The aim of this thesis is to explore the institutional design of Participatory Budgeting (PB) in Sweden and how the design may contribute to realize central democratic goods. The study records the different PB experiences in Sweden and focuses on one particular case, which is the only case that successfully qualifies as a genuine PB-process according to international standards and definitions. To examine this, the following questions are asked: which municipalities in Sweden have implemented Participatory Budgeting? How can the institutional design of Participatory Budgeting be described and to what extent does it enable the realization of central democratic goods? To what extent does the institutional design enable the realization of the democratic goods inclusion, popular control, considered judgment and transparency? To what extent does the institutional design enable the realization of the institutional goods of efficiency and transferability?The study is based on an institutional theory of democracy. The method used is a mixed method ideal type analysis that combines document analysis, surveys and interviews.

Pomace is the solid remains (i.e. stems, pulp, seeds, and skins) after pressing for juice. The annual production of apple pomace is 593 000 ton worldwide. Its field of application depends on local conditions. In order to investigate the field of application of apple pomace in the Southern Sweden, six persons on companies with production of apple juice were interviewed.

My purpose with this essay is to examine the relationship between esthetic learning processes and language development to find good practices in my work with multilingual children. In my report, I describe a few activities from my work as a preschool pedagogue in a multicultural area, with a large group of children where age and knowledge of Swedish varies. The background to this essay is the problems I experienced in my work with children´s language development in an organization that, in my opinion, is limited by economic factors. The questions I poses are about the way esthetic learning processes can help children develop their language skills as well as their participation in preschool activities. I also pose the question whether there is a connection between the musical ear and children´s development of language.

Allteftersom livslängden ökar i Sveriges demografiska struktur höjs andelen äldre i befolkningen vilket skapar en ökad efterfrågan av äldreomsorg. För att möta denna efterfrågan krävs ny kunskap, förändringar och förbättringar om hur vi i framtiden kan garantera våra äldre god vårdkvalitet. Genom att använda en mixed-methods design bestående utav datainsamling från kvalitativa och kvantitativa observationer är denna studies syfte att undersöka och beskriva interaktionen mellan vårdgivare och vårdtagare utifrån ett teoretiskt ramverk baserat på social resursteori och en modell för interpersonellt resursutbyte. Studiens primära forskningsfråga är att undersöka vilka interpersonella resurser som utbyts mellan vårdgivare och vårdtagare. Studiens resultat rapporterar att ett brett spektrum av resurser utbyts mellan aktörerna och analysen presenterar två komplimenterande teoretiska dimensioner i vilka olika typer av resursutbyten sker, en socialt orienterad dimension och en uppgiftsorienterad dimension.

To describe your profession can sometimes be hard. Everyone knows what a music teacher is and what her work includes. But what about a eurhythmic teacher - who knows what she does? By experience my answer is: not many. Inthis essay I have outlined differences in method and lecture planning between a eurhythmic and a music teacher, to be able to find out the answer to my research question - what a eurhythmic teacher can contribute to the school subject music.I chose an observation research where I observed a mixed class with children from fourth and fifth grade.

Sweden has a natural gas grid extending along the west coast, from Trelleborg to Stenungsund. There are also several smaller local networks where a planned natural gas pipeline from Skutskär to Hofors prompted the need for a comprehensive study. This study examines the linkages that exist in terms of technology and market of natural gas and biogas in Sweden. Sweden has set high targets for the future with ambition to become independent of coal and oil as energy sources. Since 1985, a part of the solution has been import of Danish natural gas.

Uppsatsen ?Who you know becomes what you know? är en nätverksteoretisk mixedmetodstudie med syfte att kartlägga enskilda aktörers nätverk samt besvara frågeställningarna vilka förutsättningar för informationsspridning och group performance som går att härleda ur enskilda aktörers formella- och informella sociala nätverk. Studieobjektet för uppsatsen är MTR Stockholm som på uppdrag av Storstockholms lokaltrafik driver Stockholms tunnelbana. Organisationen har uppmärksammat att verksamhetsomårdet lokalvården klarat sina uppdrag med bravur senaste året efter att vissa organisatoriska förändringar har gjorts. Kommunikationsavdelningen tillsammans med uppsatsförfattaren kom därigenom fram till att en mikroundersökning av lokalvården vore intressant för att eventuellt kunna utveckla andra verksamhetsområden.Genom ett snöbollsurval har fem respondenter på olika positioner i organisationen inkluderats i studien.

Det finns mycket forskning som tyder på att nätverk är betydelsefullt på arbetsmarknaden. Forskningen har hittills fokuserat på de arbetssökande och vilken betydelse deras sociala nätverk har för att få ett jobb. I vår studie fokuserar vi däremot på de som sitter på ?andra sidan?. Uppsatsens fokus är de arbetsrelaterade nätverken hos fem kommunala jobbcoacher.

