Tove Jansson was born in 1914 and died in 2001. She was a Finnish, though Swedish-speaking, novelist and painter. She wrote many books of which the Moomin books were the most popular. She wrote in total eight Moomin books (picture books not counted) of which some were rewritten one of more times. The first Moomin book appeared in 1945 and the last as late as 1970.

I en iterativ process i ett utforskande arbete underso?ker jag om tintamaresken kan anva?ndas i fler sammanhang a?n inom den folkliga komiken. Genom litteraturstudium hittar jag en va?g fra?n den svenska bondkomiken till fja?rmningseffekter i internationella teatertraditioner. Med hja?lp av laborationer och kontrollexperiment pro?var jag fo?rha?llningssa?ttet och gestaltningar tillsammans med tintamaresken.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka ett tidigare outforskat område, nämligen de gotiska dragen i Tove Janssons Muminböcker, med fokus på Småtrollen och den stora översvämningen. Skräckgenren har tidigare kopplats samman med både Jansson och hennes Muminböcker, fast aldrig förr genom ett gotiskt perspektiv. Därför lyder frågeställningen som följer: Vilka gotiska drag förekommer i Tove Janssons Muminböcker, framförallt i Småtrollen och den stora översvämningen? Hur framställs, och vilket syfte har, dessa gotiska drag?Gotiska drag står i fokus för närläsningen, vilket är metoden jag använder mig av i min analys. Jag använder en definition av termen gotik, presenterad av Mattias Fyhr, som innebär att jag kommer att söka efter drag som berör subjektivitet, avsaknad, förfall, undergång, olösbarhet och labyrintism.
