Identified opportunities and challenges inCSR certification : the case of CSC9000T in China?s textile industry
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) issues have been received much attention in businessand management practises globally. Jensen & Yeh (2009, 3) state that ?The agenda ofCorporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has emerged as a factor in the process of globalization, and Chinese companies may sometimes feel pushed into this agenda without a clearunderstanding of the rationale behind it?. China?s textile and apparel industry, amanufacturing-based economy with its products bounding up with the consumers worldwide, has been facing enormous pressure to take CSR initiatives, particularly in relation toenvironmental issues and labor standards.

Responsible sourcing and transparency in the home textile industry : the case of cotton
CSR, Corporate Social Responsibility, has become increasingly important in a globalised world where the responsibilities of companies and governments are somewhat blurry. The textile industry is an industry where long supply chains and raw material production in developing countries are factors adding to the complexity and difficulties of solving ethical issues. Cotton production faces many environmental, social and financial challenges in the value chain. Therefore this case study takes a closer look at five Nordic home textile companies, Ikea, Hemtex, S Group, Moko and Finlayson, and how these companies choose their cotton related CSR tools and communicate their work on this area. These companies are of various sizes and therefore the resources for CSR work are also different, as well as the perceived values for working with CSR.
The following essay aims to determine what textbooks and teaching media educators in the county of Västerbotten use when teaching the relation between religion and science. Based on educational science theory and through analyzes of factual texts, the teaching materials was examined to determine how much focus they put on the thematic of religion and science. The result shows how the different teaching materials affect this thematic differently. The main conclusion is therefore that students in Sweden could, depending on the teaching materials used in their education, be taught by different standards to reach the same requirements..
The physical environment is constructed of materials. The materiality of different places contributes to how places can be distinguished and the material can contribute to the construction of place identity. For architects with different orientations the material is one of the principal means by which they can express their idea. The material remains when the design process is finished and instead the material becomes a precondition for how people will perceive and deal with the place. The literature study of the essay examines how the concept of place and materiality is dealt with in different disciplines and how these descriptions are linked to the concept of place identity.
Elektronstrukturbaserad magnetiseringsdynamik
In this project a method used for performing accurate simulations on magnetization dynamics based on constrained field density functional theory has been validated and used for performing computations on a few magnetic materials. The method has been shown to simulate systems consisting of iron well, but there are still problems with simulations of alloys containing both magnetic and non-magnetic materials..
The effect of new raw materials on pellet prices
As demand for renewable energy is increasing rapidly, the market for biomass pellets
is expected to continue to grow in the near future. Most of the new raw materials that
are discussed for pellet production have one thing in common; the production costs
will increase compared to using traditional raw materials such as sawdust and planer
shavings. The aim of this thesis is to investigate to what degree increased use of new
raw materials for pellet production will affect the general pellet prices in Sweden and
to survey what plans Swedish pellet producers have concerning new raw materials.
To investigate the raw material situation of the Swedish pellet producers an industry
survey was performed. Literature studies were also made on previous research in the
subject field. Calculations of the production costs for pellets were done for the raw
materials sawdust, wet sawmill chips and energy wood respectively.
New raw materials are already used by the large-scale pellet producers in Sweden.
Textil och glas ? ett universum
This work is about presenting the weave in a new and different context, by bringing textile and glass together. The work is characterized by material and shape experiments with silver and copper weave and hand blown glass. From experiments and sketches, the work has resulted in four sculptures, symbolizing four selected stages in a lifecycle; the birth, the development, the maturity and the death. One important part of the work has been to combine different materials and techniques.Studies of literature, sketching, handweaving and integration of silver and copper weave in the glass have been important methods in the working process. Inspired by the flower, the human being and the universe, a story about the life cycle has taken shape. The paper describes the working process with choices and analyses.
"Jag ska också göra chokladbollar" : En undersökning om hur tillgången till konstruktionsmaterial påverkar barn i förskolan
The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the availability of construction materials affect children's constructions and play. Observations were made when the children were allowed to play and build with very little and much of the material play-doh dough in preschool. The study is aimed at children aged 3 ? 5 years. Interviews were also conducted with educators in departments where the children spent time to give support to this study. The result shows that the children create as many designs of any material amount.

I?ve been working with traditional materials such as ceramic sculptures and oil oncanvas. By using these traditional materials I can bring in more lowbrow aesthetic suchas package design, illustration, toys, animations, comics etc. and transform it to somethingdifferent.Using this aesthetic and techniques became a way for me to communicate everydaythoughts on life as well as my most inner thoughts on how I think about myself. This report is about how I?ve been using these components to realize my master degreework for the Spring Exhibition at Konstfack in Stockholm, 2014.This report also extend my process of getting there..
Ekologi som kommersiell vara
Organic cotton has been in the medias field of vision for quite some time. This interestalso reflects in a growing awareness in the textile industry where more and morecompanies today offer organic cotton in their product range. With this in mind wequestion whether organic cotton has become a viable commercial product. We alsoacknowledge there is a lacking of understanding the complex problems that organiccotton manufacture involves, for example the huge effort and cost required for a transitionfrom conventional to organic cotton farming. The purpose of this paper was to study how textile, ecology and competition today arebeing combined by companies. We wanted with our investigation to find out whethercompanies in the textile industry use ecology as a competitive advantage.
För gammal för att leka affär? : Laborativ matematikundervisning i mellanstadiet.
The purpose of this study was to examine the use of manipulative materials in mathematics education with the main focus on grades 4 to 6. With the use of a phenomenological approach all the aspects of this phenomenon was examined. Qualitative interviews, participant observations and comparative content analysis of textbooks has been conducted to investigate the use of manipulative materials in mathematics education. The results indicates that the teachers that were interviewed possesses good knowledge of this teaching method. However these teachers struggled to find time to put this method into practice and there was not enough teachers to attend these classes.

The aim of this study is to establish an understanding of how the concept educational materials can be interpreted, as well as to investigate how teachers describe their use of educational materials. The focus of this study is the subject ?Sign Language for the hearing?, at the upper secondary level. We, the authors of this essay, both have a great personal interest in this language. Swedish Sign Language is the sign language mainly used in Sweden.
FRISTADS ? Supply Chains, från tråd till arbetsbyxa
The Swedish Textile industry has since the beginning of the 70-ties moved their production to countries with cheap labour further and further away. The production in the Baltic countries and Asia has become reality for many Swedish manufacturing companies. With today?s technology the communication with remote countries has ceased to be a problem. The difficulties have instead turned out to be more focused on transportation of goods and just in time deliveries to Sweden.
