The aging population is a challenge for Europe and there must be cooperation between EU member states to join the challenge to meet. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the EU's ability to influence older people's health, based on experiences from a selection of European officials and on a review of the EU's common strategies. The authors studied and problematize the implementation of the strategies that the EU has negotiated for the work against the elderly poor health, with a view of member countries have different conditions. Using qualitative methods, we have collected and processed statements from targeted interviews and publications by a range of European policies. The material was then analyzed from implementation theory and organizational theory, and based on results of previous research. The result shows that the EU is developing common strategies and coordination methods to the aforementioned challenge to meet. The results also show that the differences existing between Member States causes implementation difficulties of the common strategies. The study states ultimately decide that there should be common strategies to facilitate the work of Member States when it comes to countering the elderly poor health.

Bakgrund: Den palliativa hemsjukvården av cancerpatienter har ökat och fortsätter att öka. För att palliativ hemsjukvård ska fungera krävs ofta att anhöriga tar ett stort ansvar i vården. Ser inte vårdpersonalen deras problem så finns det risk att för stor börda läggs på de anhöriga. Syfte: Studiens syfte var att belysa anhörigas upplevelser av att ha en anhörig med cancer som vårdas palliativt i hemmet. Metod: En litteraturstudie av åtta vetenskapligt granskade artiklar gjordes.

A tendency of impaired oral health has lately been seen among children and adolescents. The consumption of soft drinks and fruit juices is rising and at the same time many children and adolescents skip breakfast and lunch at school. That in combination with a frequent snacking increases the risk of caries. The aim of this study was to examine the knowledge of caries, oral hygiene- and dietary habits and experience of tobacco among 12-year-old schoolchildren. The study was performed in 5th grade in four different schools in the North East of Skåne in cooperation with the dental health board clinic in Näsby, Kristianstad.

Home care services have had, and will have a major imortance in the future. More people will be using home care services as a consequence of political strategies but also as an effect of caretakers own wishes. The purpose of this study was to illuminate the factors that are significant for a successful encounter between a caretaker and a caregiver. The study is made as a qualitative analysis of litterature. The data collection was based on Polit and Hungler's model of information retrieval and the data analysis on Graneheim and Lundman's model of analysis.

One must consider cost effectiveness when deciding how resources within the health sector should be distributed. Quality adjusted life years (QALYs) are used to measure the value of different medical treatments. QALY is based on utility maximization theory, which suggests that a QALY is always a QALY regardless of who receives it. Therefore, a produced QALY is worth the same regardless of the age or the initial health of the patient. Previous research has shown that these assumptions do not seem to fit the real preferences of individuals.

AbstractThere is a general perception that women are victims and men are the perpetrators of sexual offense. Female perpetrators of sexual crimes have been neglected in the research literature, because female sex offenders do not live up to preconceptions of female as motherly and caring. Females tend to be responsible for a very small portion of all crimes and are estimated to account for 1-2% of all sexual offenses. Theories use to discuss female sex offending include neutralization of behavior, mental health and feminist theory. The aim of the present study was to describe female sex offenders and examine the relationship between the perpetrator and the victim by analyzing court judgments.

The breakdown of the ratification process of the EU constitution was in Sweden blamed on a lack of a debate concerning European issues. The constitution can be seen as the best and latest, but in no way the only, example of this problem. The breakdown can also been seen as proof of a larger legitimacy crises within the EU. The aim of the study is to determine whether or not there really was of lack of debate concerning the constitution in Sweden. This question is theoretic¬ally connected to EU legitimacy through Habermas idea of a public sphere.

Immigration is today happening in Sweden to a great extent and this requires a higher level of demands within the transcultural nursing. With this fact as a base to our literature review the aim of the study was developed. This was to investigate how immigrants with diabetes mellitus type 2 experience health and to find out the importance of knowledge related to the patients compliance of given advise and prescriptions. On the basis of the aim the following questions of issue was formulated: How do immigrants with diabetes mellitus type 2 experience their health and what knowledge do they possess concerning their illness? and Within which areas of the immigrants life is it important for the nurse to gain knowledge in order to affect and oblige him or her? A critical review of nine scientific articles emerged in three themes that answer the questions of issue.

