Uppsatsens syfte är att visa hur den lokala järnvägspolitiken i Halland såg ut på 1800-talet och även göra en komparativ analys med Ostkustbanan. Finansieringen av järnvägsprojekten i Sverige utfördes främst av staten, medan planerandet och byggandet till stor del präglades av lokala beslut. Debatten inom järnvägspolitiken i Halland granskas med hjälp av en teori hämtad från Fredrik Anderssons avhandling Mot framtiden på gamla spår? Regionala intressegrupper och beslutsprocesser kring kustjärnvägarna i Norrland under 1900-talet. Den komparativa analysen mellan Ostkustbanan och järnvägarna i Halland går in både på järnvägspolitiken och sedan hur de olika järnvägarnas kom att förstatligas.

This study is about how teachers of history at different upper secondary schools in Uppsala think and talk about the role language plays in the classroom and in education in general. In order to find this out, interviews were carried out with five teachers of history at four different upper secondary schools in Uppsala. This study has an analysis of the statements by and interviews with the teachers in a wide context by using a previous study carried out in Uppsala, which categorizes the upper secondary schools of Uppsala into a social field based upon what assets their students have. These assets are estimated by using Bourdieu?s theory of symbolic, social and cultural capital.

Fritänkarrörelsen, som den gestaltade sig under 1800-talets två sista decennier, är i den mån man kan tala om den som en egen rörelse relativt outforskad som sin egen helhet. Förutom några få undantag finns i första hand biografier över några av de ledande personerna inom fritänkarrörelsen, framför allt om de personer som var delaktiga i skapandet av de många stora folkrörelser som såg dagens ljus under denna tid. Folkrörelserna och ideologierna har i sina historieskildringar tagit med fritänkarna som en del av sitt ursprung. Det som kan saknas är en översiktlig genomgång av de gemensamma tankar och idéer som var centrala för dem som kallade sig själva fritänkare. Även om denna uppsats i sig inte i första hand är ett begreppsanalytiskt arbete så består en del av undersökningen av ett utredande av begrepp, översiktlig beskrivning av de olika grupperna inom fritänkeriet och dess idéinnehåll samt presentation av några av de mest tongivande agitatorerna.

This thesis intends to examine the role of the city, Dublin, in the Irish economic growth during the 1990s. It is a case study where Dublin is compared with current theories on post modern cities as growth machines and increasingly prominent actors in the global context. The study has an interdisciplinary approach but focuses on political science issues such as power distribution, global-local governance and local political organisation. It is a theory driven study that also intends to add aspects to the understanding of the cities of our time. I argue that Dublin has faced a lot of changes during the last decades in accordance with the post modern city.

Title: Festivalernas Intåg ? Korröfestivalen- en bordunstämmas resa genom festivaliseringenThe Korrö festival- The establishment of a Swedish Folk Music Festival.This thesis describes how folk music festivals have been escalating during the past few and how they have influenced Swedish folk music. To reach my results I have been studying one festival in particular which is the Korrö Folk Music Festival. This event started in the mid-eighties as a small happening that attracted almost exclusively musicians that were a part of the bordooon movement. The bordoon movement gathered a couple of days in the summer at what they called the ?Korrö bordunstämma? to build instruments and play folk music.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka vilka hinder som fanns att få till stånd jämlika möten över- och underklassen under det sena 1800-talet i Stockholm. Ett ytterligare syfte är att granska hur den borgerliga kvinnan respektive arbetarkvinnan konstruerades av sig själv och av varandra. Materialet som granskas är anteckningar från Samkväm för kvinnor ur olika yrkesgrupper och protokoll från Stockholms Allmänna Kvinnoklubb.Metoden som används är hermeneutisk och teorierna som används är den där Simone de Beauvoir beskriver hur den andra konstrueras, samt Karin Johannissons slutsatser om hur arbetarkvinnan närmast ansågs som en annan ras under det sena 1800-talet.Undersökningen visar att det fanns en uppriktig vilja bland de borgerliga kvinnorna att mötas på jämlika villkor. Men de ekonomiska skillnaderna skapade hinder för det, liksom tidens föreställningar om arbeterskan.Hur den borgerliga kvinnan konstrueras av arbeterskorna framträder inte tillräckligt tydligt för att kunna dra några generella slutsatser av, medan hon av ?de sina? betraktas som det självklara subjektet.

