Mussel Meal is a potential source of protein, with a good composition of amino acids, for laying hens and broiler chickens, and may replace the use of fish Meal in organic poultry production. Lead and cadmium are heavy metals which occur in the environment and can be accumulated in mussels. When poultry are exposed to heavy metals, the metals are absorbed in the small intestine and distributed in the body in the form of ions, complexes or bound to proteins. In poultry, lead accumulates in bone tissue, liver and kidneys, while cadmium accumulates in liver and kidneys. Generally very low concentrations of these heavy metals occur in muscles of broilers which have been exposed to feed contaminated with cadmium or lead.

The aim of this report has been to investigate the use of electricity energy before and after a conversion of foodservice. The ambition was also to highlight the food safety and the retention of nutrients in relation to the conversion. The methods being used were qualitative interviews, case studies, study visits and literature. The equipment and the use of energy was the same in 2008 as in 2011 for hot-holding of the tested component, sauce with ham. The chilled system used more than three times the energy and cost for one portion than one portion in the hot-hold system.

Med tanke på sjukdomens fysiska och psykiska påverkan på individen anses fler hälsofrämjande insatser vara nödvändiga för att öka demenssjukas upplevelse av välmående och livskvalitet, trots sjukdom. Måltidssituationen kan påverka individers kostintag och matlust både positivt och negativt, därmed är det ett relevant område att utforska.Studiens syfte är att belysa hur måltidssituationen på ett gruppboende för personer med demenssjukdom kan påverka matlust och kostintag. Begreppet måltidssituation definieras i ett tidigt skede med hjälp av Five Aspects Meal Model och används som stöd vid utformning av intervjuguide och under observationer.

Soybean Meal from South America is the most common protein feed used for animal production in Sweden. Production of soybean has negative effects on the environment and the transports from South America to Sweden causes considerable CO2 emissions. Therefore it is a growing interest in locally produced protein feed in Sweden. Protein feeds that are possible to grow in Sweden are rapeseed, peas, faba beans and lupins. Those are adapted to the Nordic climate and are perfect to grow in cereal rotations.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the lunchtime from a language development perspective. It will compare two preschools with different ways of organizing Mealtimes and observe the conversations between teachers and children. It will also study the ways in which a Meal is served and how it affects the conversations. In one of the preschools the children eat in a proper dining room where the food is served as a buffet while in the other preschool the children eat in the preschoolarea and the food is served in bowls on the tables. I also want to investigate how two of these preschool teachers reflect on the Mealtimes as part of the language development plan.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect on growth of foals on two different diets, either a forage-based diet or a diet containing approx. 40 % concentrate. The report also includes a review of the pertinent literature on the effects of diet on mares? milk and growth of horses. The hypothesis of the study was that a forage based diet will result in a similar growth pattern as a diet including more concentrates if the diets contain the same amount of energy, crude protein, lysine, calcium and phosphorous.

The purpose of this study is to examine the Swedish national student organizations attitudes towards school food and the school food debate between 1957-1982. The previous research on the subject maps the historical background and development of the school Meal, but lacks a contemporary student perspective from the chosen time period, not least on a deeper and more political level. The theoretical starting points in the study concern organizations and their influence on public authorities as well as student influence. These theoretical frameworks are used to describe the conditions for the currently active national student organizations; Elevf?rbundet and SECO, in the political arena.

Syftet med detta arbete är att undersöka vilken uppfattning pedagoger i förskola och skola har om sambandet mellan mat och koncentration. Anser de att mat har en betydelse för barns förmåga att delta i de verksamheter de befinner sig i? För att barn och vuxna skall orka vara delaktiga i sociala sammanhang och kunna vara koncentrerade krävs en näringsriktig kost. Vi har därför sökt att få fram vad som betraktas vara en näringsriktig måltid för barn. Genom enkätundersökning, intervju, observation samt litteraturstudier har vi försökt att få fram svar på dessa frågor.

