The Effects of dietary biotin supplementation on hoof health in Swedish dairy cows - a controlled cohort field study. The aim of the present degree project was to investigate the effects of biotin supplementation on hoof health in dairy cows. The experiment was performed as a controlled cohort study in three commercial farms in western Sweden from January 2002 to October 2002. The cows were all housed in cubicle systems with transponder concentrate feeding systems. Within each farm the cows were allocated to either biotin or control treatment. The biotin groups received 20 mg of biotin per cow and day, starting 14 days before expected calving.

This is a study that aims to discern whether there are any differences between upper secondary level school textbooks published both before The Living History Forum (a government agency that works with issues on tolerance, democracy and human rights) was founded and after with regards to their depiction of Judaism in general and anti-Semitism and the Holocaust in particular. Underscoring the relevancy of this topic, in 1997 CEIFO (The Centre for Research in International Migration and Ethnic Relations) and Brå (Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention) conducted a survey among school children which revealed a lack of knowledge regarding the Holocaust (including whether it had even occurred). With this educational deficiency in mind, this study attempts to determine if there is an active development in text-book authoring regarding this subject.Using Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis (CDA) eight textbooks (four old and four new) are examined and compared in order to see if there have been changes in discourse regarding this topic over time. Fairclough's critical discourse analysis is a method used to analyse the relationship between discourse and changes in social and cultural development, and is thus employed in this case to determine if any significant changes have been made in textbooks regarding this topic.As a future teacher in religion it is important for me (and others) to be aware of this type of issue in order to be able to combat it when encountered in schools. It is also important, and part of one?s responsibility as a teacher, to actively and critically work with and review textbooks.This study has not found any major changes in the depiction of Judaism and anti-Semitism in any of the textbooks reviewed.

Milkability or ease of milking, has higher importance today for Swedish dairy cattle producers after the introduction of milking parlours and automatic milking systems. Milkability is the cow?s ability to quickly milk out and be completely milked. There are several measures of milkability available. Today the farmer measures the traits subjectively in relation to the conformation scoring of the cow 30-270 days after her first calving.

Det har kommit rapporter som säger att ejdern har minskat i antal mellan 1990-2000. Under 1996 och 1997 satt Karl-Eric Gustafsson som är en välkänd fågelskådare i Sverige på Tyludden och räknade sjöfågelsträck. Bland arter som han räknade fanns ejdern (Somateria mollissima). Han satt där varje morgon från 15: e mars till 15: e juni och arbetet utfördes som ett Arbetslivsutvecklingsprojekt. Syftet med min studie är att jämföra ejdersträcket 2006 med siffrorna från 1996 och 1997 beträffande april månad och se ifall ejdern har minskat eller ökat under de 10 år som gått.

The purpose of this study was to discuss young immigrant's experiences of the meeting between their original culture and swedish culture. In this discussion certain emphasis is laid on the formation of identity. In a more specific manner the aim was to find out which underlying circumstances contributed to the individuals choice in considering him- or herself as swedish or not and what these circumstances depended on.The empirical material of this study consists of five lifestories based on the methodological study of narrative. I have analyzed the material with help from Anthony Giddens' theory of structuration with starting point in the conception of ontological safety. I identified four different themes that frequently recured in each lifestory: identity in migration- and integrationsprocesses, the open doors of globalization, "swedish" identity and belonging in two cultures.

Studiens syfte är att ta reda på hur och varför människors förhållningssätt till musik kan förändras vid det jag valt att kalla ?kontextbyten?. Kontextbyte avser när en person flyttar från den kulturella och sociala plats personen är uppvuxen på till Sverige. Empirin bygger på fyra kvalitativa intervjuer med personer som är uppväxta i Sovjetunionen/Ukraina, Mandinka/Senegal, Japan och Jamaica och nu bosatta i Sverige. De är alla på något sätt musicerande.

In this essay I have chosen to do a cursory study of the spread of the figural gold foils. Emanating from foremost the Vendel time (550 ? 800 e Kr) in the Scandinavian countries Norway, Sweden and Denmark. I will also discuss their relationship to so called central places. Three central locations are in focus in this essay: Borg in Lofoten, Slöinge in Halland and Uppåkra in Skåne. I will also discuss when and why the religious cult changed during the Vendel period to Viking age..

