This Masters thesis is a study in library and information science, that examines literature as a tool for young people in their identity creation. Both scientists and teachers have found that teenagers like to identify themselves, when reading literature. The purpose of this Masters thesis is to examine how youths construct their identity through reading in relation to the purpose that libraries and cultural politics have in youth novels. The starting point of this study is the sociologist Thomas Ziehe and his idea about identity try-out identitetsutprovning and Erving Goffmans dramaturgy perspective. The main question is: what is the relation between young peoples identity creation in youth novels and in their reality in proportion to the young peoples reading of youth literature and the science about their reading? The question is answered in three parts.

The aim of this paper is to describe the position of the Swedish welfare state within the shaping of a Swedish national identity. This is done through the study of Mångkulturåret 2006, and its rhetorical context. The point of departure is that history is formed continuously in current speech and a text analytical method has been used. Mångkulturåret was issued by the Department of Culture as an extended perspective of Cultural politics. The rhetoric used in the official document Agenda för Mångkultur is analyzed through a comparison with earlier official documents on the field of multiculturalism and integration.

Belöning och motivation i ett ständigt samspel : En fallstudie kring hur belöningssystem utformas för kärnpersonal på ett revisions- och redovisningsbolag samt hur de motiveras och påverkas av detta system.

Den här studien handlar om hur belöningssystem tillämpas i ett revisions- och redovisningsföretag (PwC) samt hur detta kan utvecklas som ett motivationsverktyg. Med utgångspunkt i klassiska motivation- och behovsteorier av Maslow, McClelland och Herzberg, tar uppsatsen avstamp för att analysera motivation och belöningssystem i fallföretaget. Utifrån grundläggande teori om professionella tjänsteföretag, agentteori och hur belöningssystem utformas i praktiken; vilka som bör bli belönade, hur och vilka kriterier som ställs används sedan för att jämföra med empirin. En ytterligare huvudaspekt är att undersöka hur kärnpersonalen blir belönad samt hur de uppfattar att de blir belönade och hur deras coacher ser på deras motivation från ett annat perspektiv. Många företag går nämligen ofta miste om att motivera och belöna de som faktiskt utgör en stor del av det operativa arbetet.

Att hitta Ett hem vid världens ände: Om sexualitet och könsidentitet vid ämnesordsindexering av skönlitteratur.

This master thesis aims to examine the process of indexing fiction when it comes to area of sexuality and gender identity. The empiric work that forms the basis of the thesis are three investigations:(a) examining the current status of indexing fiction within the catalogues of six Swedish medium-sized libraries;(b) interviewing librarians who allocate the subject headings; and(c) an analysis of the Swedish subject heading system Att indexera skönlitteratur.This will be concluded with an analysis of the gathered material through queer theoretic standpoint with the help of critical classification and its inclusion through separation, and marginalization where subjects that differs from the norm is included but only by being separated from the norm, or ignored totally. This will show that there are similarities with how different groups get treated within the classification systems and how they are treated in subject heading indexing. An example of this in Att indexera skönlitteratur is that heterosexuality never is mentioned in the subject heading but is always present as the silent norm, while gender identity is marginalized through exclusion of the subject heading, and related words are instead being included under sexual identity..

Elevers inställning och motivation till ämnet engelska

Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka eventuella skillnader i inställning och motivation införämnet engelska hos elever i två klasser i år 9 på en svensk skola i ett engelsktalande land ochen svensk skola i Sverige. Dessutom undersöks eventuella skillnader i undervisningsmetoder iämnet engelska i de båda klasserna och vad dessa skillnader kan göra för elevernas motivationtill språkinlärningen. I studien har använts kvalitativ observation av engelsklektioner i de bådaklasserna samt intervjuer av sex elever i varje klass. Observationerna kombinerade medintervjusvaren visar att motivationen hos eleverna på de båda skolorna skiljer sig marginellt,och att det som avgör är huvudsakligen undervisningsmetoderna..

Faktorer som påverkar motivationen hos personer som arbetar inom HR

Vad som motiverar individer i arbetet har länge diskuterats och engagerat många inom forskningen utan att ha kommit fram till ett samstämmigt svar. Flertalet teorier har försökt att förklara motivationens uppkomst. Syftet med studien var att se vilka faktorer som kan tänkas påverka HR-personers motivation i arbetet. Data har samlats in genom halvstrukturerade intervjuer med sex personer som jobbar med HR frågor och har analyserats med hjälp av tematisk analys. Studiens resultat visade sammanfattningsvis på tio faktorer  som påverkade HR-personers motivation i arbetet; utveckling, kollegor/grupper, möte med människor, variation, meningsfullhet, värderingar, bidra, mål, resultat samt lön.