Many sexual crime matters are in a difficult position when it comes to proof, where it's word against word between the parties. However, the legislation states that it's the offender's actions that are to be in focus for the judicial judgement, but often the focus is on the woman, whether she said no and how she acted in that particular situation (Sutorius & Kaldal, 2003).The purpose with this essay was to investigate the professionals' view of the raped woman and what image the professionals convey/construct of the legal proceedings she goes through. With professionals, we mean lawyers and other professionals that function as support or treatment contacts for raped women. The questions we considered to be relevant for our investigation were: What image of the raped woman do the professionals convey? What image of the crime rape do the professionals convey and what image do they convey/construct of the legal proceedings the woman goes through? How is the view of the raped woman constructed in society? We considered qualitative interviews mixed with earlier studies and theories to be the best investigative method for our purpose.

This study is commissioned by the Swedish University of Agricultural Science (SLU - Department of Forest Resource Management) in coorporation with Sveaskog and Vilhelmina Norra Sami reindeer herding community. The purpose of this study is to analyse movement patterns and habitat use of reindeers during two winter seasons (2005/2006 and 2006/2007) in areas affected by forestry activities such as clearcutting. This study examines the possibilities of analysing information from Reindeer husbandry plans and forest variable data from kNN and SMD, in relation to GPS collar points from reindeers by using Geographical Information System (GIS). Lack of knowledge and understanding between the reindeer industry and the timber industry has often led to heated debates. The possibilities of using this type of technique are very interesting and could increase knowledge concerning land-use issues to different resource users. The main results from analyses comparing SMD, kNN, data about clearcuts, and GPS collar points from reindeers indicates that clearcut areas, younger forest, coniferous forest on lichen-dominated areas and areas dominated by pine was preferred by reindeers during the winter period.

This Master thesis is about a postal- and telegraphic building in Eskilstuna, Sweden. The construction methods for the specific building and buildings in general from the same time are described. The purpose of the report is to describe the loads acting on the building and how it has been built and why it has been rebuilt during the years. After this, possibilities of reconstruction and adaptation for today?s demands can be evaluated.

The large number of surrendered and feral cats is a big animal welfare problem all over the world. Populations of feral cats arise through a large number of unwanted cats which can lead to surrender of these, through cats allowed to roam free outside which can lead to the owner losing these and through the reproduction that occurs amongst these surrendered or lost cats. One aim of this study is to give an account of this problem. It is however difficult to draw general conclusions about these populations of cats since studies all over the world has been carried out on different types of populations, during different conditions and different periods of time. The welfare of many of these cats is presumably low because they are exposed to risks as disease, starvation, climate, traffic, other animals and humans.

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate how women who have incurred ACL injury for more than 10 years ago, feel that the injury affects them today.Method: A qualitative semi-structured interview survey with five women who 10- 28 years ago incurred the anterior cruciate ligament injuries when playing handball or soccer has been performed. The study has been inspired by a phenomenological concept of science, mainly by life-world concept. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis.Main result: Some informants have experienced severe loss of physical ability in both daily living situations and in training, while others did not appreciably felt impacted in daily living and experienced great opportunities for physical activity. Limitations which emerged were restrictions in movement, joint stiffness, pain, swelling, and crepitations that led to the loss of physical ability. One respondent had been diagnosed with advanced osteoarthritis.

Reaktionskrafter från monteringsverktyg är troligen en bidragande orsak till mångabelastningsskador i tillverkningsindustrin och monteringsarbete ligger också i topp istatistiken över arbetssjukdomar i Sverige.Idag används i stor utsträckning avancerat styrda verktyg, som kan programmeras så att dekänns bekväma, men det finns ingen utvärderingsmetod för reaktionsmoment som premierardessa funktioner. Dessutom tar dagens utvärderingsmetoder hänsyn till att människor är olikastarka i olika arbetsställningar.En utvärderingsmetods främsta syfte är att hjälpa till vid val av verktyg och vid bedömningom reaktionskraften kan tas upp för hand eller om mothåll bör användas. Tas inte operatörensstyrka beroende på arbetsställning med blir denna bedömning i många fall felaktig.Syftet med det här arbetet är att ta fram en bättre bedömningsmodell för reaktionsmomentfrån monteringsverktyg. Några krav som sätts på den förbättrade metoden är att den ska varaenkel att använda, mätningar ska inte behöva göras på verktyget och den ska ta hänsyn tillvariation i styrka beroende arbetsställning.En grupp om sju testpersoner sattes samman och de utvärderade reaktionsmomentet från envinkelmutterdragare i tre olika positioner. I varje position testades 6 olika typer avreaktionsmoment.

The background of this thesis is the lack of market information in residential real estate investments. A problem with this investment is that there is lack of information regarding risk adjusted return for real estates, which this thesis intends to present.Objective:The objective with this thesis is to study which alternative, directly-owned residential estates or stocks, who generates the highest risk adjusted return.
