The early 20th century saw the Church of Sweden (Svenska kyrkan) come under threat from the modernization of the Swedish society. As a reaction to this and a way to secure the survival of the church a number theologians came up with a theological framework for the folk church (folkkyrkotanken).The parish of Masthugget was one of the poorest in the entire diocese of Gothenburg in the beginning of the 20th century. This is where Gottfrid Klingner came to serve first as a pastor and later as the vicar for more than 30 years. In which way did his view on the church affect life for the inhabitants in his parish and how were his actions affected by the framework for the folk church? This paper shows that the practice of Klingner in Masthugget can be linked to many of the ideas associated to the folk church concept..

Studien behandlar det mångfacetterade fenomenet gentrifiering, vilket kan ta sig en lång rad av uttryck, och eventuell förekomst av gentrifiering i några utvalda områden i Göteborg. De utvalda studieområden i staden är sex centralt lokali-serade primärområden: Inom Vallgraven, Brämaregården, Masthugget, Kungsla-dugård, Kålltorp samt Guldheden. Utvald studieperiod är åren 1990, 2000 och 2010.Gentrifiering som fenomen, dess uttryck och eventuella orsaker beskrivs i uppsatsen. Gentrifieringsprocesser i staden identifieras med hjälp av för studien utvalda indikatorer, indelade i kategorierna befolkningssammansättning, ekono-miska förutsättningar och boendesituation i respektive område. I studien inklude-ras också en granskning av Göteborgs stads policys vad gäller bostadsbyggande och bostadspolitik.

HSB Göteborg owns and manages the property Masthugget 11:13 also called the Corvette in Gothenburg. The Corvette contains mostly office space but also shops, homes and garages. HSB Göteborg utilizes approximately 5000 square meters to its headquarters but in December 2014 they will move operations to Johanneberg Science Park. The risk of an increased proportion of vacancies in combination with relatively low rents and other tenant terminations allows HSB to ask for a future plan for how the real estate should be developed in order to remain profitable.Through studies of the area, urban office prospects, property current status and legal and economic conditions have different potential types of businesses been evaluated. City Planning Office program proposal forms the basis for the analysis of future plans for the area.

ABSTRACTToday's modern technological society is constantly evolving and house planning is one area that is constantly creating new technical solutions. By looking back at selected architectural eras during the 1900?s, the idea is to study and analyse three building structures in Gothenburg with a focus on quality and content in the urban space.In order to provide a background for the three selected areas, their history has been studied. The main question for the research is: how do different building structures affect the content and qualities in the urban space?The areas have been selected to represent three typical epochs in Swedish building history.
