During the last decades the fertility of dairy cows has declined in the same rate as the milk yield has increased. This is a result of the negative genetic correlation between milk yield and fertility, failure to show estrous signs and metabolic problems in the cow. The purpose of this review was to investigate the function of metabolites and hormones as markers for disturbances in fertility, health and production in the dairy cow. There are several metabolites that are suggested to indicate the cow?s energy balance.

Background: Hepatitis E (HEV) is a small, non-enveloped virus that belongs to the viral genus Hepevirus. HEV is a positive sense single-stranded RNA virus and there is insufficient information regarding its replication. This is mainly because the virus has low capacity to grow in normally used cell cultures. Many specific strand assay detection studies have been done in order to understand more about HEV replication. Unfortunately, these assays have the disadvantage of giving false positive results.Aim: The aim of this project was to improve the positive strand assay to increase specificity and eliminate false positivity which is due to high sensitivity of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Syftet var att undersöka individers motivation till och upplevelse av motion, vad som leder tillavbrott i ett motionsprogram, upplevda hinder till motion, vilka strategier de somupprätthåller sina motionsvanor använder för att överkomma dessa hinder samt om deanvänder målsättningar för sitt motionerande. Bakgrundsvariablerna var kön, ålder,erfarenhet, träningsfrekvens och barndomshistorik. Ett kvantitativt formulär delades ut vidolika träningsanläggningar och arbetsplatser. Försökspersonerna (N = 166) var: Män (N =100) och Kvinnor (N = 66), Yngre Vuxna 16 - 29 år (N = 82), Medelålders 30 - 44 år (N = 56)och Äldre Vuxna 45 - 66 år (N = 27), Nybörjare (N = 24) och Erfarna (N = 142), Lågaktiva(N = 81) och Högaktiva (N = 85), Aktiva (N = 82) och Inaktiva föräldrar (N = 84) samtAktiva (N = 134) eller Icke Aktiva (N = 32) i organiserad barn/ungdomsidrott underuppväxten. Det vanligaste motivet till att träna var att förbättra konditionen och den vanligasteupplevelsen var att träning var ett verktyg till att hålla sig i form.

When investigating mechanical problems it is often more convenient to deal with scalars rather than vectors. In this project methods stemming from the field of analytical mechanics, which lets one derive the equations of motion using scalar quantities instead of vectors, have been used. Two mechanical problems were investigated, a double pendulum with a spring and particles orbit in a sphere. The equations of motion of the two systems were derived with the assistance of computer algebra, using Maple and the external package Sophia. The systems were investigated with regard to periodicity and conserved quantities..

Ohälsan ökar i västvärlden som en följd av bland annat försämrade kostvanor och alltför lite fysisk aktivitet. För att öka aktivitetsgraden hos den vuxna befolkningen i Sverige erbjuds många via arbets¬givaren möjlighet till friskvård på betald arbetstid. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka olika aspekter av motivation och inställ¬ning till motion hos individer som nyttjar respektive inte utnyttjar friskvårdsförmånen. Data samlades in genom semistruktu¬rerade intervjuer med tio personer vilka sedan analyserades enligt teoristyrd tematisk analys. Deltagarna besvarade även ett standardiserat mät¬instrument (Sport Motivation Scale).

Bakgrund Att drabbas av Diabetes Mellitus innebär att du måste genomföra en rad livsstilsförändringar med avseende på kost, motion och socialt liv. En god kontakt med sjuksköterskor kan underlätta genomförandet av livsstilsförändringar.Syfte Att beskriva upplevelser av livsstilsförändringar och sjuksköterskans bemötande av personer med Diabetes Mellitus typ 1 mellan 18-40  år med fokus på kost, motion och socialt liv.Metod Sex semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med personer med Diabetes Mellitus typ 1. Intervjuerna analyserades genom en kvalitativ innehållsanalys.   Resultat Resultatet beskrevs utifrån tre frågeställningar: Svårigheterna att genomföra livsstilsförändringar, fördelarna av att genomföra livsstilsförändringar och vad sjuksköterskan kan göra för att underlätta livsstilsförändringar. I resultatet framkom det att personer med diabetes typ 1 upplevde svårigheter såsom psykiska påfrestningar, påverkan på det sociala livet, planering och ökat kontrollbehov. Fördelar som framkom var en ökad självkännedom, känsla av gemenskap och att få en sund livsstil.

Vi ville undersöka om det var möjligt att på en begränsad budget bygga och programmera en Live Slow Motion-maskin för att generera repriser under en TV-sändning. Utan tillgång till dyrare specialtillverkad hårdvara skulle allt skötas i mjukvara på i grunden en vanlig konsument-PC. Vi ville så långt som möjligt att vår maskin skulle efterlikna de etablerade produkter som används i TV-branchen då vår förhoppning var att maskinen skulle kunna utnyttjas av TV-studenter efter färdigställandet. Vi ville dock inte begränsa oss för mycket, utan vi skulle försöka förbättra de saker vi ansåg behövde förändras..

