The stories of the essay are analyzed by the questions:? What are the themes? ? What kind of language and style is it? ? What are the messages?The essay is based on a comparing analyze, the stories are especially analyzed by Sabry Hafez? theories about the modern Arabic short story. Interviews with the two writers have been made.

The aim of this master thesis is to investigate how parents? in multilingual families perceive language learning and reading for young children, and how their practice of this can be understood in relation to their language situation and cultural background.This study focuses on the interaction between parents? and young children in the light of the literacy practice. Important concepts such as early childhood literacy and family literacy have been used to study language, culture and literacy practice as phenomena that interact. The theoretical framework is a sociocultural perspective. Through qualitative interviews with seven parents?, it was found that multilingual families have a strong ambition for their children to learn all the languages spoken in the family.

he purpose of this master thesis is to learn more about the ancient Alexandrian Library. The method used in this thesis is methodology of history, especially a critical attitude when it comes to evaluating the ancient texts. I put forward three questions to which I desire to find answers. First: What do the sources from Antiquity tell about the Alexandrian library? Second: How do modern writers of books on the subject use these sources? Thirdly: I look into the possible historical and cultural reasons that the first of the Ptolemaic kings could have had for establishing the Mouseion and the Library of Alexandria.

In Sweden it is of major concern to the society that every individual get the same possibilities to be able to complete and affect their education. Despite this some students with a foreign background have difficulties when it comes to homework?s. This is contrary to the goals that the government strives for, which is a more just society. The aim of this study is to analyze five elementary schoolteacher?s experiences and attitudes against the homework for students with two languages.

The purpose of the present study is to investigate mindfulness as a New Age phenomenon in the modern western society. Since a religious phenomenon does not exist in a vacuum, but is dependent on its historical and cultural context, my aim is to give a broad depiction of mindfulness and New Age in its wider context, the historical background and the societal implications of common values, themes and concepts that are frequent in the literature, how mindfulness is presented by the authors of popular literature and also how it is presented in science. In order to bring forward a deeper understanding of New Age and mindfulness? role in the modern western society, my intention is to see how the authors of mindfulness claim validity of their doctrines in the discourse. Mindfulness attracts a wide range of perpetrators and is used in many areas in the society today.

This study is based on interviews with six students from Stockholm that have shared their feelings/opinions about how they experience their identity as a student. The aim of this master?s thesis is to examine how the identity of students is constructed but also how the post modern society affects the life that the students are living. With a higher demand on education and responsibility of making the right decisions, the student?s main concern is not only her studies, but also the goal to succeed in her life.

Det här är en teoretisk uppsats inom ämnet retorik med syftet att med hjälp av en modern omtolkning av statusläran söka en vidare förståelse för hur motargumentation bör förstås. Teorin tar sin utgångspunkt i idén om att kombinera statusläran med enthymemet. Uppsatsen diskuterar även hur en ny tolkning av statusläran kan komma till användning i en argumentationsanalys. Frågor som uppsatsen berör är: hur bör vi teoretiskt förstå motargumentation som företeelse? Vilka olika sorters motargument finns det? Och vad får det för inverkan på vårt sätt att göra argumentationsanalys? .

Undersökningen grundar sig i två kyrkor i Uppsala stift, Gamla Uppsala kyrka och S:ta Maria kyrka.   Urvalet är begränsat till att beröra konst från 1200-talet fram till modern tid. Metoden som använts är ikonografisk bildanalys av altartavlor och altarskåp i de utvalda kyrkorna likväl som forskning i kyrkokonstens utveckling i modern och gammal litteratur. Genom undersökning av skriftverket Biblia Pauperum dras slutsatser gällande den äldre kyrkokonstens inspirationer.   Undersökningen påvisar att en utveckling har skett inom kyrkokonsten. Konstnärerna har fått en större frihet i val av innehåll och form på konsten som beställs.

