The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to examine what role the new city library in Halmstad has for its users. The questions posed in this study are: What do the users actually do at the library? What roles are the most significant according to the users? Have the politicians succeeded in their intention of realizing a modern library according to the users? The theoretical starting point is Andersson?s and Skot-Hansen?s theory of four different roles of public libraries. In order to extend the model we added a fifth function; the one of aesthetical experience.

Many professions, such as doctors and psychologists, have a long history of work practice which have resulted that these professions have created their own ethical guidelines. The IT profession, which can be viewed as a relative young and somewhat immature profession, have yet to accommodate any clear guidelines regarding ethics. It?s therefore imperative to create discussions regarding ethical actions to raise the ethical awareness and also create ethical guidelines. The development of the IT profession is moving forward at a quick pace and it?s important to understand that this rapid advancement is not only changing the profession but also changing the society and the environment.

This thesis intends to examine the role of the city, Dublin, in the Irish economic growth during the 1990s. It is a case study where Dublin is compared with current theories on post modern cities as growth machines and increasingly prominent actors in the global context. The study has an interdisciplinary approach but focuses on political science issues such as power distribution, global-local governance and local political organisation. It is a theory driven study that also intends to add aspects to the understanding of the cities of our time. I argue that Dublin has faced a lot of changes during the last decades in accordance with the post modern city.

Detta dokument är en rapport av ett examensarbete skrivet av Mathias Nohall och Mahmudul Hazra på intuitionen för kommunikation och informationsteknik på Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan, KTH, i Stockholm, Sverige. Rapporten presenterar ett projekt där examensarbetarna har utvecklat en webbportal åt Södertörns studentkår, där studenter kan söka efter lägenheter som allmänheten kan hyra ut.Rapporten presenterar en förundersökning, med tillhörande teknisk analys. I denna förundersökning presenteras projektets bakgrund, mål och syfte. Förundersökningen innefattar även teoretiska utredningar där potentiella tekniska lösningar och webbhotell samt projektmetoder presenteras.Projektrapporten går sedan in i utförande kapitlet där examensarbetarna presenterar mer i detalj hur de har gått tillväga. Projektmetoden beskrivs mer utförligt med iterationer, implementeringar samt driftsättning av applikationen till rapport och redovisning av projektet.Sedan presenteras en teknisk analys av ramverket samt hur detta är integrerat med applikationens kod.

Det är en betydande andel svenska resenärer som idag reser till och runt i Thailand som ?backpackers?. Mitt syfte är att ta reda på om den svenska backpackerdominansen i Thailand skulle kunna betecknas som en kolonisering. Material och metod består av intervjuer och deltagande observation med sju informanter, samt fältundersökningar som bedrivits i Thailand. Slutresultatet tolkas med hjälp av den postkoloniala teoribildningen.

This essay deals with the principle of surprise warfare and its development as well as the adaptation of military action that had to be made to surprise the opponent in the modern era.The concept of surprise is divided into its components in order to clarify what is required to implement a surprising maneuver, to understand the complex concept and form a theoretical framework for gathering facts in the case study.Development and adaption are demonstrated by a comparative case study where Pearl Harbor illustrates an example of historical surprise and Operation Desert Storm illustrates a modern surprise. The product will then be analyzed in order to detect the development and how military conduct is forced to adapt in order to carry out a surprising maneuver. The results shows that the military action of performing a surprise attack has had a major development and is now carried out in a different stage of the attack..

En fallstudie i huruvida mångfalden av valmöjligheter och funktioner i en modern synth påverkar musikskapandeprocessen. Undersökningen fokuseras på att undersöka hur dagens kompositörer använder sig av ljudskapande i moderna synthar. Syftet med denna undersökning är att se om mångfald av funktioner i en modern synth påverkar musikskapandet, för att ge läsaren en tankeställare angående arbetsflödet i sitt musikskapande, så att en effektivisering av processen kan tillämpas och att om möjligt, ge rum för mera musikskapande och mindre teknikförståelse. Denna undersökning gjordes genom att genomföra ett antal intervjuer samt en kompletterande enkätundersökning. Slutstsen jag kommit fram till är att en mångfald av funktioner påverkar musikskapandet, antingen negativt eller positivt beroende på genre och kompositörens erfarenhet av synthar..

Undersökningen anknyter till Skånes danska förflutna. Riksdagen år 1720 bildar en bas för undersökningen, där de skånska deltagarnas agerande ska hamna i fokus. Deltagandet kommer att följas utifrån en diskussion kring statsbyggnadsprocesser och kollektiva identiteter, där jag är intresserad av att undersöka om det finns något i de skånska representanternas sätt att uttrycka sig som går att härleda till deras tidigare danska rikstillhörighet..

Denna studie undersöker ett problem hos en butik ingående i en kedja därförsäljning av lagerförda varor utgör större delen av verksamheten. Det upplevda problemet är dock att försäljning av varor som faller utanför det lagerförda sortimentet hanteras som beställningar på papper och för hand, vilket upplevs fungera bristfälligt och med oreda som resultat. Syftet med denna studie var att hitta lösningar på dessa problem då de föll utanför organisationens befintliga informationssystem. För att undersöka problemet vi intervjuat personal angående deras befintliga arbetssätt. Baserat på detta tog vi fram användarfall som beskrev processen.

In system development it is today increasingly common to use a model-based system development method. These methods that are suited for Agile work with simple and quick updates and implementations of new applications in systems conform to the requirements that are becoming more important today, namely more flexible and less expensive system that still maintain high quality and safety.A company that has been working with this type of system development method for a long time is Genicore AB, which also has developed their own tools and model language in order to better model the information management systems in complex and abstract operations. Genicore AB is trying to spread their method other developers and have therefore taken the initiative to start this study. The method is evaluated and tested by two students with relatively little experience in model-based systems engineering in order to gain a new perspective on how the method functions. The method has been applied to an educational activity in order to test it in a new domain, and this led us to our research question;?What criteria are of particular relevance in the implementation of a MBSD method on on complex businesses??Through literature reviews and interviews, we formed an idea of how model-based system development works from a theoretical perspective, and then continued to the case study conducted on the educational activities at the faculty of IT at University of Gothenburg.

The aim of this master?s thesis is to examine how male and female stereotypes are used to describe the characters in modern detective stories for children. We have analyzed six books in the aforementioned genre written for children between the ages of 9 and 12. This essay examines which inner qualities, appearances, activities and professions are used to describe the persons? character in the analyzed books and if these stereotypes agree with the person?s biological sex.
