Tyr ? A historical and comparative study of configurations and formations connected to the Old Norse god Tyr. Klas af Edholm This thesis has two aims. One is a discussion of the history of the study of Old Norse religion and related aspects, centered on how general tendencies within the area of research have affected the interpretations of the god *T?waz/Tyr.

There are several factors influencing the profitability of production with sheep. Two of the most important factors are ewe fertility and lamb survival. Also growth capacity of the lambs is important. This paper aims to review correlations between the ewe?s fertility and maternal behavior and lamb survival.

The purpose of this thesis is to compare five different ranking algorithms for query expansion. The algorithms compared are f4, f4mod, porter, wpq, and emim. This is done using a TREC collection, a selection of topics, and relevance judgements. Relative recall is measured before and after the expansion of the query. The study shows that all of the algorithms manage to increase the relative recall, f4 being the one most successful..

This report is a documentation of a Master?s thesis of 20 credits performed at the educational program of Technical Product- and Production Development with Design at Halmstad University. The project is carried out in cooperation with Hafa AB in Halmstad.The purpose of this project was to bring forth a concept of a bathroom cabinet for Hafa?s new selection Young through creative design methods. The selection is supposed to attract the younger purchaser but also a target group that dare to experiment with home furnishing and appreciates new design.

The challenges facing low voltage grids are rising as an increasing number of domestic houses transition from fossil fueled heating to electricity based heating. Several environmental goals and visions have the same transition from fossil based power to electricity based power in mind for the transportation sector. One of the most important tools for this transformation is widely regarded to be the electric vehicle. With the demands of the electric vehicle pressuring the power grid, several questions arise regarding the growth of the electric vehicle market and what repercussions it may have on the grid. This paper focuses on a typical low voltage grid in southern Sweden and what effects a growing electric vehicle market may have on it. Through computer-assisted simulations based on several future scenarios regarding the EV market, this paper finds that few modifications and reinforcements are needed on this particular grid within the next 10 to 15 years.

For centuries inbreeding has been used to refine traits in dogs, making desired traits more hereditary and thereby, different breeds have been invented. Breed standards have been written for each of these breeds, describing in detail the different characteristics of each breed. When humans start to choose which animal to breed from, so called artificial selection, taste is put before function and the laws of nature, the natural selection, cease to apply. During this development, pedigree dogs have gone towards more and more extreme exterior characteristics and the dogs may have inherited various, more or less, severe problems for example compromised vision, impaired ability to move and difficulties to breathe. However they can still survive and reproduce because humans provide them with the conditions to do so.

The purpose of our essay is to investigate the trust in accountants. The method we used to investigate the trust was a survey and a questionnaire was used to collect the data. The data was gathered from three different groups, shareholders, lenders and tax authority. When we analysed the data we found out that the groups trust in accountants were neither strong nor weak. The results can be generalized on all the three groups because the observations were scattered around the means and we used random selection to collect the data.

Många våtmarker i slättbygder har under 1900-talet dikats ut och lagts om till åkermark, samtidigt som de kvarvarande fått ta emot allt mer näringsämnen från omgivande marker. Kärr i områden med kalkberggrund är oftast artrika, med flera växt- och djurarter knutna till just dem. Därför är de viktigt att de sköts på ett långsiktigt hållbart sätt. Bernstorps mosse ligger strax utanför Malmö i ett område som präglas av både intensivt jordbruk och utbyggnaden av varuhus och industrier. Uppsatsens syfte har varit att granska hur kärrets sköts just nu och vad som eventuellt kan göras bättre i skötselarbetet.

"Race" is often used as a marker to exclude people from a society. What is interesting is not so much what terms that are used to describe people, but by what meaning they are associated with. For this thesis articles published in daily magazines have been the material used. An argument driven in the essay is that identity and oppression is not constituted from one subject position, but from several, such as class, sexuality and gender. The first question posed is how "race" is constituted through discourses throughout the subject positions class, sexuality and gender.

Nina Johansson starts her essay by making some examples of dreams to show the diversity of the ?dream world?. She speaks of how all humans dream, that it ties us together. She wants to translate the ?feeling of dreams? into wearable objects, and to be able to do that, she must try and describe what that feeling consists of.

Studien undersökte dessa tre motivationskategoriernas inbördes rangordning och skillnader mellan utbildningsinriktning och kön samt samband med generell self-efficacy och personlighetsegenskaper enligt femfaktormodellen.  192 studenter deltog från en mellansvensk högskola, därav 54 män, 90 från socionomprogrammen, 72 från det internationella businessprogrammet och 30 från två ingenjörsprogram.  De besvarade en enkät bestående av Chan och Drasgows Motivation to lead scale, Chen, Gully och Edens General self- efficacy scale och Shafers femfaktormodell Big Five Marker. Resultatet visar att det finns skillnader mellan motivationskategorier och utbildningsinriktning.

Today's research on animal assisted interventions (AAI) has focused on the positive effects on humans. Dogs used for AAI are an expanding market, but the research on this area hasn't followed the increasing use. The few studies on dogs in this field mostly observed their cortisol-levels and are very ambiguous. I have observed the behaviour of dogs working with AAI compared to when they are off-duty to see how they are affected by their work. Their handlers where also told to make an assessment of the dog's emotions during the session.

The RECK gene is a relatively new discovered gene with important implications for cancer research. The research has been primarily concentrated on the human gene with the ultimate aim to identify the invasive characteristics. Up regulated RECK is linked to significantly prolonged survival rates in patients with severe forms of malignancies. RECK is normally expressed in all cells of the body and has an important role in the balance between destructive and constructive features of the extracellular matrix. The RECK protein is a membrane-bound glycoprotein that inhibit matrix metalloproteinases which has the function of breaking down the ECM. There is a significant correlation between RECK gene expression and the formation of new vessels, presumably via the mediation of VEGF which is an important and powerful inducer of angiogenesis.

Ett hårt pressat lantbruk som med ökad prispress från utlandet och sjunkande lönsamhet kämpar för att finnas kvar. Bioenergin är ett helt nytt område som öppnat sig och erbjuder nya inkomstkällor och grödor till det svenska lantbruket.Att energipriserna ökar och i synnerhet ett ökande oljepris ger ett ökat intresse av bioenergi från svenska lantbrukares fält. Vad ska vi då odla? Frågan är bra ställd i perspektivet till vilka marker och förutsättningar man har som lantbrukare.Rörflen är en stark kandidat med sin mångsidighet från foder till förbränning i fastbränslepannor med alternativ värden för etanol tillverkning och biogas utan att odlingen behöver ställas om i några stora drag. Och att nyteknik pressenteras att göra biodiesel av biomassa ökar värdet av rörflen och dess rationella odling.Att det sedan är en växt som är inhemsk med goda övervintringsegenskaper gör den mer intressant än nya grödor med sämre odlingssäkerhet eller stora näringsbehov.Detta ledde mig att se om inte Rörflen skulle kunna vara en intressant gröda för södra Sverige som att den är i norra delen av landet, där den största odlingsarealen ligger..