This master thesis is made of two parts. The first part concerns the method and results ofdesigning a motion control system for a piece of research-equipment called BIRGIT. Theequipment is made to be used for research on eyemovements. In the second part, a computermodel of a part of the balance organ in the inner-ear is developed. The work has been done atthe Bernadotte laboratory at S:t Erik Eye Hospital.The equipment the control system is made for is a so-called rotationchair.

Syftet med detta arbete har varit att undersöka huruvida Wii Fit? kan vara en källa för motion samt ett undervisningskomplement för ämnet idrott och hälsa. För att kunna analysera detta har arbetet använt sig utav Gunnar Borgs RPE-skala samt pulstagning. Detta för att få ett värde på den ansträngning som upplevts och uppnåtts vid utförandet av Wii Fit? och dess fyra kategorier Balans, Yoga, Styrka och Aerobics.

Syftet med studien är att via tidigare utförd forskning undersöka om det finns och hur eventuella samband ser ut mellan motivation och motion. Studien utfördes genom en metaanalys, insamlingen av artiklar var ifrån databaser vilket Högskolan i Gävle ger studenter tillgång till. Utsållning av artiklar skedde utifrån sökkriterier som skrevs utifrån syftet och målgruppen vilket är vuxna människor generellt sett. Vidare analyserades de funna artiklarna och ett resultat trädde fram. Resultatet visar på att samband mellan motivation och motion träder fram i studiens belysta artiklar samt att motivation är föränderligt och påverkningsbart genom olika metoder.

This paper examines the ideological content of the compulsory school policy of the Swedish Liberal Party. The aim of the study is to investigate whether the Liberal Party does really represent a liberal policy for the compulsory school, or if it is more accurately described as conservative. The analysis is carried through by two separate critical examinations of the Liberal Party motion on school politics to the parliament and the Conservative Party motion on school politics to the parliament respectively. A comparison is then made between the ideological contents of the two documents. The specific party policies are linked to universal definitions of liberalism and conservatism with the help of an analytical tool consistent of a series of educational philosophies.

This thesis deals with the numerical 3D simulation of a four stroke, spark-ignited, internalcombustion engine, which is mounted on a high performance motorcycle. The work, carried outin collaboration with Politecnico di Milano and MV Agusta, focuses on the simulation of theintake, compression and expansion stroke, including combustion simulation, using an opensource CFD code.Simulation of internal combustion engines offers a great challenge in the field of CFD research.Moving boundaries of the solution domain, caused by the motion of the piston and valves, leadsto deformation of the computational grid, with decreasing quality of the solution as result. Basedon this, a previously developed mesh motion strategy was employed where a number of meshesare used to cover the whole simulation cycle. Within each mesh interval the internal cell pointsof the mesh are moved to account for the boundary motion of the piston and valves. This strategywas previously applied to simplified geometries as well as real engine geometries.

Diagnosis means detection and isolation of faults. A model based diagnosis system is built on a mathematical model of the system. The difficulty when constructing the diagnosis system depends om how the model is formulated. In this report, a method is described that rewrites the model on such a form that the construction of the diagnosis algoritm is easy. The model is transformed by two state space transformations and the result will be a system on state space form where one part of the system becomes easy to supervise.

The study shows the current need for security solutions concerning work with information in different areas.Investigations will show important solutions for printers? needs to meet the increasingly harder demands forfast and safe digital communications. Important factors to be analyzed in the investigations are: access todifferent types of information, workers authority of information, access to the data base register internallyand externally, production solutions for an effective fault detection and data base solutions fororders and distribution.Planned and unplanned stops result in a standard of value in interruptions. Syftet med studien var att undersöka sambanden mellan människors motivation till motion, hur de psykologiska behoven kan tillfredsställas samt hur målsättningar och självbestämmande motivationsprofil påverkar motionsbeteenden. Undersökningsdeltagarna i studien var 1100 motionärer (m = 45 år) som var medlemmar i en viktminskningsorganisation. Insamlingen av data skedde i form av en webbaserad enkätundersökning med mätinstrumenten Godin Leisure Time Exercise Questionnaire, The Behavioral Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire-2, The Basic Psychological Needs in Exercise Scale och Goal Content for Exercise Questionnaire. Resultatet visade i stort att en inre reglerad motivationsprofil samt inre målsättningar har ett positivt samband med tillfredsställelse av både de psykologiska behoven och ansträngande träningssnivå. Vidare visade resultatet att inre målsättningar har ett positivt samband med en självbestämmande motivationsprofil.
