Syftet med denna uppsats är att ta reda på hur män respektive kvinnor framställs i tre svenska mattidningar: Elle Mat & Vin, Buffé samt Allt om Mat. Endast bildmaterial av redaktionell karaktär har undersökts. Detta har utförts med hjälp av kvantitativ innehållsanalytisk metod, där ett egenkonstruerat kodschema använts för att analysera det valda bildmaterialet.Uppsatsen tar sitt teoretiska avstamp i genusforskning på medier, med böcker av bland andra Linda Fagerström och Maria Nilson, Gunilla Jarlbro samt Kjell Nowak och Gunnar Andrén. Utöver de teorier som framförs av dessa författare har ett antal artiklar och uppsatser som behandlar genus och matlagningsprogram varit till hjälp.Huvudfrågeställning: På vilket sätt framställs kvinnor respektive män i bildmaterialet hos tidningarna Elle Mat & Vin/Buffé/Allt om Mat?Hypoteser:-    Män kommer i framställas i professionella sammanhang i högre grad än kvinnor, där deras yrke har en tydlig koppling till mat och matlagning. -          Kvinnor kommer i större utsträckning än män medverka i form av statist i bild- samt receptreportage.Efter genomförd analys kan uppsatsförfattaren konstatera att tidningarna till viss del reproducerar könsstereotypa bilder av kvinnor och män: kvinnorna som syns i tidningarna är fler än männen till antalet, men de förekommer klart oftare än männen inom kategorin statist i bildreportage..

Uppsatsen analyserar inkomstskillnader mellan högutbildade svenskfödda och utlandsfödda på den svenska arbetsmarknaden med hjälp av inkomstekvationer. Dataunderlaget kommer från ett tvärsnitt ur LINDA-databasen år 1999 och alla personer i dataunderlaget har genomgått en svensk universitets- eller högskoleutbildning. Två beroende inkomstvariabler finns med i dataunderlaget ? årsinkomst och månadslön ? för att studera tidsaspekten i inkomstskillnaderna. Det finns stora inkomstskillnader mellan svenskfödda och utlandsfödda för det totala urvalet (särskilt för urvalet baserat på årsinkomst).

Syftet med denna uppsats har varit att undersöka på vilket sätt attacker utförda av al-Qaida kanhänföras till begreppet asymmetri och på vilket sätt man kan tolka den amerikanska administrationensrespons på dessa som uttryck för ett linjärt tänkande. Vidare vill jag undersöka vilka svårigheter somkan uppstå i relationen mellan en linjär omvärldsuppfattning och asymmetriska metoder. För attuppfylla syftet med uppsatsen kommer tre av al-Qaidas attacker att studeras. Dessa är: attacken mot deamerikanska ambassaderna i Afrika, 1998, attacken mot USS Cole, 2000 och attacken 11 september,2001. Rapporterna från den amerikanska administrationen efter respektive attack kommer att utgöragrunden i mitt empiriska material.
