothparameters, most applications were based on multi-temporal data. The quality of theindividual values in such a combination is improved, but the biophysical justificationis uncertain. This study presents a different method, based on only the combination ofvalues that have been registered the same day and about the same time of the day.125 daily images of NDVI and 250 images of radiometric temperature were used inorder to analyse the relationship between (1) NDVI and radiative temperature and (2)NDVI and relative temperature difference between early morning and mid-day.Results between NDVI and radiative temperature show a significant negativecorrelation on areas where a distinct growing season develops, and a strong positivcorrelation where vegetation is abscent throghout the season.

Denna uppsats avser att utforska förskolebarns köns- och subjektskapande i och i förhållande till lekar med ett actiontema, som Superman, tjyv och polis och transformers. Genom deltagande observation har jag samlat empiri som jag med feministiskt poststrukturellt perspektiv och diskursanalys analyserat. Studien går i motstånd mot en uppfattning om dessa actionlekar som sprungna ur ett maskulint behov. Genom att titta på hur tecknet ?kille? kopplas ihop med andra tecken, visar studien hur actionlekarna istället går att förstå som en arena där ting och företeelser konstrueras som maskulina.

Vad kan skolan göra för att förbättra ungdomars kost och hälsovanor? Syftet med mitt examensarbete har varit att undersöka ungdomars kost och hälsovanor som underlag för vad skolan kan och bör göra för att stimulera och motivera ungdomar till bättre kosthållning. För att nå syftet har jag använt metoden enkätundersökning och intervjuer. I undersökningen har 40 elever från IV-programmet ingått. Litteraturen som presenteras belyser kunskap och lärande om skolans roll till att förbättra ungdomars kost och hälsovanor.

There are several methods avaliable to find areas of interest, but most fail at detecting such areas in cluttered scenes. In this paper two methods will be presented and tested in a qualitative perspective. The first is the darg operator, which is used to detect three dimensional convex or concave objects by calculating the derivative of the argument of the gradient in one direction of four rotated versions. The four versions are thereafter added together in their original orientation. A multi scale version is recommended to avoid the problem that the standard deviation of the Gaussians, combined with the derivatives, controls the scale of the object, which is detected.

The idea that I put forward in this thesis concerns the democratic system and the threat from discoursive impact on its core values. I focus my normative analysis on three of these democratic values: transparency, accountability and influence ? and what democratic problems the discoursive impact causes in conflict with them. I have used a critical discourse theory to define discourse and discoursive impact, by focusing on the process of discourse, rather than its nature. I deal with the political structure where I claim that the essential relation between citizen and politician is disrupted, due to lack of information and the imminent problems of the existing network society.

Sverige rankas år 2011, enligt United Nations Development Program, som världens mest jämställda land.Mediautgör emellertid en arena som är kritiserad och anklagad för att förmedla en bild av kvinnan som innebär att hennes kropp och utseende är allt. I den här uppsatsen används en kritisk diskursanalys för att belysa hur diskursiva processer, i ett medialt material, kan uttydas lingvistiskt och hur dessa processer utgör ett socialt problem. I detta integreras en analys av vilka subjektspositioner som erbjuds läsaren av detta material. Materialet som varit föremål för analys är den svenska versionen av månadsmagasinetCosmopolitan, som säger sig tillhandahålla en formel för framgång i livet för unga tjejer. Diskurser som är involverade i det sociala problem somCosmopolitansrepresentationer av kvinnan utgör är: heterosexualitet som enda möjliga sexualitet, postfeminism och konsumism.

Vårt utvecklingsarbete syftar till att öka kunskap och förståelse gällande hur en organiserad rastverksamhet kan minska kränkande behandling och konflikter. Rasten utgör 20 % av elevers skoldag. Det är ett outnyttjad arena för pedagogiska möten med barnen. Vi har därför startat upp rastverksamhet som involverar hela skolan från årskurs 1-3. Skolan som utvecklingsarbetet utförs på visar en enkätstudie på barnen att det finns riks för utanförskap.
