"The Value of Knowledge - Towards a Virtue Epistemological Position" The classical question, first posed in Plato's Meno, concerning the value of knowledge constitutes the starting point of this essay. Value analysis has long been neglected in epistemologist's accounts until its re-emergence with the tradition called ?virtue epistemology?, in particular with scholars following Ernest Sosa. Like virtue ethics virtue epistemological accounts changes the focus from the object to the agent, i.e. from knowledge to intellectual virtue.

The cost of transportation has strongly increased in the recent years, transportations which are a major part for the construction companies. Skanska Asphalt which is a part of Skanska Sverige AB has noticed that there are significant cost savings to be made with the purchasing of transports. The transports in this case is about asphalt, where the costs are about 10% of the outsourcing business turnover. The purpose of this thesis is to study the working practice that Skanska Asphalt are using today in controlling and time-writing, for the asphalt transportations. Resulting in recommendations on how to improve the working practice at Skanska Asphalt.This study was conducted with the help of a number of interviews with Skanska?s employees and with suppliers of transportation to describe the practices which are being used in during the asphalt transportation.

The purpose of this study is to use a qualitative approach to get an understanding of what is expected of social workers targeted towards women managers in social services. Nine social workers were interviewed. The empirical data was then analyzed on the basis of gender theory. Respondents did not see their supervisor as a manager but more as a social worker with special tasks. Our empirical data indicates that there is a strong belief that men and women possess different properties.

Syftet med vår studie är att undersöka hur implementering av förskolans reviderade läroplan går till samt analysera likheter och skillnader i tolkningen av förskolans kvalitet utifrån ledningsansvarigas, politikers och pedagogikvetarnas perspektiv samt granska på vilket sätt respondenternas utsagor avspeglar deras position i skolsystemets hierarki. För att kunna besvara våra frågeställningar valde vi använda oss av kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer. Vår empiri grundar sig på införskaffade intervjusvar ifrån nio offentliga personer med olika roller och positioner inom skolsystemet. Resultatet av vår undersökning visar att implementering av förskolans reviderade läroplan är ett exempel på ett top-down perspektiv. Utifrån insamlat empirin konstaterar vi att respondenternas uppfattning om vad som är förskolans kvalitet skiljer sig beroende på deras roll och position inom skolväsendet. Dessutom kom vi fram till att två diskursiva mönster framträdde i ledningsansvarigas, politikers och pedagogikvetarnas uttalanden som vi i studien benämnde för organisatoriskt- och pedagogiskt perspektiv..

The objective of this study was trying to understand bullying focusing on the bully. The questions at issue were: What can contribute in the making of a bully? What are the benefits and losses in bullying? What are the former bullies? thoughts on bullying, now in comparison to in their youth. This was investigated with a qualitative approach from a former bullys perspective, hence three former bullies were interviewed. The result was presented in themes and was then analysed from a social psychological and social constructionist perspective.

Dagens samhälle präglas av en vilja att göra karriär. Att göra karriär innebär för många att bli chef eller att på något sätt nå en ledande position där man har makten att bestämma över andra. Det finns en uppsjö av litteratur kring hur man är en bra chef, hur man utvecklar ledaregenskaper samt hur man gör karriär. Det saknas dock forskning som fokuserar på hur man blir en ledare. Alltså vilka faktorer och egenskaper som är viktiga eller avgörande för att man ska nå sin målsättning att bli just chef.Syftet med denna uppsats är att belysa de faktorer som banar väg till en ledande position inom ett företag eller en organisation.

Abstract: In this study, I have searched for answers to whether teachers use pictures in their teaching with the purpose of making education easier. Can we use the pictures with a pedagogic purpose? In this study, I have interviewed middle-school teachers concerning this subject.My results show that teachers actually use pictures in order to make the education easier for pupils but they do not do it very often. They think that they do not have the time to look for the good pictures that go with their subject and that they can show in the classroom. They also think that the pictures in the textbooks are good enough and they do not discuss the pictures very much.

I en stadsmiljö som innehåller stora mängder geografisk information på en begränsad yta finns det flera faktorer som ställer till problem vid kartläggning och positionering. Målet med detta arbete var att skapa en dynamisk stadskarta för webben med visualisering av byggnader i flera plan, att skapa ett användarvänligt gränssnitt med möjlighet till relevanta dataurval samt att undersöka vilka metoder som är användbara för positionering där en GPS-mottagare inte har täckning. Den metod som främst var av intresse att undersöka är en teknik benämnd WiFi Positionering, vilken med hjälp av trådlösa accesspunkter beräknar användarens position.Ett system för datalagring och tillhandahållande av data via ett webbaserat användargränssnitt dimensionerades och implementerades. De programvaror som användes till detta var PostGIS (databashanterare), GeoServer (kartserver) och OpenLayers (kartapplikation). Systemet installerades i en testmiljö som tillhandahölls av Compare Testlab.Användargränssnittet är ett webbaserat program vilket utvecklades med en teknik som stöds av webbläsare i smartphones samt till datorers dito.

The aim of this work was to investigate how it is to move in hierarchy from crew toofficer within the seafaring profession and how to be affected by this. How you areperceived by the crew when going from to represent a part of a system to represent adifferent part of the same system and if you are ready to assume the responsibilities of thenew role entails?This is relevant and interesting as we will soon is facing at this transition. The work isbased on a qualitative approach. How are they apprehended by customers of the company? What are Prime Cares own thoughts behind the channels? How does Prime Cares self-image correspond to the way that customers apprehend the company?Material/Method: Twenty interviews has been done with different customers of Prime Care in order to see how the company and its communication flow is apprehended. A consultant manager of Prime Care has also been asked about purposes behind the companies external communication channels in order to enable a comparison between Prime Cares image and profile. Prime Cares website, one of their mail sendouts, their salescalls, salesvisits and their exhibition participation have been studied on the basis of relevant litterature. Maletzkes model of mass communication was used as a general view of communication flow.Main results: All communication channels included in this study have different ways of function even though they all have the same main purpose, videlicet to promote the company, to inform about its activities and to recruit new customers and consultants.

En generell uppfattning om mellanchefspositionen är att den är svår att hantera i och med de krav som ställs både från överordnade chefer och underordnade medarbetare. Vårt syfte med uppsatsen har därför varit att öka kunskap och förståelse för den situation en chef i mellanposition befinner sig i. Vi har valt att intervjua mellanchefer inom kommunal sektor för att ta del av hur de upplever sin roll, position och uppgift, relationer till medarbetare samt vilka situationer som upplevs som svåra och problematiska.Vi ville ta del av mellanchefers subjektiva upplevelser och valde därför en kvalitativ metod i form av en intervjuundersökning. Resultatet visade att många av deras upplevelser var likartade men vissa mindre skillnader kunde vi på visa. Mellancheferna upplevde att de har en bekväm position, men att det ibland kan uppstå situationer då motstridiga förväntningar ställs från överordnade chefer och underställda chefer eller underställda medarbetare..
