The purpose of this thesis is to describe and analyze how the mining equipment producers on a global market manage to handle the changing conditions concerning customer value. Our approach has been a comparative analysis between two different sites in order to answer the purpose. The case studies at Metso Mining have been made through interviews and visits at two geographical markets, South America and Scandinavia. The theoretical framework applied on our empirical findings is based on Blue Ocean Strategy, Customer Value and Resourced Based View. The empirical foundation is based on interviews with Metso Mining employees at Sorocaba in Brazil and Kiruna/Gällivare, Trelleborg and Staffanstorp in Sweden.

Sustainable development has become more and more important over the past years. The term Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is closely connected to sustainable development and focuses on organizations responsibility towards the society and the environment in which it exists. Companies within the Mining industry were among the first to initiate CSR-work due to the fact that they have a great impact at the local community, both socially and environmentally. Today they are still in the forefront of the development of CSR-questions in general, and community involvement and development in particular. Earlier studies made on this area have focused on the strategic level of community involvement and development.

Data mining är de verktyg som kan användas för att ta reda på den informationen. Genom att upptäcka mönster och relationer i stora mängder data har Data mining gjort det möjligt att finna den kunskap man tidigare inte trodde fanns.

This study departs from Gállok, an area 40 kilometres northwest of the city Jokkmokk, in northern Sweden. This is a place to which local people and Saami reindeer herders have material interests and emotional bonds. The mining company JIMAB wants to prospect for extracting minerals from this area. In the summer of 2013 local people, Saamis and environmental activists gathered in Gállok in order to protest and make resistance against these plans. Activism was made, debate articles were written, demonstrations were organized and information about what was going on in Gállok was shared through social media.The aim of this study is to examine the cultural processes of the anti-mining movement, in particular the happenings in Gállok in summer 2013.

This degree project summarizes five years of education at the landscape architecture program at the Swedish University of Agriculture Sciences, SLU, Alnarp and the School of architecture at Royal Institute of Technology, KTH, Stockholm. The project has been carried out by Lovisa Berg and Per Crona in collaboration with DRIFT Scenkonst. This master project is based on the ongoing transformation of a former mining site in Ställberg, Bergslagen situated in central Sweden. The organization DRIFT is in the process of recreating to former industrial mining site as a green cultural center. Their field of artistic examination concerns existential questions connected to the site. The aim is to offer a place for both performing and experiencing contemporary performing arts in Bergslagen. Our objective is to contribute to the growth of the performing arts project and to demonstrate in concrete terms how a conversion of a mining area can be completed, while taking into account both its history and its new function.

Begreppet Big data brukar användas föratt beskriva stora datamängder. Syftet med denna studie har varit att geökad förståelse för hur Big data kan användas inom CRM.

AbstractFalu Copper Mine and Sustainable DevelopmentKarl-Markus AnsnaesFalu copper mine was Sweden?s oldest mine industry which lasted for almost a thousand years. Throughout the history its area has been vastly contaminated by sulfur oxide. The contaminations has created the mining area to an environmental risk zone which has the ability to spread out into the Falu River. The river has its connections to the Dal River which is discharging towards its mouth in the Baltic Sea.

Our starting point has been to examine how a project manager without knowledge of the industry is able to plan a project. And also which difficulties that may arise. A qualitative study was conducted at project managers who worked in the construction industry and events industry. Seven interviews were conducted, four in the construction sector and three in the events industry. Respondents are active as project manager in Värmland and Närkes counties.

The telecom and the IT-industry are converging, which creates new possibilities and threats for both existing mobile handset vendors and new entrants originating from the IT-industry. The purpose of this thesis is to explain how IT-players? entrance in the mobile handset industry affects the industry in regards of key success factors and value chain structure. This study has used dynamic theories to describe the mobile handset industry. The theories have helped us in understanding the characteristics and drivers of the industry and thereafter to identify the key success factors.

Concept description är en data mining-uppgift som strävar efter en begriplig beskrivning av koncept och klasser, inte exakta prediceringar. Syftet med studien är att visa hur prototypbaserad klustring kan skapa förståelse för en datamängds underliggande domän, enligt concept description. Experiment har utförts med data från pokerdomänen. Datamängden samlades in från ett low-limit, shorthanded bord, hos en av de stora Internetsiterna för online pokerspel. De två experimenten utfördes med samma datamängd, men där uppsättningen attribut skiljde sig åt.

Att gräva upp och återvinna värdefulla material från gamla deponier har en enorm miljöpotential i form av utvinning av resurser. I dagsläget innebär emellertid sådana återvinningsprojekt stora osäkerheter och därmed ekonomiska risker för företag. Anledningen är att det finns många deponier att välja mellan och dessa skiljer sig ofta åt med avseende på ålder, storlek, typ av avfall och lokalisering vilka alla är faktorer som direkt kan påverka om ett projekt blir lönsamt eller inte. För att minska de ekonomiska riskerna behöver företag i återvinningsbranschen på förhand kunna identifiera skillnader mellan olika deponier. I denna uppsats genomförs en systematisk litteraturöversikt över inventeringar av deponier.

Webbapplikationers komplexitet och mängden avancerade tjänster ökar. Loggning av aktiviteter kan öka förståelsen över användares beteenden och behov, men används i för stor mängd utan relevant information. Mer avancerade system medför ökade krav för prestandan och loggning blir än mer krävande för systemen. Det finns behov av smartare system, utveckling inom tekniker för prestandaförbättringar och tekniker för datainsamling. Arbetet kommer undersöka hur svarstider påverkas vid loggning av serverdata, enligt datainsamlingsfasen i web usage mining, beroende på lagringsstrategier.

The credit rating industry is a complex and fascinating industry. Its history stretches back more than 150 years and has gradually increased in importance. During its history the dynamics of the industry have changed. The extended-principal-agent model was developed by synthesizing different principal-agent-relationships into one model. This model provides a holistic understanding of the credit rating industry and illustrates the interdependence between the different relationships.

Background: The way in which corporate managers interpret, reason and evaluate uncertainties and constant changes, and how they take advantage of their experiences and wisdom can make a big difference for the long term survival of their companies. The requirements for efficiency and flexibility have increased in many ways, especially concerning the workforce needed and its degree of competency. In Sweden, employee recruiting industry has grown concurrently with the changes in the Swedish economy. Purpose: The purpose is to better understand the recruiting industry by performing a theoretical evaluation from a cognitive perspective. Delimitation: We intended to study the cognitive characteristics of the Swedish recruitment industry.

Rapporten behandlar arbetet att med data mining-metoder finna ett samband i insamlad information. Data mining är ett begrepp för att tillämpa artificiell intelligens på en större datamängd. Syftet är i detta fall att hitta ett sätt att klassificera dieselmotorer.Den datamängd som används kommer från mätningar vid testkörning av dieselmotorer och garantikostnader som motorerna ger upphov till efter leveransen från fabriken. Målet är att finna ett samband mellan testvärdena och kostnaden i syfte att kunna identifiera kostnadsbenägna motorer redan vid testkörningen.En klusteranalys görs med två olika tekniker, K-means method och Kohonen-nät, som visar att det föreligger ett svagt men ändå förnimbart samband. En jämförelse mellan teknikernas resultat och användbarhet görs.Två tekniker används till att bygga klassificeringsverktyg som skall kunna sortera ut motorerna med höga kostnader.
