It has been proposed that pidgin languages are similar in their marking of tense and aspect. This study wishes to answer three questions: 1) are there similarities in the marking of tense and aspect in pidgins, 2) are there similarities between the source languages and the pidgins they result in, and 3) does the development of tense aspect marking in pidgins follow the general patterns of grammaticalisation observed in other languages. Two quite different approaches are used to analyse the languages. Firstly the concept of grams is used, that is, a representation of a grammatical category in a specific language, e.g. the perfect in Swedish.

I denna uppsats har språket i 504 svenska internetforuminlägg skrivna av personer i åldrarna 20-25 år och 40 år och äldre undersökts. Inläggens språkliga form har undersökts genom att förekomsten av tio olika okonventionella språkdrag hämtade från menings-, ord- och teckennivå har analyserats. Analysen av inläggen visar att det finns ett tydligt samband mellan språket i inläggen och skribentens ålder. Den yngre gruppen forumdeltagares inlägg karakteriseras av ett stort antal okonventionella språkdrag som anses vara typiska för datordialoger, medan den äldre gruppens inlägg innehåller färre sådana okonventionella språkdrag och alltså istället har ett språk som i högre utsträckning följer den traditionella skriftspråksnormen..

In Sweden it is of major concern to the society that every individual get the same possibilities to be able to complete and affect their education. Despite this some students with a foreign background have difficulties when it comes to homework?s. This is contrary to the goals that the government strives for, which is a more just society. The question is how you should treat them and ease their development of languages.The purpose with this work is to find answers to the question if bilingual children develop their languages by the same method as monolingual and how one as an educationalist can make these children?s development of language easier.The papers preface is a part of literature that describes different researchers view on the bilingual children?s development of language and how one, as an educationalist, can ease it.To my study I have chosen to interview three educationalists in preschool who all work with bilingual children.

The purpose of this essay is to examine the importance of personal election for candidates of foreign background. I made this, first, by map and comparing the candidates of foreign background in the recent Swedish and Finnish parliamentary election. Second, I analyze what conceptions candidates of foreign background, who was nominated in the 2006 municipal election in Örebro, have about the personal election. The result from the first study shows that personal election had a negative impact on candidates of foreign background in both the Swedish and Finnish parliamentary elections. The result from the second study shows that candidates of foreign background have both positive and negative conceptions about the personal election.

This thesis intends to examine the role of the city, Dublin, in the Irish economic growth during the 1990s. It is a case study where Dublin is compared with current theories on post modern cities as growth machines and increasingly prominent actors in the global context. The study has an interdisciplinary approach but focuses on political science issues such as power distribution, global-local governance and local political organisation. It is a theory driven study that also intends to add aspects to the understanding of the cities of our time. I argue that Dublin has faced a lot of changes during the last decades in accordance with the post modern city.

Globalisation and diversity has increased the presence of different languages in Swedish municipalities. As the local administrative authorities with responsibility for the public crisis management, how are these municipalities coping with crisis communication recipients that are not speaking Swedish? Through an inductive approach, this thesis formulates a theory of crisis communication adaptation by studying Swedish municipalities with a large part of inhabitants with foreign backgrounds. This thesis finds that municipalities that are not adapting their crisis communication to non-Swedish speakers follows a discourse that paints a picture of these recipients as at least understanding the Swedish language. Municipalities that do adapt their crisis communication have drawn lessons from local incidents that complements this discourse.

Abstract The purpose of this study is to examine if the Swedish policy of foreign affairs has been changed due to the Swedish enter as members in the European Union. Studien görs med utgångspunkt i ett vidgat lektbegrepp, vilket inkluderar såväl produktion som konsumtion och reception av texter (enligt ett vidgat textbegrepp) samt attityder och handlingsberedskaper till olika språkliga varieteter.Analysen visar utvecklingen av och växelverkan mellan informantens två språk under olika perioder av hennes liv. Konvergent och divergent ackommodation beroende på lojaliteter och aversioner gentemot olika grupper och individer påverkar på olika sätt utformandet av informantens två idiolekter. En analys görs också av hur dialekt, etnolekt, sociolekt, kronolekt och sexolekt samverkar i utformandet av informantens svenska idiolekt av idag..

We have inquired into how the amount of foreign news has changed over the last 30 years in two major Swedish newspapers, which subjects and regions has dominated the content of the foreign news and what subjects dominate the reporting from certain regions. This was done with a quantitative analysis of subjects and regions written about in 1100 news texts during a week in each year of 1978, 1988, 1998 and 2008. To further broaden our study, we also charted with the analysis how the newspapers domesticate foreign news and how they use international news agencies. As a basis for our discussion we use Van Ginnekens theories of world news centres, Westerståhl & Johanssons and Galtung & Ruges theories of foreign news selection as well as the theories of Hjarvard and Biltereyst about the domestication of foreign news due to commercial pressures and objectives on the newspapers. Our result of the amount of foreign news in the two newspapers is also compared to several similar empirical studies by different researchers.

Som i många andra dialekter och språkvarieteter har det vokabulär som är specifikt skånskt förändrats under årens lopp och det befaras att dialekten kommer att förändras för att bli mer lik rikssvenska. I föreliggande uppsats studeras betydelseutveckling hos adjektiv i den skånska dialekten.Omkring femtio ord har undersökts med avsikt att beskriva förändring av betydelse i förhållande till bland annat ålder. Valet av adjektiv gjordes med hänsyn till det faktum att betydelse hos denna ordgrupp i vissa avseenden kan anpassas och följa med tiden på ett annat sätt än ord ur andra ordklasser. Undersökningen visar att förändring i relation till betydelse har ägt rum under den tidsperiod som behandlas. Tidsomfånget är hundrafemtio år, med avstamp i 1800-talets mitt och med ändpunkt bland dagens skånska talare..
