Purpose The purpose of this study is to evaluate the treatment results and adverse drug effects for 14 dogs receiving a new paclitaxel preparat named Paccal vet. The evaluated dogs are chosen to enter a pharmacogenomical study. Therefore, this paper intends to give an introduction to pharmacogenomics. Finally this study also aims at finding the homologue genesequenses in dogs to seven genes that are important for metabolism of paclitaxel in humans. Materials and metods The dogs went through 2-4 cycles of paclitaxel treatment, they received a new water-soluble formula named Paccal vet, at dosages of 100-150mg/m2. Treatment results and adverse effects are listed for each dog in table 1.

The purpose of this retrospective study was to investigate the prescription of antibiotics to dogs at the small animal clinic at Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire, Nantes, France. The purpose was also to compare the possible prescription patterns in France with those seen in a similar study by Petersson (2003) at the small animal clinic at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala. Antibiotics are very important in veterinary Medicine and are used both to treat infections and to prevent them. The use of antibiotics however is not without complications and the risk of developing antimicrobial resistance is of most concern. Resistance has been shown to exist against all currently known antibiotics and potentially all pathogenic bacteria could develop resistance to one or more antibiotics. This study analysed the case records for all dogs presented to the small animal clinic at Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire, Nantes, France during October 2001 and March 2002 to identify patients which were treated with systemic antibiotics. For these cases the antibiotic used, classified according to the ATCvet system, and the indication for use was noted. A total of 292 cases (146 per month) resulted in administration of systemic antibiotics.

Syftet med denna litteraturstudie är att ge en överblick i hur epiduralanestesi utförs och vilka risker och fördelar som tekniken medför. Epiduralanestesi är en typ av lokalanestesi och central nervblockad. Anestesimedlet injiceras extraduralt, det vill säga i epiduralrummet utanför den hårda hjärnhinnan (dura mater) vilken omger ryggmärgen. Användning av lokalanestetika vid ryggmärgens slut resulterar i förlust av viljestyrda rörelser och i upphörd känsel i områden innerverade av de påverkade känsel- och motorneuronen. Epidural administration av morfin ger långvarig (6-24h), effektiv analgesi som ej associeras med känsel-, sympatisk- eller motorblockad. Epiduralanestesi används framförallt för tre typer av patienter och situationer: Häst och ko (vid vaginal prolaps och kejsarsnitt), känsliga smådjur (nedsatta patienter som riskerar att inte överleva generell anestesin och vid kejsarsnitt) och postoperativ smärtlindring (patienter i behov av långvarig smärtlindring efter kirurgiska ingrepp i bakben, bäcken och kaudala delar av buken). Inom smådjurspraktiken läggs epiduralanestesi oftast i foramen lumbosacale (mellan L7 och S1) Området lokaliseras genom att fram höftbenskammarnas (crista iliaca) högsta punkt.

Eftersom anestesi påverkar homeostasen är det alltid förenat med risker. Mätning av anestesidjup, en term som kan delas upp i hypnosgrad och analgesigrad, har diskuterats sedan anestesins födelse. Trots det saknas fortfarande en objektiv mätmetod för detta och de parametrar som används idag tycks inte reflektera inte graden av medvetande direkt. Bispectral Index (BIS) är en mätmetod baserad på en algoritm framtagen genom att studera elektroencefalogram (EEG) hos hundratals människor i vaket tillstånd och under anestesi. Metoden omvandlar EEG-aktivitet i hjärnan till en siffra som speglar hypnosdjupet mellan 0-100, där 100 representerar en helt vaken patient och 0 EEG-tystnad. BIS-värden mellan 40-60 indikerar på människa ett kirurgiskt anestesidjup.

Bakgrund: Specialistsjuksköterskan ska uppta patientberättelsen och utifrån sinspecialiserade kunskap om medicinska eller psykiatriska tillstånd göra en korrekt bedömning.Sjuksköterskan ska från sin bedömning sedan förse patienterna med adekvata vårdåtgärder. IGöteborg har andelen ambulansuppdrag som klassificeras som psykiatrisk sjukdom ökat desista åren. Med anledning av det planerar ambulanssjukvården i Göteborg en speciellpsykiatriambulans med dubbelkompetens, en sjuksköterska som har specialistkunskap inompsykiatri samt en ambulanssjuksköterska. I Stockholm skall en psykiatriambulans införas 1april 2015 men inte med dubbelkompetens. Anledningarna till planen att introducera enpsykiatriambulans är att utveckla den akuta prehospitala vården bland annat genom att hjälpapatienter med psykiatrisk problematik till rätt vårdnivå.
