Att skriva sig till läsning via datorn : Lärarens val?
The purpose of my study is to examine why five primary school teachers chose to start using the method ?Learning reading by writing on computer? in their teaching. How do they perceive that the method works in their classroom and do they perceive that the method affect the children?s Literacy?The study consists of a qualitative method in form of interviews with five primary school teachers and also some observations made by me in the classrooms. I will use the findings I made during the interviews and observations and contrast these to relevant literature and research that I have collected.The result of my study shows that all of the interviewed teachers had a self-interest in working with the method ?Learning reading by writing on computers? and that they also worked closely with colleagues.

This study focuses on the encounter between the academic librarian and the academic library user with a specific need for information. The aim of the study is to examine the process of mediation of information and to uncover any inherent problems or systemic inertia that may occur within that process.Special attention has been given to information-seeking behaviour in the digital age and the possibility of viewing information Literacy as a meta-Literacy. The difference between the surface web and the academic invis- ible web is also investigated. Empirical data was collected by the use of ethnographic fieldwork at the Karolin- ska Institutet University Library over a period of five weeks. The data is analysed using actor-network theory as a point of departure.

Att behärska Literacy är en nödvändighet för att fullt ut kunna ta del av vårt samhälle. Att lära sig att behärska skriftspråket är en lång resa som börjar redan i förskolan. Det här arbetet har som syfte att belysa i vilka situationer under dagen som barn är delaktiga i Literacyhändelser. Detta har gjorts med hjälp av frågeställningar som behandlar när Literacyhändelser sker, hur de ser ut, vad de innehåller och vem som initierar dem. I studien anläggs ett sociokulturellt perspektiv på Literacy.

I have with this thesis sought to understand how chick lit could be useful in the classroom in the teaching of Swedish B-course in high school. Based on the model of critical Literacy I am arguing that this genre would help to meet the objectives of the policy documents which, among other things, are to critically examine and analyze various types of texts.I have found that some of these texts could be used for analyzing and critically examine the ideological dimensions of texts and cultural heritage by the model of critical Literacy, and also as a counterweight to the more traditional teaching of the canonical literature as a literary historical stuff that students should learn. I have also wanted to create a basis for discussions about literature in the classroom based on the chick lit genre. To do this I have, based on three themes and questions from the model of critical Literacy, tried to focus on issues that might emerge from the ideological analysis and critical review. IKT användning och digital kompetens : En studie om sju lärares IKT användning i historieundervisningen.
ICT and digital artifacts is an important resource in the society, especially in schools. That is why we have chosen to study if and how teachers uses ICT and other digital technology in their education in the history subject. We think that both subjects are important because history is a subject that has to do with the past, the present and the future.We made qualitative interviews with seven teachers from three different schools. We have analyzed if the teachers sees ICT as a burden or a resource in their education and also in which extend they have digital Literacy. We have chosen to discuss different authors view on ICT in the education and digital Literacy.

.The Whole language program is in Sweden generally referred to as ?Kiwimetoden? - ?the Kiwi program? (author?s direct translation) partly due to the fact that the Whole language program originates from New Zealand. Whole language is basically a Literacy program and approaches Literacy from a holistic point of view. Children learning to read and write should do so in the same natural way children learn to speak their native language which is in the context of authentic language as a whole. In Sweden the program is generally practiced together with a commercial and pre-organised material called ?kiwi? or ?Stjärnsvenska?.

Antologiers frågor och critical literacy. En studie av frågor och arbetsuppgifter till skönlitterära texter för grundskolans senare år
Syftet med studien är att undersöka i vilken mån ett urval arbetsuppgifter till skönlitterära texter i läroböcker skapar möjlighet för elever att nå de mål gällande skönlitteratur, som fastställts i läroplanen. Det empiriska underlaget består av de frågor som hör till totalt nio texter ur tre olika antologier för grundskolans senare del. Materialet har bearbetats med en innehållsanalys och analyserats dels utifrån ett receptionsteoretiskt perspektiv och dels utifrån begreppet Literacy, litteracitet. Resultatet visar att läroböckernas uppgifter ger eleverna möjlighet att träna flera olika kompetenser, eftersom olika typer av frågor erbjuds till de allra flesta texterna. Brister finns dock då det är en övervikt av frågor som tränar ytlig läsförståelse.

