Background: The majority of patients requiring medical attention experience some degree of pain. The nurses´ assessment of pain is crucial in reducing the patients suffering in a proper and timely manner. Previous studies have shown that the treatment of pain in a emergency situation is poorly managed. The patients´ pain experience is often under assessed and undertreated which leads to increased suffering for the patient. This results in higher costs for the health care system due to prolonged hospitalization.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka hur sjuksköterskor skildrar och kommunicerar med psykospatienter och vilket lärande de upplever i dessa möten inom slutenvården. Metoden var halvstrukturerade intervjuer som transkriberats och sedan analyserats med hjälp av van Manens fenomenologiska och hermeneutiska metod och hans livsvärldsexistentialer; relationen, rummet, tiden och kroppen. Sjuksköterskorna beskrev patienter med skilda egenskaper som från att vara starkt fysiskt påverkade och ha kramper till att vara vältränade och se bra ut men också från att vara skrämmande till att vara trevliga. Patienter kunde ha press från anhöriga, ha mycket resurser och de kunde förbättras snabbt men också snart återkomma för inläggning. Strategier vid kommunikation beskrevs som: Ett fokus på här, nu och framåt; ett balanserat, känsligt och kärleksfullt bemötande som förmedlar ett budskap av hopp, delaktighet och realistisk framtidstro.

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that manifests as an increased level of glucose in the blood. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 347 million people have diabetes worldwide. In year 2004, 3.4 million people died from the consequences of high blood glucose. In the Swedish population the prevalence of diabetes is estimated to 3-4 %, out of which 85-90% are Type 2. Among senior citizens a prevalence of diabetes is seen in Sweden up to 14 - 15%.

Bakgrund och problem: Varje år investeras det stora summor i den forskningsbaserade läkemedelsindustrin. Investeringarna innebär stora risker då det är få läkemedel som genererar tillräckligt stora vinster för att täcka kostnaderna. Sedan år 2005 har svenska koncerner tillämpat IFRS, vilket har medfört större krav på redovisningen av FoU. Valet att aktivera eller kostnadsföra utgifterna för FoU har debatterats mycket och valet påverkar företagets finansiella ställning. Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen är att utreda hur redovisningen av FoU och patent ser ut hos läkemedelsföretag i Sverige som använder sig av IAS 38 och hur redovisningsvalen har påverkats av införandet av IFRS.

AbstractPurpose/Aim: This essay deals with The Swedish Red Cross Society and their work concerning strategical information and communication about HIV and AIDS in the Swedish context. In a broader sense the relation between the global and the local will be investigated and a discussion about what it means to work in an organization operating on a global arena will be held.Material/Method: This essay is based on relevant theories about culture and health communication which I have studied, selected and put together, with purpose to analyse The Swedish Red Cross Society and their informational work with HIV and AIDS- prevention. Furthermore I have interviewed four of the organizations co- workers to collect data about their experiences in working in the Red Cross organization with this specific mission. Moreover I and my colleague Hillevi Good attended at seminars and lectures to observe activities held by the organization and to get inside information about what people working with HIV and AIDS are discussing and considering as critical issues. The study holds a qualitative approach focusing on understanding this typical case rather then generalizing facts in a larger sense.Main results: The Swedish National Society of The Red Cross has a difficult mission in their work to inform the public about HIV and AIDS, although it is the perfect organization when it comes to communication due to their well-known profile and a huge geographical spread.

Risk factors for stroke include smoking, high alcohol intake, physical inactivity, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, high waist-hip ratio and diabetes.

Bakgrund: Distriktssköterskor som arbetar inom barnhälsovården möter i sitt arbete de flesta familjerna ute i samhället och har möjlighet att komma i kontakt med barn som far illa. Misstankar att barn far illa måste anmälas till socialtjänsten. Anmälan om misstankar kan leda till etiska dilemman där rättvisa, att göra gott och inte skada skapar konflikter.Syfte: Syftet med studien var att inom BHV belysa sjuksköterskors erfarenheter  av anmälningsplikten till socialtjänsten, vid misstankar om barn som far illa.Metod: Studien genomfördes utifrån en kvalitativ ansats. Sex distriktssköterskor inom barnhälsovården deltog vid semistrukturerade intervjuer. Data analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys på manifest nivå.Resultat: Studiens resultat presenteras i fyra huvudkategorier och elva underkategorier.

