Tidigare undersökningar visar att nästan nio av tio gymnasieskolor använder sig av produkter från en dominerande aktör, nämligen Microsoft. Syftet med vår studie var att undersöka varför svenska gymnasieskolan inte använder sig av alternativ såsom öppen källkod och fri programvara i större utsträckning. Vi valde att avgränsa oss till att studera till den vanligast förekommande programvaran, såsom operativsystem, kontorsprogram och webbläsare. Vidare valde vi att lägga fokus på de datorer som står till elevernas förfogande. Vi genomförde en kvalitativ undersökning, baserad på intervjuer med respondenter som representerar 10 kommuner i Skåne län.

The most common method for identifying merchandise in the commerce is by barcodes. Symbian OS is an advanced operating system aimed at cell phones and the most commonly used in smart phones. Opportunities to a full range of new services are given through barcode recognition in a Symbian OS based device. Therefore the purpose of this degree project was to create an application which would contribute to a future solution aimed at shopping where the cell phone constitutes a reader of items? identification numbers.

Eutrophication was recognized in the early 1900's and results in severe algal blooms, increased biomass production and eventually leads to an altered ecosystem. In Mälardalen we find the most eutrophic lakes. Most of the applied phosphorus and nitrogen into seas and oceans comes from agriculture, and the nutrients losses are affected by local weather conditions and soil type. Guidelines for storage and distribution of manure were introduced in the 80s, and the rules were strengthened January 1, 2010. Localities and previous county administrations can whether there are special reasons, grant an exemption for manure application during winter-periods despite the current ban.In this essay I have examined how many exemptions of manure application that has been granted at the Sagån river, and what implications it has for the eutrophication of Lake Mälaren.

Den här rapporten beskriver en experimentell studie av Microsoft Network Protection (NAP) och är ämnad för att utvärdera hur mogen tekniken är för att implementeras i en aktiv nätverksmiljö. För att göra studien tog vi hjälp av gymnasieskolan John Bauer i Kalmar. Tester har utförts med DHCP-framtvingning och 802. 1x-framtvingning, dessa är två av NAPs fyra olika framtvingande funktioner. En mindre analys av skolans switchkonfigurationer och interna säkerhet har även gjorts på John Bauers begäran.

Beräkningskluster används exempelvis till vädersimuleringar eller produktsimulering. Microsoft HPC-kluster tillhandahåller två olika typer av beräkningsnoder var av den ena är Computenod, som körs med operativsystemet Windows Server 2008 R2, och den andra är Workstationnod, som körs med operativsystemet Windows 7.Arbetets syfte är att jämföra operativsystemen Windows 7 och Windows Server 2008 R2 för att se om de presterar likartat som en beräkningsnod. Detta avgörs med avseende på energieffektivitet samt hur de presterar i Linpack. Linpack är ett prestandaverktyg som mäter ett beräkningsklusters beräkningsförmåga i flyttalsoperationer per sekund. Studien utförs genom en experimentell metod.

Sveriges Radio stores their data in large archives which makes it hard to retrieve specific information. The sheer size of the archives makes retrieving information about a specific event difficult and causes a big problem. To solve this problem a more consistent use of metadata is needed. This resulted in an investigation about metadata and keyword genera-tion.The appointed task was to automatically generate keywords from transcribed radio shows. This included an investigation of which systems and algorithms that can be used to generate keywords, based on previous works.

Lining techniques such as nap bonding and mist lining were developed in the late 20th century and have gained popularity alongside with the increased use of acrylic emulsions as adhesives. The ability of the adhesive to create a nap bond to the canvases without penetrating the fibers has shown advantages regarding reversibility. In addition, the use of moisture, heat and pressure is reduced, which can be advantageous for more sensitive paintings. These lining techniques have been included in several studies where reversibility, minimal intervention and respect for the individual requirements and problems of each object have been the focus. The adaptability of the methods has been confirmed and to further explore the adaptability, this study consists of three simpler application techniques with the adhesive Lascaux 303 HV on mockups.

A variety of studies have been conducted on the use of the balanced scorecard in the public sector. Fewer studies, however, is made at a lower, more local level within municipal departments. The aim is to describe the scorecard application by two different departments, while scorecard adjustment over time and actors and their rules are addressed in this context. This has led us to the following problem: How can scorecard application be described in two different departments in a municipal context? In the theoretical framework we presented fundamental theories of balanced scorecard in different contexts, a scorecards translation process and the rules that guide and limit the actors in the organization.

