Today there are commercially available databases with active features, i.e. active mechanisms are available for development of information systems. But the usage of active mechanisms is low in practice. This is due to the insufficient methodological support in analysis and design for developing ECA rule based software. It has been proposed that one of the most suitable ways to tackle this problem is not to develop new methods but to extend existing methodologies.In this thesis an extension of the Object Modeling Technique (OMT) is developed, called OMT-A, which is able to model active rules.

The purpose of this study is to examine the view of knowledge and the view of learner which are prominent in the ministry memorandum Specific programs and access to vocational programs (U2009/5552/G) and thereby understand the potential impact of the new transformation of the current individual program and what it brings to the students who do not achieve the objectives in grade 9. We have used a qualitative text analysis method. The background to the study describes in particular today's individual program, view of knowledge and view of learner. The result shows that the most prominent in the memorandum is that knowledge is divided into theory and practice, that individualization is the focus and the text shows freedom for interpretation..

The aims of the practical work carried out for this thesis were to redesign a clinical decision support system for thoracic surgeons, called AssistMe, and to evaluate the concept behind this system. The main objective of the thesis is to give an account of the considerations that were found to be of key importance for designing a clinical decision support system for thoracic surgery. Another aim was to let future users test the system after it had been redesigned and evaluate the concept behind it. The thesis also investigates users? experience of the system and their views on whether it would be applicable in their daily work practice.

The purpose of this study is to investigate and describe the role of course books for teaching English to children at intermediate level of primary school in Sweden. The essay is based on a descriptive, qualitative method and interviews have been conducted with seven teachers in different schools, teaching English in year 4, 5 and 6.The result of the study shows that course books have considerably influence on the teaching of English in the schools who took part in this investigation. The participating teachers use a course book as main teaching material and almost everybody follows the traditional routine working with Textbook and complementary tasks in Workbook every week. They base their lessons on course books and use alternative teaching material mainly for fun activities, speaking practice and individualization. Even though all teachers rank speaking and listening as most important for new learners, it is reading which has the largest impact on their teaching.

Today green tree retention, together with leaving dead wood, is a common practice with the aim to reduce negative impacts on biodiversity and environment due to clear-felling. To better understand whether this conservation practice also makes a long-term difference, it is important to know what happens to these trees after harvest. Few studies have made an assessment of what happens to retention trees over a longer time period. In this study I inventoried retention trees that were left at clear-cuts six, twelve and eighteen years ago. I carried out a re-inventory of 57 retention patches (divided into free-standing tree groups, small swamp forests and edge zones) and free standing dead trees, spread over 25 previous clear-cuts in central Sweden.

The purpose of this report is to present some of the market's façade panels and to do a survey of Masonite façade panels and compare. Therefore I have looked closer on potential competitors and studied their assembly method and properties. I will also propose suggestions on installing Masonite panels and improvements to the current carrying system. The purpose of this paper was to examine how people experience the practice of Cannabis in daily life. The study was based on interviews with five individuals who have experience with cannabis use. They do not represent a bigger population only themselves. We chose these particular individuals because all of them began using cannabis at a young age- everyone before they were twenty. But they have been using cannabis because of different reasons.