This is a work about the relationship between cult houses and halls. In my essay I will go through four different places were cult houses and halls both exist. I will look at the findings and the landscapes were the settlements are located in. The places I have chosen are Lunda in Södermanland, Slöinge in Halland, Uppåkra in western Skåne and Järrestad in southeast Skåne. Because of that the cult houses and halls are occurring during the late Iron Age, it is during this time period that I will work in.

Zoo animals can be more or less disturbed by the presence of care takers as well as visitors. This may lead to stress and/or abnormal behaviour. The purpose with this study was to give a time budget of the behaviour of the captive wolves? (Canis lupus) and occurrence of behavioural disturbances and how this is affected of human visitors. For this purpose the wolves at Nordens Ark have been studied during off season as well as on season. The zoo Nordens Ark is an idealistic foundation which was founded in 1988 and is located at Åby säteri, 130 km north of Gothenburg.

The purpose of the present study is to describe adult second language learners? experiences of mathematics learning from a past and contemporary perspective. What experiences in mathematics do they bring? What does it mean to learn Mathematics through their new language?The study is based on life-world narratives from five second language students with another native language than Swedish. Today they all study at a Swedish folk high school, at upper secondary level and they have previously studied at this level in Mathematics. The result shows that the meeting with the Swedish school and folk high school context is confusing.

Denna rapport handlar om hur företaget Parera AB ska kunna integrera tre olika system till en supportportal för deras tjänst Fjärrdrift. Tjänsten Fjärrdrift går ut på att kunder erbjuds fjärrsupport och driftövervakning av deras IT-miljöer. Uppgiften gick ut på att Parera ville kunna delge information till sina kunder rörande tjänstens innehåll och status på kundernas IT-miljöer, samt göra det möjligt för kunderna att sköta sina supportärenden på en och samma plats. För att genomföra detta behövdes en undersökning av de tre systemens funktioner och API:er göras samt ett förslag på lämplig plattform för implementationen tas fram. Ett delmål i arbetet var att undersöka huruvida Parera kunde erhålla något mervärde av att migrera sitt kundhanteringssystem till molnet istället för att stå för driften själva.Arbetet gick ut på att testa de olika systemen i daglig användning och utvärdera vilken information som skulle behövas för att kunna integrera systemen, samt hur respektive systems API:er kunde nås.

Jordbruken i Sverige tenderar att bli allt större och större. Expansionen hos vissa enheter har den sista tiden varit väldigt stora. Maskinkostnaderna måste hela tiden hållas på ett minimum och många rationaliseringar görs för att uppnå detta. Detta får till följd att samma maskiner som gick på en begränsad areal används nu effektivare och utnyttjas bättre.Om man ser till växtskyddsbekämpningen finns det regler och miljöaspekter att ta hänsyn till i stor utsträckning. Dessa får inte tummas på! Frågan är var gränsen ligger fören gårds sputkapacitet för att kunna utföra bekämpningen under de rätta förhållandena.

 The aim of this study was to examine how young people, who have been treated for their misuse and/or to learn to handle a parent's misuse, portrayed the network's implication in their wishes about improving their lives, to make new choices. The network included members of nuclear family, relatives, important persons at school/work and friends. The ?professional network? (therapists and social workers) also became a part in the young people's life during a period. The main issues of this study concerned differences in their experiences of the young persons´ network relationships in before, during and after completed treatment.

Fattigdom, underutvecklat jordbruk, infrastruktur och dåliga politiska strukturer ät idag vardag inom världens fattigaste länder. Många bilder vi ser från världens fattiga länder idag speglar ofta ett sådant samhälle. Det finns flera orsaker till detta och de är ibland många och komplicerade, främst beror det på fattigdom, brist på utbildning, hälsovård för barn, torka och översvämningar löper om vartannat, inhemska politiska konflikter, brist på rent vatten samt sjukdomar som HIV/AIDS. Ländernas behov av import, export och bistånd är en viktig faktor som inte får lämnas åt sidan och detta arbete kommer att handla mycket om just det. Ett av de stora problemen som länderna har är de exportproblem med sina egna producerade livsmedel som de inte får ut på USA: s och den europeiska marknaden.Världen blir mer globaliserad och länder integreras genom handel med varor och tjänster, genom migration, finansiella flöden och genom utbyte av idéer och kunskap.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common heart disease in cats. Maine coon is one of the breeds where the disease is overrepresented. Studies have shown that HCM is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait in Maine Coon cats. This finding has led to cardiac screening using ultrasound in the breed. The results of the screening are used in a national breeding program constructed to reduce the spread and incidence of HCM in Maine Coon cats.
