In the wake of the electronic revolution digital library has become one of the central themes concerning libraries. The present study takes up the question whether digital library can function in the same way as the conventional library. The question can obviously be posed from different perspectives, e.g. technological-, the user-, or the organizational perspective. The study investigates if (and how) digital library can have the same functions as the traditional library.

Libraries exist around us and for most of us they are a part of our every day life. But how often do we stop and think about their meaning?Libraries in fiction are usually not the center of the narrative, they play a role quietly in the background and offer a backcloth to the story. Yet they are a vital part of the story. Without them a big part of the magic in the stories would be lost.And what is their role in our lives? What do the libraries mean to the books they harbor, the readers who seek them out and society in which they have their axiomatic role?This essay?s focus is my story ?Between the shelves?, which is about the young girl Julia and the mysterious passageway she discovers in her local library.

The aim of this thesis is to compare two different classification schemes with each other and see what the differences and similarities are when classifying literature concerning film and television. One of the schemes is of general kind, Klassifikationssystem för svenska bibliotek (SAB) and the other is a special system, FIAF Classification scheme for literature on film and television. The focus of the examination is on comparing the structure, contents and division of firstly the main classes and secondly on comparing the notation and the auxiliary tables in the schemes. The theoretical framework of the comparison is based upon theory of classification but the conclusions drawn are though mostly of a more subjective character. In addition to the comparison itself interviews have been made with four libraries, two with experiences of SAB and two with experiences of FIAF.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att beskriva skillnaderna mellan pälsskinn och syntetpäls. Arbetet skall även beskriva hur två textilhantverkare värderar materialen pälsskinn och syntetpäls i sina yrken.En av mina problemformuleringar är, hur värderar två utvalda textilhantverkare materialen pälsskinn och syntetpäls. Inom den praktiska funktionen, den estetiska funktionen och den etiska frågan. Jag har valt att använda mig av den kvalitativa intervjumetoden för att få mer övergripande svar. Mina intervjupersoner är Britta Johanson och Åsa Frode som båda är verksamma i Östergötland. Några av de resultat jag fått fram är att intervjupersonerna anser att pälsskinnet är mer krävande att sy i än vad syntetpälsen är..

Jag har i mitt examensarbete empiriskt studerat klassrumsklimatet sett ur två perspektiv, elevperspektivet och lärarperspektivet.Genom enkätundersökningar i en sexa, sjua och åtta har jag undersökt hur klassrumsklimatet kan gestaltas av elever. Detta är klasser som jag har undervisat i under mina tre veckor långa högstadiepraktik på grundskollärarutbildningen och jag har sammanfattat mina dagboksanteckningar om respektive klass för att få ytterligare ett perspektiv på klimatet i klassen.För att belysa klassrumsklimatet i både ett elev- och lärarperspektiv har jag läst litteratur inom området för attfördjupa mina kunskaper och för att använda som grund till den empiriska studien.Utifrån enkätundersökningen, dagboksanteckningarna och litteraturstudien ville jag ytterligare få lärares perspektiv på klassrumsklimatet. Jag har därför gestaltat ett fall som bygger på konflikter som framgår av enkätundersökningen och egna erfarenheter från min praktik i sexan, sjuan och åttan. Jag har sedan vänt mig till de tre klasslärarna till de aktuella klasserna för att få deras bild av fallet och hur man går till väga för att skapa ett gott klassrumsklimat. Jag har också försökt belysa hur lärarens ledarskap påverkar klimatet i klassen..

This master thesis is based on the sociocultural perspective. A qualitative research study was conducted to investigate children's attitudes towards reading, texts and libraries.The theoretical background is constituted by ideas from the new sociology of childhood, literacy-studies and reader-response theory.The study was conducted with 23 children, 13 girls and 10 boys, participating in focus groups.The results of the study reveal that children's literacy-activities in school are strongly influenced and limited by adults. Children's interest in pictures and non-fiction-reading do not correspond to the school institution that favors traditional media and fiction. The study also reveals a gender division between children's literacy-activities that tends to grow with age. All the children in the study regard libraries as book-houses and wished for libraries that combine activity and serenity.The thesis shows the importance of being aware of, and engage in, children's reading-interests and reading-practices if the reading stimulating activities in schools and libraries are to be successful.

