The purpose with this essay was to examine how to work with literary history in school, and whether and how to work with regional literature history. To fulfill the purpose of this paper three high school teacher in Swedish were interviewed.The survey shows that respondents working in various ways with the history of literature, either in the eras, themes or projects. The perception of what literature and the authors to be affected varies between respondents, particularly the perception of the work about authors from Värmland.

This study of Swedish history books for grade 9 will examine and compare what the books say about The Holocaust and how it is presented. I analyse how the books present The Holocaust and how it is portrayed. I use questions to evaluate the content of the texts and thereafter I compare them to each other. My hypothesis is that history books are affected by the society in which they are written. Therefore I think that comparing books from different years, I will be able to see a difference between the books when it comes to the way they choose to present The Holocaust.

Flertalet bilderböckers olika sätt att skildra denna moderna teknik, i person och miljöskildring och som verktyg för fantastiska portar mellan olika världar analyseras och diskuteras utifrån hur användandet ser ut i verkligheten i dagens samhälle. Materialet består av åtta svenska bilderböcker utgivna år 1998 och senare. .

Uppsatsen har sin utgångspunkt i det faktiska material som finns i tio valda tidningar gällande telegramnyheter. De valda tidningarna har analyserats genom syntetiska veckor i fem årgångar för att få fram en bild av hur förekomsten av telegramnyheter i svensk press såg ut under slutet av 1800-talet. För att se det statistiska material genom ett par teoretiska glasögon, analyseras resultatet genom Benedict Andersons teori om en föreställd, nationell gemenskap. Frågan är primärt hur förekomsten av telegramnyheter ser ut och på ett mindre, sekundärt plan om telegramnyheten bidrar till den svenska pressens stärkande av den nationella föreställningen? För att få en inblick i telegramnyheten inleds uppsatsen med en historisk kontextualiseringen, som ska vara till hjälp för läsaren att förstå bakgrunden till dess utveckling, både på ett internationellt, men dock främst, nationellt plan..

Syftet med uppsatsen är att belysa en aspekt av Faluns omvandling till modern stad. Den del i denna modernisering som vidrörs i uppsatsen är införandet av elektrisk gatubelysning. Materialet som har använts för undersökningen är protokoll från stadsfullmäktige och drätselkammare i Falun under perioden 1863-1888. This research addresses the issues of identity and culture in Latvia in the context of the upcoming European Union enlargement in 2004. Political self- determination of Latvia was historically indebted to culture. The phenomenon of cultural identity, so important 12 years ago when Latvian independence was regained, is largely ignored by politicians in the upcoming enlargement process. This is especially worth attention since the 8-th parliamentary elections took place in October 2002. The obvious lack of interest in cultural issues on the part of politicians is compensated by the apprehensions in the society (reflected in mass media) to loose Latvian specific culture and identity when joining the big European family.

Ämnet som behandlas i denna uppsats är förnamnsutvecklingen i de två värmländska församlingarna Karlstad och Ekshärad. Det är två typer av utvecklingar som studerats. Dels hur många förnamn föräldrarna gav sina barn under perioden 1800-1920, dels vilka förnamn som gavs de nyfödda barnen mellan åren 1800-1859.Vad gäller hur många förnamn barnen fick så var det under hela 1800-talet stor skillnad mellan de båda församlingarna. I Karlstad fick en majoritet på mellan 60 och 80 procent av barnen två förnamn. I Ekshärad var det däremot mer vanligt att endast ge dem ett.

The aim of this study is to analyze the construction of "Christian masculinity" during the modern era. This is made in opposition to earlier research that has claimed that masculinity could not be constructed religiously, that is, without at the same time being constructed as effeminate or anti-masculine.Using a wide variety of theoretical concepts - such as discourse analysis, class, secularisation, masculinity as constructed from countertypes, and finally masculinity as a homosocial construction - I analyze a free church in Sweden, the Scanian Missionary Society (Skånes Missionssällskap), during the period of ca 1939-1945 (the society was a district of the Swedish Covenant Church, or Svenska Missionsförbundet), in order to argue for the standpoint that masculinity, in fact, could be constructed religiously. Läraryrkets ställning är ett återkommande tema i dagens debatter om skolan. Denna studie försöker kartlägga hur läraryrkets ställning såg ut på 1800-talet, genom att jämföra enskilda lärares minnesanteckningar med den utbildningshistoriska forskning som finns om ämnet idag, samt genom en internationell jämförelse. Lärarminnena som utgör källmaterialet till denna studie är skrivna av fyra manliga folkskollärare och en kvinnlig småskolelärarinna. Den forskningen som fungerar som den teoretiska ramen för denna studie har avgränsat tre strukturer som formar läraryrket: den sociala strukturen, den kulturella strukturen samt lärares agentskap. Uppsatsens syfte är att öka kunskapen om läraryrkets status under 1800-talet genom att undersöka huruvida dessa strukturer har påverkat lärarens ställning.

The aim of this essay is to illustrate a modern phenomenon, the Olympic Games, by applying the ideas of Mircea Eliade concerning space, time and myth. This literature study is mainly divided in two parts, one descriptive and one analytic. In the first part Eliade?s ideas and some criticism, which has been pointed against his theoretical approaches as well as his character, are presented. In the second part an analysis is carried out, based on the previously presented ideas and elements essential for the Olympics; the idea of the Olympics, the place, the ceremonies, the competition and the concept of individual idolism.I have discussed what seems like gnostic tendencies in Eliade?s ideas, in the sense that both Eliade?s ideas and the concept of Gnosticism argue that knowledge is a necessary condition for salvation, as well as the fact that Eliade and his ideas have not always a pro-Christian approach.

Uppsatsen har huvudsakligen undersökt vad den svenska missionen i Öst- och Centralafrika, mellan ca 1800-1900 har fått för konsekvenser för de länder där missioneringen pågick, samt hur den kan ha format de samfund som bedrev missionen från Sverige. Syftet var att utröna vad missionens uppdrag egentligen gick ut på och hur den bedrevs. En litteraturstudie har genomförts för att ge en överskådlig sammanfattning av den svenska missionen. I uppsatsen har presenterats vilka motiv som ligger bakom missionering. Både teologiska, men även etiska och moraliska motiv.