Syftet med denna studie var att dels jämföra barn, 3?6 år, och föräldrars preferenser av barnboksillustrationer, dels att undersöka hur föräldrar resonerar kring val av bilderbok och illustrationens roll i samband med detta.Genom enskilda semistrukturerade intervjuer och tillhörande observationer med 22 barn (3?6 år) och 10 föräldrar undersöktes vilken av fem typer av bokillustrationer som föredrogs. Föräldrarna fick därefter även välja vilken av fem bilderböcker, från vilka illustrationerna var hämtade, som de skulle vilja läsa för sina barn och motivera sitt val.Resultatet från undersökningen tyder på att illustrationerna är en aspekt för både barn och föräldrar vid val av bilderbok samt att det finns faktorer som föredras i illustrationerna.Barnen i undersökningen verkade föredra naivistiska illustrationer med stort antal fokuspunkter. Föräldrar föredrog realistiska illustrationer med inslag de kan koppla till verkliga livet.Föräldrarna ansåg att illustrationer, handling, moral och lärdom var viktiga aspekter vid valet av bilderbok till deras barn. The study's aim is to create an understanding for the question why Sweden in 1921chose to create its own classification system for public libraries instead of adapting e.g.the Dewey-system which - at this time - was internationally we11 spread. It examines thesocial changes which proceeded the creation of the Swedish Library Association (SLA)in 1915 and discusses in depth the work of the committee appointed by SLA to createthe classification system. Special interest is also given to the relation between SLACSand the Dewey-system.The study shows that the main influence on the codttee's work was the formerSwedish tradition of classification practice. Domestication has resulted in the ability for animals to adapt to environments created by the human over time. The behavior differs very little between wild and domesticated animals, but the difference seen is how often and to what degree a behavior is performed. The need for efficiency in modern animal production has led to welfare problems in the productionsystems where the animals have difficulties coping with their environment. Attempts to environmentally adapt individuals by selection for reduced frequency of natural behaviours have been made. These have shown that natural behaviours are complex and are controlled by several different mechanisms, making selection for reduced natural behavior difficult, and it may also lead to unwanted and abnormal behaviours.

This thesis is about Swedish and Serbian teachers and their views on how literature should be taught to students in high school. The twist is that these teachers live in two different European countries, and work under two different educational systems. Three of them work in Stockholm, Sweden and the other three in Belgrade, Serbia. The purpose of this thesis was to find similarities and differences in the practice of teaching literature among teachers in these two different educational systems. The teachers were interviewed separately and spoke freely about their views and methods when teaching literature.

This is a qualitative study based on interviews with professionals who are cooperating at a children advocacy center, in swedish called ?Barnahus?. The center, Barnahus, pulls together law enforcement, criminal justice, child protective service, medical and mental health workers in to one coordinated team. Children suspected to be victims of any kind of violence or sexual abuse shall, at Barnahus, be offered coordinated efforts and support all the way from suspicion to possible intervention. The aim of the study is to examine how the participants involved relate to collaboration in Barnahus. The study will also present the success factors and barriers to collaboration that identifies by the participating actors, who are mentioned above.The study will provide insight and understanding of how collaboration can be represented in multiprofessional activities in practice..

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka fenomenet etnisk profilering i bevakningsbranschen. Då det inte finns tidigare forskning om väktares yrkeskulturer har polisforskning kring brottsstereotyper använts som utgångspunkt.Studiens empiriska material har samlats in via semistrukturerade intervjuer med sex väktare som diskuterar attityder och förhållningssätt till den egna yrkespraktiken. Resultatet visar att informanterna ger uttryck för att de arbetar med hjälp av kategoriseringar och stereotyper, de uppmärksammar etniska grupper som betraktas som problematiska samt ser det som en skyldighet att uppdatera kollegor om dessa grupper. Det framkommer att det finns föreställningar om en relation mellan etnicitet och brottslighet: specifikt etnicitet och stöld samt våldsanvändning. Det finns en informell jargong som tillhör yrket som kan betraktas som rasistisk.

Denna undersökning hade som syfte att undersöka vilka faktorer som påverkar köksmästare på restauranger när de köper fisk i allmänhet och torsk specifikt. Vi ville fånga dessa personers resonemang kring inköp och servering av torsk, samt hur torskdebatten påverkat dem. Med undersökningen ville vi också undersöka hur de ser restaurangers roll som samhällspåverkare.För att besvara våra frågor använde vi oss av öppna intervjuer med fyra köksmästare på fisk- och skaldjursdominerade restauranger. Frågorna behandlade deras resonemang omkring fiskinköp, samarbete med leverantörer, torsk som råvara, torskdebattens påverkan på dem och deras syn på miljömärkning av fisk och restauranger.En del av vad vi fann stämde väl överens med tidigare modeller och undersökningar. Vid fiskinköp var kvalité och pris de faktorer som påverkade köksmästarna mest, men även moral och miljö spelade in.