According to international and national Literacy studies (PISA, PIRLS) Swedish boys are inferior to Swedish girls when it comes to reading. There can be numerous reasons to that statement. One is that Swedish teachers require more knowledge about communication as an important component in Literacy. In spite of this shortcoming, Swedish girls manage to gain sufficient Literacy. Why is that? The aim of this survey was to examine if there were any differences between girls and boys regarding communication skills when they begin in school.The main questions taken in account were:Which differences and/or similarities in communication skills are discernible between boys and girls this particular preschool?How do boys and girls communicate with each other in different room contexts on this particular preschool? To be able to answer the questions, I adopted observations and audio recordings from children aged five.
Multimodalitet i klassrummet
The goal and purpose of this essay is to study if and how multimodality is used within a Swedish school in Kalmar. This is accomplished by observing the different modalities inside the classroom and how the use of different modalities affects the teaching. Unstructured observations combined with a material-based thematic presentation leads up to an analysis based on social semiotics and multimodality. The essay shows how the teaching uses lots of modalities: sound, images, movies, speeches and literary text in lots of different ways. These different types of modalities are used in a multimodal context, providing good conditions for learning..

The explosion of information technology has given users direct access to an ocean of information. Increased availability puts increasing demands on the ability of students and researchers to search for, filter, and structure information. In response, the role of the research library has shifted from being primarily an information resource to being an educational resource with a focus on teaching users what is known as information Literacy. This thesis is a study of user-education at the Karolinska Institute Library KIB, the largest medical library in the Nordic countries. KIB has invested significant resources in developing user-education, and has a full-time user-education developer and a formal pedagogical platform for user-education.
Förskoleklassen - den lustfyllda skolstarten? : En studie om pedagogers arbete med språk-, läs- och skrivutveckling i förskoleklass och årskurs 1
The aim of this study was to explore and describe how four teachers work with Literacy in preschool and grade one, ages 6 and 7. The aim was also to explore the progression of reading and writing as well as the collaboration between teachers in preschool and grade one. The study has a qualitative approach and data was collected through observations and interviews. The findings indicate that teachers in preschool have similar activities and approach to what guides the work. Regarding teachers in grade one it shows that they both are working with reading and writing in a varied way.
Var är biblioteket? En användarstudie om distansstudenters biblioteksbehov
The aim of this Master's thesis is to investigate the library needs of distance students. This user study has a student perspective and concentrates on the main question of which way library needs might be expressed by distance students. Associated topics addressed by this study include; the problem of learning centres lacking their own library support, how distance students look upon library support as a concept and whether distance students prefer public libraries or university libraries, and why they make this choice. These questions may give the answer to how distance students deal with information Literacy. Theories chosen by the study are in the fields of pedagogical and library science, the social cultural theory by Roger Säljö and in Tom Wilson's theories on user studies and information needs.
Estetiska lärprocessers betydelse för barns språkutveckling : En studie om pedagogers tankar kring bildskapande för att främja barns språkutveckling
This master thesis is based on the sociocultural perspective. A qualitative research study was conducted to investigate children's attitudes towards reading, texts and libraries.The theoretical background is constituted by ideas from the new sociology of childhood, Literacy-studies and reader-response theory.The study was conducted with 23 children, 13 girls and 10 boys, participating in focus groups.The results of the study reveal that children's Literacy-activities in school are strongly influenced and limited by adults. Children's interest in pictures and non-fiction-reading do not correspond to the school institution that favors traditional media and fiction. The study also reveals a gender division between children's Literacy-activities that tends to grow with age. All the children in the study regard libraries as book-houses and wished for libraries that combine activity and serenity.The thesis shows the importance of being aware of, and engage in, children's reading-interests and reading-practices if the reading stimulating activities in schools and libraries are to be successful.