This paper describes how files and information can be shared in organisations and workplaces. We studied and compared the traditional file sharing in Microsoft Active Directory and the Social file sharing that comes with Microsoft SharePoint Sites. We used qualitative studies based on interviews with system administrators, management and by our own observations to acquire the necessary data. Using independent research, we were able to analyze the data and show the general difference between the traditional and the social file sharing systems. Social file sharing enables the user to easily store and share files in a flexible online environment.

During the fall of 2007 Uppsala University gave the course ?Projekt DV?. As a result of this class a publishing tool for real-time media came to be ShiShi TV. The purpose of this application was to introduce a new way to reach out to people. This was done with a video player on the Internet and a second one placed in a regular mobile phone.

Denna rapport syftar till att utforska och visa på möjligheten till ansiktsigenkänning vilket görs lättillgängligt för allmänheten genom Microsoft Kinect for XBOX360 och eventuella framtida liknande lösningar med lågupplösta 3D-sensorer. Det finns många komplicerande faktorer inom ansiktsigenkänning och däribland ansiktsrotation. Beroendet på ansiktets horisontella vinklar i förhållande till Kinectenheten undersöks för 5 testsubjekt genom användandet av en 3D-baserad matchningsalgoritm.Detta sker med en metod baserad på Microsoft Kinect Face Tracking SDK och de ansiktsmodeller i 3D denna levererar. Undersökningens resultat är i linje med ansiktsigenkänningens problematik. Ett bättre resultat fås för sant positiva matchningar mellan frontala subjekt jämfört med horisontellt roterade ansikten.

Android is one of the leading software platforms for the new generation of smartphones. The market for applications is growing rapidly. So to be able to compete with such large competition the applications need a solid and stable development methodology. Therefore have we created an application based on a test-driven development, to investigate if the methodology was applicable on the Android platform. The conclusion is that Android?s suitability for test-driven development is dependent on the application that is being developed and if difficulties concerning the testing framework can be avoided.

Outsourcing är en företeelse som, trots att den egentligen är relativt gammal, fått sitt genombrott under 1990-talet. En Application Service Provider (ASP) är en ny typ av företag som bygger vidare på konceptet för outsourcing. Genom att anlita en ASP kan ett företag/organisation få tillgång till applikationer utan att behöva köpa licenser eller hårdvara.Det finns flera anledningar till att ett företag/organisation väljer att använda sig av ASP. Genom att intervjua företag/organisationer som använder ASP har en undersökning gjorts om vilka anledningar, så kallade faktorer, som varit avgörande då beslutet att anlita en ASP togs. Utgångspunkten för undersökningen har varit anledningar som ASP-marknaden och dess analytiker menar är orsaker till att ASP väljs.

Denna rapport syftar till att besvara frågan om det är nödvändigt att göra omfördelningar av befintliga IT-resurser för att erhålla största möjliga nytta med application service provider-modellen (ASP-modellen). Rapporten besvarar även frågan om hur IT-avdelningens fokus hos en ASP-kund påverkats av det nya arbetssättet. De svar som presenteras i rapporten visar på att en omfördelning av IT-resurserna kan vara en bidragande orsak till att införandet av ASP anses lyckat. Vidare påvisar rapporten att efter att ASP införts försvinner vanligtvis en del av de tekniska arbetsuppgifterna och undersökningen som gjorts pekar mot att IT-avdelningen får ansvar för att ta fram krav för vidare samarbete med ASPn. Ansvaret yttrar sig genom att någon på företaget får ansvaret för att kontrollera om leverantören håller de servicenivåer som kontraktet fastställer.

This thesis is a part of the DySCAS (Dynamically Self-Configuring Automotive System)project which has the overall purpose of creating a middleware for the electronics in an automotive environment. The thesis has been made with collaboration with ENEA AB who is a member of the DySCAS project. ENEA AB has developed a demonstration platform to test the fundamental ideas which the DySCAS project is built on.The purpose of this thesis was to design and implement a GPS application to be added to the demonstration platform. This was done by adding a GPS receiver to the original DySCAS demonstration platform and designing and implementing an application to be able to extract the information from it. The resulting application is able to present cur- rent position and absolute time to the DySCAS networks as services to be used by other applications or by the network it self.