The Northern Raccoon (Procyon lotor) belongs to the Carnivore-family and is a species endemic to North America. Every year hundreds of orphaned raccoon cubs are admitted into the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota (WRCM), a non-profit organization where all injured or orphaned wild animals are admitted and receive quality health care with the goal of being released out into the wild. The WRCM routinely vaccinate all of the admitted raccoon cubs with a killed feline panleucopenia vaccine, but despite this there are outbreaks of parvovirus infection every year where up to 50% of the admitted cubs have been euthanized or died. The objective of this study was to determine whether vaccinating the admitted raccoon kits has any significant protective effect to developing clinical parvoviral disease. A single-blinded cohort study was designed with two parallel, independent groups. One group was given a dose of killed feline parvovirus vaccine at admission, and the other group was not given any vaccination at all. Assignment to the vaccinated or unvaccinated group was on a per-litter basis and done randomly by drawing lots out of a box.

The health care system in most western countries is undergoing rapid changes with an increasing amount of people living with chronic cancer. These people have to deal with their disease in every day life together with working and family life. The relationship between health services and every day life has changed and raises new requirements. Earlier research has shown that maintaining every day life is important for cancer patients and their families. This study comprised patients with lymphoma receiving their diagnosis during 2003 ? 2005.

A vulnerable group in society is people with ASD (autism spectrum disorders) or autism. This group seems to increase, mainly due to genetic factors but also environmental problems. Medical research has accelerated in the U.S. and Europe. The biggest problem for people with disabilities is the inability to communicate, both verbally and socially.

We believe that those numbers doesn't make sense when compared to how few people trust realtors, which is where our aim with the study comes from.Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the real estate brokerage industry's reputation by previous research in relationship marketing.Method: The study was conducted with a deductive and for the most part with a positivistic approach.

In many developing countries, among them Vietnam, contamination of agricultural land is a major issue that has public health implications. A fast growing population, rapid urbanization and industrialization have led to air and water emissions of potentially toxic elements (PTEs), such as cadmium (Cd). Earlier studies have shown that individuals with low iron (Fe) and zinc (Zn) status absorb larger quantities of Cd than those of adequate nutritional status. The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare the Fe and Zn intake from the foods consumed by women (15-45 years) in selected households in two agricultural villag-es in the Red River delta in Vietnam. In one of the villages the residents were involved in metal (mainly Fe) recycling activity, whereas in the other village the residents had agricul-tural production as main source of income. Interviews, followed by food intake calcula-tions, were performed.

Sigill Quality Systems has been certifying beef since the autumn of 2006 using the brand name label Swedish Sigill. IP Sigill (the certifying system for integrated production) encompasses the values: animal ethics, food safety, free range and environmental concerns. Product quality is not yet one of these values, and there is a variation in the quality of Swedish beef. Swedish Sigill wanted to investigate the factors that influence product quality, review which of the present regulations that have an influence on product quality and formulate new regulations with the purpose of enhancing the product quality (sensorial, technological and nutritional quality). A survey of quality parameters and factors that influence product quality was done in order to establish a scientific foundation to work from.

?Mechanical debridment ? A studie in irrigation optimization? is a final thesis which was executed by Fredrick Ekman, in close collaboration with the other group member Mikael Johansson, during the spring 2012. The thesis was carried out through Karlstad University Faculty of Technology and Science in the study program of Innovation and Design Engineering (180 ECTS credits). The client of the project was Medilink AB located in Lindesberg, and the contact person was Nils-Erik Söderström, Chief Executive Officer. The project was supervised by lecturer, Lennart Wihk, and examined by lecturer and professor Fredrik Thuvander at Karlstad University.

Problemdiskussion: Under 2013 har Brottsförebyggande rådet lämnat statistik som visar att en fjärdedel av alla anmälda ekonomiska brott i Skaraborgsområdet är bokföringsbrott. En fjärdedel är en stor andel och borde undersökas mer ingående. Det är oklart hur många anmälningar som har kommit från revisorer under 2013. En rapport av Larsson (2004) visar dock att endast 1 % av alla anmälda ekobrott kommer från revisorer. Det finns flera studier som menar att anmälningsskyldigheten inte har haft någon effekt på förhindrandet av ekobrott då få anmälningar har kommit från revisorer.