Through this thesis I aimed to further investigate how we can adapt our western and modern views of masculinity and femininity in an ancient population, here on the Pitted Ware population from Ajvide on Gotland. A questionnaire survey was used to compile the modern view of masculinity and femininity. This modern view was then compared with patterns which had become visible through statistical processing of the burial gifts found on Ajvide. The thesis is mainly focused around the concept of gender, but age and status have also been discussed. Through several performed correspondence analysis, it became clear that the current view of male and female differed from the one that became visible in the archaeological record.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate whether or not capitalism, viewed here as the system that is currently the dominant economic system in the Western world, can be seen as a modern myth or not. An author, Brian Tracy, of several popular self-help books is the target of this investigation and the language he uses in his books have been scrutinized in order to see whether or not he uses a religiously influenced, and more importantly, myth-creating language. In order to do so, Bruce Lincolns theories of myth have been used in correlation with Stefan Arvidssons definition ov myths. Also of interest is whether or not Tracy in his books uses any of the instruments of power defined by Michel Foucault to support his claims.The investigation shows that capitalism indeed can be seen as a modern myth. This claim is supported by the facts that Tracy not only uses a language heavily influenced by Christian texts and belief but furthermore because he descirbes himself and the people he claims to have helped in a way that strongly resembles the narratives of myths.

Denna uppsats belyser vad som är utmärkande för en tysk myndighetstext om EU som är skriven för Internet och vilka översättningsproblem som kan uppstå i arbetet med att överföra den tyska källtexten till målspråket svenska. Uppsatsens empiriska undersökning tar upp vilka rekommendationer svenska klarspråksregler ger om hur framförställda attributiva satsförkortningar, pronominaladverb och relativpronomen ska skrivas på svenska. Hypotesen för uppsatsen är att en översättning ibland kan bli tydligare och klarare i sitt språk om man ibland avviker från de moderna klarspråksreglerna och istället använder sig av äldre stilideal. Genom att undersöka hur konstruktionerna har översatts från tyska till svenska förs en diskussion om när klarspråksreglerna är tillämpbara och när det är motiverat att avvika från dem för att få en så klar och tydlig översättning som möjligt.Examensarbetet på Facköversättarutbildningen vid Lunds universitet är uppdelat i en översättning (10 p.) och en analysdel (10 p.). This master?s thesis will try to describe the beginning and development towards a modern public library of the town library in Karlskrona between 1906 and 1959. The specific years refers to the year the library was established and the year it moved to the new library building in the centre of Karlskrona. The aim of the thesis has been to do this historical description and to look at the course from the perspective of the national policies and development for the Swedish modern public library. The thesis is based mainly on reports of the proceedings of the public library and other biographical documents and literature, which has been found in two local archives.

Jag har för denna uppsats granskat språkbruket i samtliga riksdagspartiers jämställdhetsplaner, i avseendet språk och kön, detta för att undersöka hur språkbruket ser ut för aspekterna personliga pronomina, titlar och personbeteckningar, böjning av adjektiv i naturligt genus, förekomst av ord och ordkombinationer som ?kvinnor?, ?män? och ?kvinnor och män? och snarlika ord samt omskrivningar. De partier som omfattas av min undersökning är centerpartiet, folkpartiet, kristdemokraterna, miljöpartiet, moderaterna, socialdemokraterna och vänsterpartiet.Mitt syfte med uppsatsen är att se i hur stor grad riksdagspartierna använder ett jämställt språk. Fokus i min uppsats ligger på att analysera hur de olika partiernas texter är uppbyggda och vilka språkliga verktyg partierna använder sig av för att språket inte ska upplevas obalanserat eller riktat till endast ett av könen. En kartläggning av språkbruket i jämställdhetsplanerna kan visa på ambitionen att skriva könsneutralt, vilka strategier som tillämpas för att kringgå könsmarkörer samt eventuella omedvetna könsmarkeringar.
