Fluid Simulation for Visual Effects

This thesis describes a system for dealing with free surface fluid simulations, and the components needed in order to construct such a system. It builds upon recent research, but in a computer graphics context the amount of available literature is limited and difficult to implement. Because of this, the text aims at providing a solid foundation of the mathematics needed, at explaining in greater detail the steps needed to solve the problem, and lastly at improving some aspects of the animation process as it has been described in earlier works. The aim of the system itself is to provide visually plausible renditions of animated fluids in three dimensions in a manner that allows it to be usable in a visual effects production context. The novel features described include a generalized interaction layer providing greater control to artists, a new way of dealing with moving objects that interact with the fluid and a method for adding source and drain capabilities..

Praktisk matematik integrerad med idrott: Geometri i idrottshallen

Vårt huvudsyfte med studien var att undersöka om praktisk matematikundervisning i idrottshallen kan motivera och stärka elevers lärande. Undersökningen utfördes med enkäter i fyra årskurs sju klasser, med totalt 72 elever i samt intervjuer med fyra lärare, på två olika grundskolor i södra Sverige under perioden januari-februari 2008. Eftersom urvalsgruppen var liten, kan vi inte dra några generella slutsatser. Bakgrunden till vår undersökning var att vi hade fått uppfattningen om att praktisk matematikundervisning inte förekom så ofta i grundskolan. Studien visar att lärarna använder praktiska undervisningsmetoder som ett stöd för att få djupare förståelse hos eleverna.

Kvantitativ Modellering av förmögenhetsrättsliga dispositiva tvistemål

I den här uppsatsen beskrivs en ansats till att med hjälp av statistiska metoder förutse utfallet i förmögenhetsra?ttsliga dispositiva tvistemål. Logistiska- och multilogistiska regressionsmodeller skattades på data för 13299 tvistemål från 5 tingsrätter och användes  till att förutse utfallet för 1522 tvistemål från 3 andra tingsrätter.  Modellerna presterade bättre än slumpen vilket ger stöd för slutsatsen att man kan använda statistiska metoder för att förutse utfallet i denna typ av tvistemål..

"Dom kallar oss invandrare!" : En undersökning som bygger på hur ungdomar av "andra generationens invandrare" identifierar sig själva.

This investigation is aimed to analyze and gain insight into how young people of the "second generation immigrants" identify themselves in a society where they are seen as immigrants of the environment in view of the name. Also, how they identify themselves during trips to their home/country of origin are of relevance to see if they are affected in their own identification, depending on how they believe they are seen from the outside.Through a survey, the statistics were produced, which serves as a preliminary to the larger part of the investigation where six individuals were interviewed in order to give deeper answers to the questions sought. The answers that emerged were then analyzed in relation to selected theories.In connection with the investigation it has emerged that the young people in question often identify themselves in such a way that they think that the surroundings look at them. It is in relation to how others see them as they see themselves, which creates a distance between the surroundings and themselves. Informationshantering kring nationella prov i matematik på gymnasiet

This work studied the information flow and information handling among different parties. The study focused on how educational materials on national tests from The Swedish National Agency for Education is managed by school principals and teachers and how the information is passed on to students. The data material was based on observations and interviews at two different high schools. Six teachers and their classes and principals participated in the study. The Agency was also interviewed.

Läraren och den matematiska kommunikationen : Hur lärare tolkar och arbetar med matematisk kommunikation i årskurs Fk-3

The Swedish curriculum points out mathematical communication as one of the importantabilities that students need to develop. Previous studies show that students have not been given the right conditions to develop this ability sufficiently. The purpose of this study is to investigate how some Swedish teachers interpret mathematical communication and how the work with this takes place in their classrooms.The investigation consists of qualitative interviews with six teachers in the grades of Fk-3. The interviews have been focused around the teacher's interpretation regarding mathematical communication, how this is reflected in their work in the classroom and also if they see any advantages or difficulties in working with mathematical communication with their pupils.The result of the study shows that the teachers are well aware of the importance of communication and they have a will and an intention to let the pupils communicate mathematically. Mathematical communication is emphasized mainly as important for the pupil's learning and understanding.

Jämställdhetsarbete - det lagstadgade arbetet som inte prioriteras : En studie kring jämställdhetsarbete i privata företag

The purpose of this essay is to investigate and analyze how widely and intensive genderequality issues are considered within Swedish companies. Qualitative interviews werearranged with personnel managers within each company, and complemented with aquestionnaire amongst the employees. The collected information was analysed on the basis ofgender theory, organization and change theory, theory of equal opportunities and historicalstatistics. The outcome of the analysis indicates that companies find gender equality of highinterest, and important to address within the daily work. However the analysis also shows thateven though the companies find gender equality important it is only adopted within few areas,and not across all departments.