En bro mellan teoretisk och praktisk kunskap : En fenomenografisk studie baserad på lärares uppfattningar kring teoretisk och praktisk kunskap, metod och lärande- miljöer

This thesis is intended to respond to the extent to which South African textbooks on the subject of history is linked to the governmental policy documents and whether they are producing and reproducing national identity. The two textbooks are aimed at students in grade 10. Both books were produced in 2008 but published by different publishers.The essay is based on Norman Faircloughs critical discourse theory which has been supplemented by Michael Billings theory Banal Nationalism, which assumes that it is the national words that remind us daily of our homeland that is producing and reproducing national identity.  The survey shows that both textbooks are closely tied to the government policy document for the teaching of history. The textbooks refer to the policy, both explicitly and implicitly. The two textbooks reproduce a common national identity in South Africa based on the discussions taking place in society.

The purpose of my essay is towrite about newly qualified elementary teachers during their first professional experience and their opinions of a teacher's identity. My interest is a result of that I myself am studying to be a teacher and am reaching the end of my studies.My purpose is mainly to examine how teachers first experience their role and if their education helped them resolve any problems they had. My aim was also to examine what the teacher?s identity and role and the question of leadership means for new teachers?I have used a qualitative interview method.The results showed that new teachers experience difficulties and that their training does not prepare them sufficiently. The results also showed that the teacher?s identity, the teacher?s role and leadership are factors that grow with time and experience in the teaching role and that it is not something that the beginner teachers acquire during their education. I have achieved a clearer picture of what to expect and how to enter into the role of teacher with support and time..

Flickor är bättre än pojkar! : En kvantitativ studie gällande gymnasieelevers motivation till skolarbete ur ett socialt klass- och könsperspektiv

SyfteSyftet med vår studie är att undersöka vilken betydelse social klass och kön har för elevernas motivation till sitt skolarbete. Frågeställningarna vi använt oss av är, vilken typ av motivation har eleverna på studieförberedande program?, vilken typ av motivation har eleverna på yrkesförberedande program?, vilken typ av motivation har pojkar? och vilken typ av motivation har flickor?MetodVi har med hjälp av enkäter genomfört en undersökning med 100 sistaårselever från fem olika gymnasieskolor i Stockholmsområdet. 50 elever från studieförberedande och 50 elever från yrkesförberedande program, könsfördelningen är helt jämn. Enkätsvaren har bearbetats statistiskt i statistikprogrammet SPSS, signifikansnivån är i denna studie 95%.ResultatDet finns ett statistiskt säkerställt samband mellan motivation och kön.

The purpose in this Bachelor degree project has been to create a visual identity and to design a compilation cassette for the small music distributor Kyrkvägen Kassett. My way of approaching the task has been to draw parallells between the cassette as an obsolete music format and more or less abandoned or anachronistic formats, materials and printing methods in the graphic design area. The result is a visual identity that is built upon materials and methods of production rather than specific visual elements. The work is to be seen as a tribute to the small non-profit producers of music and graphic design. As often done in the DIY movement, I chose to consider my lack of practical knowledge in these fields not as an encumbrance but as an asset and an incentive.

In 2022, Russia completed its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The EU responded with powerful restrictive measures against Russia to demonstrate its unified support for Ukraine, indicating that the perception of Russia as an external threat to the EU, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), has become increasingly evident following the invasion. Drawing on theory and previous research suggesting that external threats strengthen group identities, I argue that Russia is perceived as an external threat to EU identity in CEE after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Stephan and Stephan's integrated threat theory considers an external threat as either realistic, posing a threat to the ingroup's existence, or symbolic, posing a threat to the ingroup's worldview. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between EU identity and the perception of Russia as a group threat to the EU among individuals in CEE based on the nature of the group threat: realistic and symbolic.

This study aims to describe the conditions, of which some youths who live in a segregated area in Sweden, see as important for their development of an identity. The study have been conducted in a manner where we put the youths own words in focus. The youths are in charge of deciding what they regard as important for their own development of their own identity. In this study we assume certain contexts, of which we base the study. These contexts include the society, the urban districts, the school, the family, and the language.

Many times it can be the simple things that affect the attitude of work and which have an importance on the organization's effectiveness. These are not always apparent but can have a large importance for the motivation and the attitude of work. Large number of companies uses wage and other financial rewards system but is there any form of informal factors that have an importance for the coworkers and that affects motivation. What factors that affect the motivation within the industry are interesting to examine and specifically the factors that are not apparent, in other words informal factors that increases the motivation. Motivation i praktiken - En fallstudie om vad som skapar ho g motivation hos erfarna IT-konsulter

The purpose of this study is to examine what creates motivation in the workplace of a small company with a high employee satisfaction index. The case study consists of qualitative interviews that help explain what the most important motivational factors are for the experienced IT consultants in a company that was founded by a circle of friends. The study concludes that the unique and equal pay model implicates an economic risk to the individual consultant but results in liberties, synergies and benefits. These appeal more than either self-employment or work at a larger IT consultancy that several consultants have backgrounds in. An expansion is ongoing since two years back, which threatened the culture but implicated opportunities for the individual consultants.