I dagens samhälle lever allt fler människor längre och detta beror på att den allmännalevnadsstandarden har ökat. Sedan 1960- talet har den svenska befolkningen som är över 80 årtredubblats vilket innebär att efterfrågan för äldreomsorg har ökat betydligt. Måltiden är en stor delutav vardagen för en person som bor på ett äldreboende, det uppfyller dagligaktiviteter och ärlivsnödvändigt för att kroppen skall fungera som vanligt.Syftet med studien är att analysera hur måltidsmiljön gestaltar sig på ett äldreboende samt attundersöka brukarnas uppfattning kring en bra måltidsmiljö.För att undersöka hur måltiden upplevs och ser ut på ett äldreboende har det genomförts enetnografiskt inspirerad fallstudie som utgjordes av både intervjuer och observationer. Den teoretiskaramen som användes utgick från The Five Aspects Meal Model.För att analysera hur måltidsmiljön gestaltar sig och vad brukarna upplever är ett bra rum, möte ochatmosfär resulterade det i ett upplägg som byggdes kring ett tema: en bra måltidsmiljö, 3 kategorier:materiella faktorer, social samvaro och upplevelse och 19 underkategorier. Temat påvisar den totalahelheten som brukarna återspeglar i vad som bör utgöra grunden i en optimal måltidsmiljöResultatet visar att måltidsfaktorerna kan bidra till en bättre måltidsmiljö.

This thesis is based on design theory about how to build an application for the mobile platform, a scientific analysis and an application for grocery shopping and Meal planning. The thesis also contains a valuation of the research and of the application. The valuation of the application was done by a usability test and an analysis of the results of the test.The application of the thesis has an easy navigation system, which is time saving and simple to use. Finding recipes with the associated ingredients is a quick fix. The search function can be used for searching freely after recipes as well as for separate ingredients. That makes it possible for the user to create own recipes from available ingredients.

Syftet med studien är att få en djupare förståelse för hur lunchmåltiden ser ut på förskolor med olika pedagogiska inriktningar. Detta får vi genom att undersöka om man kan se spår av dessa under måltidssituationen. I studien tar vi även reda på vilka spår av Lpfö 98 som framkom under lunchsituationen. Inriktningarna som ingår i arbetet är Montessori, Reggio Emilia och ?I ur och skur?.

The feed is a major cost in the dairy production and there is a constant interest in findingalternative cost-effective feedstuffs. Competitive dairy producers have to seek ways todecrease their production costs and the pursuit of cost-effective feed rations contributesto lower costs of production. An interesting group of protein concentrates are rapeseedproducts like ExPro (heat treated rapeseed) which have during the autumn 2008 andspring 2009 been very favourable compared to other protein feeds.This study focuses on the feedstuff products ExPro and Raps-Drank 60/40 (rapeseeddistillersgrain). The potential use of ExPro in dairy cow feed rations are also explored.ExPro is a well known feedstuff but Raps-Drank 60/40 is a relatively new product andnot known for many farmers.A field study on the use of rapeseed products was made on a limited number of dairyfarms. The main purpose was to study the management of the feedstuffs on the farms.The Farms were selected in cooperation with two local extension services.

AbstractAn approaching overproduction of cereals and a future uncertain supply of non genetic modified vegetable protein feedstuffs have increased the interest in an expansion of the domestic production of protein feedstuffs in Norway. Besides rapeseed (Brassica campestris), peas (Pisum sativum) may be the most suitable crop for this purpose. Peas are characterized by having a relatively high content of crude protein, ranging between 20-26%, a high content of starch, 42-51%, and a low content of fat. In general, the energy value for peas is higher than for barley but lower than for rapeseed and soybean Meal.Pea protein consists of albumins and globulins to 85-100%, which leads to the fact that a large part of the pea protein is soluble and degradable in the rumen. Starch in peas is on the other hand to a large extent resistant to rumen degradation compared to starch from other starch rich feedstuffs.