The main part of this work is focused on the era called ?The Folk Music Vogue?, which was the era when my informants were in the limelight on the Swedish fiddler scene of the 70s.Our music culture is constantly lying under the change of progress and I find it interesting to reflect how these kinds of changes are affecting the role of the musician.In this essay I am reflecting on the different perspectives of the musicianship according to my informants and how they both are referring to their role as musicians. The purpose is further on to see how they have been relating to the change of progress on the field of the Swedish folk music during the 70s and up to this date. Trä var en väldigt viktig råvara under medeltiden, och användes till alla möjliga olika ändamål. Tillgången var dock inte obegränsad, och som ovanstående paragrafer visar, var man tvungen att reglera skogen och tillgången till virke i lag.Min egen nyfikenhet för ämnet kommer sig av ett begynnande trähantverksintresse. Jag har läst mycket engelsk litteratur om träslöjd och snickeri, och som medeltidsarkeolog funderar man hela tiden över hur de gjorde tekniska lösningar på den tiden. Jag fascineras av de olika träslagens egenskaper, den hårda och tunga eken, den starka och böjliga asken och de fina sniderier man kan göra i lind, men när man kommer till dagens trävaruhus finns nästan bara gran och fur att köpa. På grund av detta beslutade jag mig för att undersöka hur mångfalden av träslag såg ut under den skånska medeltiden, och hur man använde dem..

Det är en betydande andel svenska resenärer som idag reser till och runt i Thailand som ?backpackers?. Mitt syfte är att ta reda på om den svenska backpackerdominansen i Thailand skulle kunna betecknas som en kolonisering. Material och metod består av intervjuer och deltagande observation med sju informanter, samt fältundersökningar som bedrivits i Thailand. Slutresultatet tolkas med hjälp av den postkoloniala teoribildningen.

Denna studie har som syfte att undersöka förmyndarskap i Trosa stadsförsamling på slutet av 1800-talet. Det material som använts för att uppnå detta syfte består av förmyndarskapsprotokoll från Trosa rådstugerätt och magistrat mellan 1875-1891, samt förmyndarskapsförteckningar för samma period. Resultatet visar att antalet omyndiga vilka förordnats förmyndare sjönk stadigt från undersökningsperiodens början mot dess slut. Resultatet visar också på att änkor tydligt betroddes att vara förmyndare åt sina egna barn under perioden. När det gäller förmyndarna så visar undersökningsresultatet på att det var en klar social skiktning i valet av förmyndare.

By employing his background as a documentary filmmaker, Antonioni used these skills to help establish his own particular style. There was a distinct evolution of style which progressed during his triology L´Avventura, La Notte and L´Eclisse, 1959-1962. This theises presents a comperative study between his earlier films in black and white and his first color film - Il deserto roso, from 1964. By observing color in relation to narrative, dialouge, acting and elements of mise-en-scène, I suggest different answers than those previously discussed among critics concerning this interrelationship.

This essay discusses the issue of the role of women and also whether they could obtain a strong social position during the Viking Age. Moreover, it does discuss the question of how frequent women were present in Viking Age scriptures, art and archaeological artefacts in comparison to our view of women and her position in the modern society. The archaeological material used is in majority that found in Birka, such as burial and habitational findings. These objects, as well as other comparable and similar findings from other places, when put together with written sources, show that women had different roles in the society. She was able to have a strong social role during the Viking Age not only becauseof the status her family had but also because of her own merit depending of her skills and ability.The archaeological findings found in female graves and other findings in the area, suggest a specializing within both textile production and trade for the women.

This essay examines the possibilities of writing a counter history about Anne Charlotte Leffler that does not have - like most of the previous studies and literary histories upon Leffler - the Swedish boundaries or the Swedish language as its model. That is to say that this essay, in opposition to most of the hitherto writings on Anne Charlotte Leffler, values the international reception as high as the Swedish reception. It does so by undertaking a case study based on the German review Deutsche Rundschau, which published six short stories by and three articles about Anne Charlotte Leffler between 1884 and 1894. The short stories and the articles in Deutsche Rundschau are compared with two other documents of reception that contribute to the understanding of the German reception of Leffler. The examination shows that the focus on the international reception can contribute to illuminate aspects of Anne Charlotte Lefflers authorship that previously have been disregarded.