"Allt ska dokumenteras" : - en kvalitativ studie av den ökande dokumentationen inom svensk sjukvård

The main purpose of this essay is to study the role of documentation in Swedish health care today and the consequences of the augmentations in paper work that have taken place during the last couple of decades. The method used in this study is interviews with health care personnel.The following questions are treated:-       What kind of documentation has increased in Swedish health care?-       How is the patient/health care professionals affected?-       How is the work of the health care professionals affected?The conclusion of the essay is that the increasing amount of time spent on documentation that for much part has never been performed before, (such as risk analyses, statistics and writing much more thorough charts), has consequently left very little time for actual patient care. The research also showed that faith in health care professionals has significantly decreased and that one of the major reasons for increased documenting is the anticipation of and therefore protection against potential complaints. A First Effort to Visualize Knowledge of a Region? A visualization of Öresund & Shenzhen in the perspective of Knowledge Innovation Zone

We have through our theoretical framework been able to create a simplified measuring tool for a KIZ; the S-TKL. We have found that the S-TKL is possible to implement on the Öresund Region but with some flaws. Even though the Öresund Region has implemented the mindset of a KIZ, accurate statistics are in some areas hard to find. We can also through our empirical findings say that it is difficult to use the S-TKL on Shenzhen. The data we have found gives a good indication of both of the regions.

Datorprogram och skolmatematik : en granskning av matematikuppgifter i didaktiska datorprogram

Studien syftar till att granska ett urval av pedagogiska datorprogram avsedda för matematik för att få reda på vad det är för typ av matematikuppgifter användaren (eleven) kan möta. Den teoretiska referensramen behandlar tre områden. Dessa är matematik, olika sätt att kategorisera matematikuppgifter samt olika sätt att kategorisera datorprogram. Sammanfattningsvis visar resultatet att det är svårt att kategorisera matematikuppgifter strikt. Beroende på val av program kan eleven möta uppgifter där det matematiska innehållet innefattar allt från ett upp till sex olika områden av grundskolans matematik.

Elevers metakognitiva kunskaper i matematik : En enkätstudie kring elevers medvetenhet om sitt matematiska lärande

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka elevers motivation och metakognitiva kunskaper i matematik. Vi har undersökt vilken inställning elever, i årskurs ett på gymnasiet har till matematiken, elevers medvetenhet kring hur de lär sig matematik på bästa sätt samt hur elever ser på sitt lärande och vad de gör för att påverka sitt lärande. I studien har vi också undersökt vilka skillnader eller likheter som finns mellan pojkar och flickor samt mellan elever på ett yrkesinriktat program respektive ett studieförberedande program på gymnasiet. Vi har använt oss av kvantitativ forskningsmetod och strukturerade enkäter. Slutsatser och resultat vi har kunnat dra är att inställningen till matematik som ämne är negativ och studiens resultat pekar på att det inte är några större skillnader mellan elever på yrkesförberedande och studieförberedande program..

Geometri i skolan

Syftet med detta arbete har varit att ta reda på elevers kunskaper om de geometriska begreppen dm3 och m2 samt hur lärarna undervisar i dessa avsnitt. Detta har vi tagit fram genom att först göra en litteraturstudie följt av intervjuer. Av litteraturen fick vi fram att laborativt arbete och materiel är essentiella delar i geometriundervisningen och har så varit under hela skolans historia. Det gäller att använda materielen på rätt sätt för att få ett bra resultat.Resultatdelen, med intervjuer, visade att elevernas kunskaper gällande begreppen är vaga och ofullständiga. Deras resultat var sämre än vad vi trodde med undantag för de starka eleverna.

Självkänsla och motivation : En studie kring gymnasieelevers självkänsla och motivation inom ämnet matematik

The objective of this study was to bring further knowledge to the subject as to what influences students motivation and self-esteem. The study had focus on role that the teachers play in these aspects. The study was done by using both a qualitative and quantitative approach. The qualitative method was interviews based on six interviews with two teachers and four students from two different classes. The quantitative method was a questionnaire study that was done in both classes.

Kulturanvändande bland Unga : En studie om kulturvanor, ungdomars livsvillkor och bibliotekets roll

The aim of this bachelor thesis has been to examine and develop our own understanding about how young people in Sweden (16-29 years of age), take part in cultural activities. As librarians it is important to know what kind of activities and interests this particular group has. With Pierre Bourdieu?s theoretical framework towards habitus and capital we are interested to see if there is a connection between one?s cultural use and background, if different access to capital with or within groups has an affect or not. With both statistics and interviews with people within our target, we believe this data has been sufficient enough to conduct a good and valid study.

Barnkullar och arbetslöshet - Stora barnkullar och möjligheter på arbetsmarknaden

Youth unemployment in Europe is a big problem today. The number of unemployed young people has risen past decades, from 10 % in1980 to over 20 % 2010. The purpose with this thesis is to deal with big cohorts and unemployment rate for young people 20-24 years old in Sweden. I have a look at three different generations, people born:1963-1967 and start working 19871968-1972 and start working 19941988 and start working 2008-2012Did these people from a baby boom face any specific difficulties when entering the labor market 20-24 years later? I have used Easterlin theory in my work and lokked at statistics from SCB (Statsitiska centralbyrån) in Sweden.