Detta är min reflektion av mitt kandidatarbet 2008. Här finns beskrivet mitt arbete samt mina tankar kring det 15 veckor långa kandidatarbetet som resulterade i ett koncept för en helt ny fiktiv värld. Här förklarar jag mina orsaker till hur världen ser ut samt beskriver varför jag valde detta ämne inom denna utbildning. Förutom självaste reflektionen innehåller även dokumentet en förklaring av arbetsprocessen med hjälp av veckoreflektioner från varje arbetsvecka. Dokumentationen innehåller även källförteckning samt en ordlista.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka om fotbollssupportrar tillämpar sitt supporterskap som ett sätt att finna mening med sitt liv, samt undersöka om denna känsla av mening appliceras på deras vardag som ett nav vilket de bygger sitt liv. Mitt material bygger på intervjuer som jag genomfört med sex fotbollssupportrar, vilka stödjer olika lag i Sverige. Mitt material har analyserats främst med Peter Berger, Brigitte Berger och Hansfried Kellners The Homeless Mind där de menar att i kölvattnet av moderniseringen och sekularisering upplever människan en avsaknad av identitet och en psykologisk hemlöshet som människan försöker undvika genom att hitta nya sätt att hitta mening och syfte i livet. Fredrik Schougs Intima Samhällsvisioner och Christian Engstrands Religion och Fotboll har också varit användbara i min studie. Alla mina deltagare visar tecken på att de använder supporterskapet för att finna en gemenskap, en identitet och ett existentiellt alternativ i livet.

The purpose of this study is to examine young people?s opinions about libraries using social media for communicative and marketing purposes. There are three research questions: What do young people think about libraries using social media for communicative and marketing purposes? Do they want to interact with libraries in social media and, if so, in what way? Are their opinions and their will to interact influenced by what kind of relationship they have with libraries, their reading habits, and whether or not they use libraries? digital services? Prior research is divided into three themes: library development, marketing, and young people. The theoretical framework is made up of a combination of relationship marketing, using Evert Gummesson?s three catchwords relationships, networks, and interaction, and the engagement pyramid, as depicted by Brit Stakston.

The subject of this master thesis concerns the area of change in libraries, with special orientation towards privatisation. Its aim is to investigate how privatisation is portrayed in one of Sweden?s largest library magazines, Biblioteksbladet, in order to gain insight into why these portrayals are what they are, and what consequences they might get. Three theoretical viewpoints create the general base of the thesis; first, Fairclough?s critical discourse analysis (CDA) theory on the relations between text and society; second, Audunsson?s theory concerning how change is dealt with in public libraries; and third, a conceptual framework on privatisation consisting of definitions and perspectives of the phenomenon.

Eskilskällan är ett samarbete mellan Arkiv, Bibliotek och Museer i Eskilstuna och namnet på deras gemensamma mötesplats. Eskilskällan informerar om sin verksam­het i bland annat fyra skyltfönster på Drottninggatan i Eskilstuna. Dagens texter är långa, relativt opersonliga och innehåller mycket information. Texterna är inte heller anpassade för sin kontext.Syftet med mitt examensarbete var att hitta kärnan i Eskilskällans verksamhet och använda den i utformningen av texter som är övertygande och lockande, och som får läsaren att besöka Eskilskällans forskarrum. Målet var att texterna med sin retorik och stil, kombinerat med den grafiska utformningen, skulle tränga igenom olika typer av brus så att de uppmärksammas och fyller sitt syfte.

The aim of this Master's thesis is to examine what effect two different models of acquisition have on user satisfaction with information resources at academic libraries. The two models examined are the traditional model where a subject specialist librarian makes the selection, and the user-governed model where the larger part of the selection is based on user requests. The scope is the libraries of Roskilde University, which employs the traditional acquisition model and Malmö University, which employs the user-governed. Both libraries have a user-oriented approach to acquisition. The study encompasses a close examination of the acquisition policy through document analysis and interviews with the librarians in charge of acquisitions at each university, as well as a user-satisfaction survey among the professors and senior teachers on two faculties at each university respectively.

This master?s thesis seeks to examine how a public library use the intranet with regards to the possibilities that today?s intranet technology offer ? especially concerning functionalities that support information, communication and knowledge exchange in the organization. The purpose of the study is to investigate how employees in one specific public library perceive and use the intranet in their daily work. The theoretical framework takes its point of departure in two complementing models regarding the implementation, development and management of intranets and a model of a multi perspective view of the intranet as a shared information space for content, communication and collaboration. The study is based on interviews with eleven of the intranet users, whom with the aid of an interview guide have been asked questions regarding goals, implementation, content, design, applications and advantages/disadvantages with the intranet.
