My thesis is a study of how the perception of booktalk aimed at kids and youngsters in the Swedish educational system has changed between 1932 and 2007. A discursive reading of articles in the magazine Biblioteksbladet provides the basis for my investigation. The thesis argues that an older "authoritaritan" and "traditional" discourse has given way for a more modern, "anti-authoritaritan" and "lust"-directed discourse. The older discourse was designed to make sure that young people were provided with a certain well-defined quantity of "approved" literature. The new discourse stresses the importance of fostering kids and youngsters with a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards reading in general.

The purpose of this essay is to illustrate how the position of power / exercise of power are perceived in today's schools from the teacher's perspective. I have examined how students' freedom and democracy education interpreted in real life, and how this affects both teacher and student learning approaches. I would also highlight the need to set standards for children's psychological development related to the consequences will be. I have chosen to perform a qualitative research through individual interviews with five participating teachers from different experiences in different type of school. I have used the hermeneutic method of analysis to analyze the material.

The aim of this work is to define the party structure of Feministic Initiative (FI). We want to examine the structure of an organization that doesn?t start out with a hierarchical order. We further intend to examine the party?s leadership; whether or not it is equal, between the three spokespersons.We find it interesting as a topic from a democratic point of view as well as to see if a flat structure could work in practice.

This masters thesis aims to explore the branch libraries in Kalmar municipality and their relation to the Information and communication technology ICTsociety. How do they adapt to and assimilate with, the ICT-society? What are their roles in local social networks and do they make a difference there? To answer these questions, critical discourse analysis, CDA, as founded by Norman Fairclough is applied to four interwievs with branch library managers. Other theorists used are Michel Foucault, Chaïm Perelman and Ludwig Wittgenstein. A solid description of todays society on different levels is also given.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att belysa och analysera hur nationella prov för åk 3 framställs och legitimeras i den offentliga debatten samt i en skolkontext. Jag vill vidare problematisera hur kunskap produceras och makt utövas på en mer generell nivå i skolan. Materialet till denna studie består av skriftliga källor så som forskningsrapporter och tidningsartiklar, kvalitativa intervjuer med lärare samt en observation och ett samtal med elever i åk 3. Materialet granskas med hjälp av genealogi och Michel Foucaults teorier kring makt, disciplinering och normalitet. I den offentliga debatten finns ett gemensamt förgivet tagande att proven på olika sätt kan förbättra skolan.

Denna uppsats jämför och analyserar de båda sexualupplysningsfilmerna "Ur kärlekens språk" (Torgny Wickman, 1969) och "Kärlekens språk 2000" (Anders Lennberg 2004). Uppsatsens syfte är att utreda vilka olika sätt som de båda filmerna tilltalar sin publik på och vad dessa respektive tilltal får för konsekvenser för den syn på sexualitet som man vill förmedla. Därtill försöker uppsatsen svara på huruvida skillnaderna mellan filmerna säger någonting om hur synen på sexualitet har förändrats från slutet av sextiotalet till idag. Uppsatsen utgår teoretiskt från dels Bill Nichols dokumentärfilmsteori och dels från Michel Foucaults teorier kring sexualitetens olika diskurser..

Detta är en studie vars syfte är att undersöka vilka attityder ett urval aerobicstränande kvinnor har till sin egen träning samt att utforska vilken femininitet de konstruerar genom och i sin träning. Studien har sin grund i sex kvalitativa intervjuer med frekvent aerobicstränande kvinnor. De teoretiska utgångspunkterna har utgått ifrån de starkast lysande teman som framgått i kvinnornas berättelser, vilka är femininitet, normalitet och disciplinering. Teoretiker som används är Judith Butler, Michel Foucault och Beverly Skeggs. Studiens analys visar att det finns en överbyggande disciplineringsgrund när det kommer till syn på kropp och träning.

Questions about discipline have always been current within the Swedish school system, from the sixteenth century until today. The purpose of this study is to compare the discipline in two old-time elementary schools, located on Gotland, with each other.This study will compare an old-time elementary school from the countryside with an old-time elementary school from a town to show the differences in discipline between the coun-tryside and a town. This study will also focus on how questions about discipline changes from 1847 to 1937/1941. In order to do so I have studied the regulations from the two schools and compared them with each other. When I discuss discipline I will use Michel Foucault?s theory concerning the development of power and discipline in modern society.My study shows that it did not differ much in questions of discipline between the two ex-amined old-time elementary schools.

It is a phenomenon that where brought to life officially in the 1930?s by an author called Aksel Sandemose. We want to know if Jantelagen still exist in the society or if it has faded to the degree that it is no longer in use.

I detta examensarbete diskuteras ljudets funktion kopplade till korta händelser i spelet Europa Universalis III: Divine Wind (2011). Arbetet undersöker vad spelaren upplever när det uppkommer fler ljud än vad som är synligt i grafiken. Tidigare forskare vars arbete har använts är bland annat Mats Liljedahl, Nigel Papworth och Stefan Lindberg (2007) som forskat i hur spelare kan navigera efter ljud. Michel Chions (1994) forskning är också relevant då han beskriver hur ljud fungerar utanför bilden i film. Examensarbetet tar upp frågan om vad den inre bilden kan förmedla i en spelhändelse och hur spelaren tolkar situationen.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate whether or not capitalism, viewed here as the system that is currently the dominant economic system in the Western world, can be seen as a modern myth or not. An author, Brian Tracy, of several popular self-help books is the target of this investigation and the language he uses in his books have been scrutinized in order to see whether or not he uses a religiously influenced, and more importantly, myth-creating language. In order to do so, Bruce Lincolns theories of myth have been used in correlation with Stefan Arvidssons definition ov myths. Also of interest is whether or not Tracy in his books uses any of the instruments of power defined by Michel Foucault to support his claims.The investigation shows that capitalism indeed can be seen as a modern myth. This claim is supported by the facts that Tracy not only uses a language heavily influenced by Christian texts and belief but furthermore because he descirbes himself and the people he claims to have helped in a way that strongly resembles the narratives of myths.

This essay aims to show how Clarice Lispector uses a double narrative to wright beyond the rules of representation that are given for all literature. All writing is determined by the social hierarchies that exist in a society, and thus the essay shows how Lispector uses a specific literary strategy in order to give voice to a character that would otherwise be invisible. Using the philosophy of Michel Foucault and Gilles Deleuze as a means of contextualization, the essay further discusses the social and political impact of Lispectors novel.Through a thematic close reading of the novel The Hour of the Star the essay aims to deepen the understanding of the unique characterization in the novel and its implications. The first chapter is devoted to an analysis of the first person narrative in the novel and its development into a extra diegetic narrative. The second chapter aims to go further into the narrative with an analysis of the dichotomy between body and thought and its interplay with the two main characters in the novel.