AbstractThe organization of the health care system in Sweden has been subjected to investigations and discussions in order to make it more effective. The aim is to create a better public health care and to economize on the financial resources. In the year of 2003 an amendment of the Swedish law made it easier for municipalities and county councils to make own solutions and agree about how health service should be organized in the best way. This resulted in a number of test projects. In this paper I will focus on one of these test projects which took place in Borlänge and was based on collaboration between the municipality and the county council in Dalecarlia.

This study aimed to describe children?s experience of living with overweight or obesity, by using a literature-review. The study includes eleven articles, data is from children between ages 5-15 year. The result occurring were in the areas; Quality of life and self-esteem, Social company, Body concept and weight reduction and Psychological unhealth. BMI above what is recommended gives a negative influence on quality of live and self-esteem.

Bakgrund: Patienter som långvarigt behandlas med kvarliggande urinkateter får ofta problem med flödeshinder. En åtgärd som företas vid flödeshinder är spolning av urinkatetern, alternativet är att byta katetern. Otillräckligt vetenskapligt underlag för spolning gör att evidens saknas i frågan. Individuell katetervård rekommenderas. För närvarande saknas till stor del forskning om patienters upplevelse av kateterbehandling.

The aim of this study was to examine nursing personnel?s knowledge about oral health care and attitudes towards the free assessment of the oral status done by the dental service for elderly and handicapped persons in a municipality in the south part of Skåne, and also how personnel experience the free assessment of the oral status done by the dental service and how it functioned at the facilities. The study was carried out by sending out 150 questionnaires to nursing personnel at six special housing facilities. 73% (110 personnel?s) answered the questionnaires.

Bakgrund: Det är känt att erektil dysfunktion, eller impotens, orsakas av förstorad prostata, depression och diabetes. Den typ av erektil dysfunktion som orsakas av diabetes har en mer komplicerad utveckling än övriga orsaker.Syfte: Syftet med denna litteraturöversikt var att belysa sexuellt aktiva mäns erfarenheter av erektil dysfunktion till följd av diabetes mellitus typ 2.Metod: Metoden som valdes var en litteraturöversikt med kvalitativa och kvantitativa artiklar. Datamaterialet bestod av tio kvantitativa och två kvalitativa artiklar.Resultat: Två kategorier identifierades såsom Livet påverkas samt Förståelse för situationen med underkategorier.Konklusion: Det råder kunskapsbrist i fråga om varför män drabbas av erektil dysfunktion. Många män anser inte att det finns någon fungerande behandling. Om kontroll av den erektila funktionen ingick i årskontrollen av diabetes tillsammans med en välgrundad information samt adekvat behandling skulle de drabbade männen och deras partner få bättre insikt och medvetande om problemet.

Hysterektomi är idag en av de vanligaste operationerna som utförs på kvinnor, näst efter sectio både i Sverige som utomlands. Detta gör att kvinnors psykiska hälsa post hysterektomi är något som sjukvården bör ha kunskap om. Att genomföra en hysterektomi innebär att avlägsna uterus och de vanligaste anledningarna till att en hysterektomi genomförs är menorragi och kronisk smärta i pelvis.I huvudsak genomgår kvinnor en hysterektomi för att förbättra sin livskvalitet, det finns även andra anledningar till att genomföra en hysterektomi som cancer i uterus. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att undersöka om kvinnors upplevda psykiska hälsa förändras post hysterektomi. Studien är genomförd som en litteraturstudie där 13 vetenskapliga artiklar granskades.Resultatet visade att den upplevda livskvaliteten och hälsan ökade postoperativt.

Background: One in three breastfeeding women sustain a chest complication. Many mothers feel that breastfeeding counselors have been the key to initiate and maintain the breastfeeding.Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate mothers? experiences of breastfeeding problems and the advice given from a breastfeeding clinic in a large Swedish city.Method: A qualitative interview study with an inductive approach was made. Ten mothers were interviewed through a semi-structured interview guide. Data were analyzed by using content analysis.Results: Three categories and six sub-categories of mothers' perceptions of breastfeeding pro- blems and the advice they got from the breastfeeding clinic were identified.
