To be able to produce baled silage at a low cost it?s very important that the bales have a high density. Density is measured in kg dry matter (DM) per cubic meter. The purpose with this report was to learn more about making silage in round bales and to how much the bale density varies between different brands of round balers.

When a forest stand is thinned a so called inoptimality loss can arise due to non-optimal decisions.  AbstractThis Master?s thesis analyses the dynamics of the medieval counterweight lever engine, ortrebuchet, a type of mechanical artillery. The purpose is to study the differences between different types of these machines, and see if computer simulations can be used to validate preserved advice on construction. Simulations include machines with a fixed counterweight, a hinged counterweight and a combination of both counterweights.Due to the almost complete lack of archaeological finds and insufficient historical source material there are still, after more than a century of research, many unanswered questions concerning the design and performance of these machines.The present study is based on an analysis by Jahsman (2004). A more detailed mathematical model employing Coulomb-friction is used.

The plants in the genus Elatine are characteristic for oligo and mesotrophic lakes. This study focuses on Elatine hexandra one of the four species in Sweden. It is stated as vulnerable by the National Environment Agency and a conservation plan with guidelines to preserve the plant in Sweden is under preparation. There have been a few previous studies investigating this plant in other countries but this is the first one for Sweden. På intiativ av Umeå Energi AB (UEAB) har det under våren 2011 pågått arbete med att införa, testa och utvärdera Laststyrning av fjärrvärme. Systemet har testats på Bostaden Umeå AB:s (BUAB) lägenhetkomplex på Liljansberget i Umeå. Området stod klart 2008 och inkluderar 709 stycken lägenheter i varierande storlek. Laststyrning som systemet minskar under perioder energitillförseln genom fjärrvärmecentralen för att på så sätt minska totala energitillförseln in till bostadshusen. Det är viktigt att inomhusklimatet inte försämras och därför utförs mätningar och beräkningar på husen samt fjärrvärmecentralerna.

The main purpose of this thesis has been to find a way to evaluate the soil parameters for the Total sounding method (TS), such as the inner friction angles and settlement modules. This study only includes an analysis of soil profiles from the Stockholm region. The chosen location for the study is a proposed residential area east of Igelstaviken in Södertälje. Presently, the subject plot is located in a residential area and is also adjacent to a school area.Total sounding is originally a Norwegian soil testing method. The differences between the sounding methods (weight-, ram-, CPT-sounding) are for instance how the sound is driven into the ground and what kind of parameters that are registered.
