Varelsedesign : en metod
My aim in this case study has been to create a method for creature design to test this method in a production and evaluate the results. To achieve this I studied and analyzed the methods of three concept artists and illustrators named James Gurney, Neville Page and Iain McCaig. From the analysis of these artist´s methods, combined with my own personal experience, a new method was formed. To test this method a creature was designed based on directives given by a game design group in the process of creating a table top role playing game in a fictitious world. These directives where given for the creature´s role and its living conditions.

I dagens näringsliv är effektiv kommunikation och informationsutbyte mellan företag en förutsättning för verksamheten. Näringslivet utmärks av förändring; företag köps upp, företag slås samman, företag samarbetar i projektform. Behovet av att integrera varandras informationssystem står i paritet med ovanstående förändringar. Ett stort problem med systemintegration är variationsrikedomen mellan informationssystemen, beträffande teknisk plattform och programspråk. Webservices erbjuder metoder att enkelt integrera olika informationssystem med varandra.I rapporten beskrivs hur webservices implementeras och vilka tekniska komponenter som ingår, samt de fördelar som webservicetekniken ger.

This Master?s thesis is the first to quantitatively study the prevalence of library anxiety at a Swedish university. Library anxiety is a concept describing the negative feelings students can experience when using the library. The study was conducted using web questionnaires sent out to 512 students at Växjö university. 38 % responded and the results were analysed with the help of, amongst other methods, correlation studies.

In this master?s thesis the issue of animation with smooth skinning is migrated from being a GPU process to becoming a parallelized and 358% faster process. This method is incorporated in an existing commercial game engine and integrated in a currently in development title for the Playstation 3. Reflektion genom interaktion : En analys av förbindelsen mellan spelarens moraliska handlingar och karaktärernas utveckling i tv/datorspelet Dragon Age: Origins.
The aim of this essay is to investigate the function and development of non-player characters (NPC) in the TV/computer game Dragon Age: Origins. The NPCs are analysed in order to see if their development is affected by the player character?s (PC) background and interactions. The game?s ethics is also investigated by studying how the NPCs treat the PC and what significance they give to his background and actions.The results show that the NPCs are affected by the PC?s interactions, and furthermore, that they are round characters, which is unusual in TV/computer games.
PL/SQL till Java : Konvertering med verktyg
Den här rapporten hanterar ett uppdrag från företaget Logica gjort som ett examensarbete på utbildningen Högskoleingenjör inom Datateknik, programmet Webbutveckling/Programmering och datanät, på Tekniska Högskolan i Jönköping. Uppdraget gick ut på att kontrollera om ett system skrivet i programmeringsspråket PL/SQL går att konvertera till Java. Programmet i fråga var ett reskontrasystem.Syftet med projektet var att företaget skulle kunna konvertera deras system på ett så kostnadseffektivt och tidsbesparande sätt som möjligt. Frågor som rapporten har tagit upp är huruvida det finns konverteringsverktyg som kan göra detta och om i så fall det finns några ?Best-practises? angående detta.

Utveckling av olika typer av påbyggnadskod till programvaror blir allt vanligare. Dessa som går under samlingsnamnet plugins skiljer sig från vanliga applikationer då de har en annan struktur samt speciella beroenden till applikationsspecifika moduler. Problem uppstår när denna typ av utveckling inte stöds av de vanliga utvecklingsmiljöer som finns ute på företagen och delar som borde vara automatiserade måste utföras manuellt. Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur utvecklingsmiljön för Java på Sandvik IT Services kan anpassas för att stödja plugin-utveckling för IBM Lotus Notes. I denna studie undersöks skillnaden mellan plugin-utveckling och den vanliga Java-utvecklingen på företaget samt hur detta påverkar verktygen i utvecklingsmiljön.

Today, one of the foremost tools used by the library staff is the library catalogue search tools. It has come to our understanding that some library staff are dissatisfied with how the search tools works. The aim of this study is to illuminate the library staff's negative experiences of the search tools, and to present a basis for future discussion and development. To our help we have used a quantitative survey which were sent to library staff that used one of the two largest integrated library systems in Sweden, BOOK-IT and Mikromarc. The questions regarded the library staff's perception of a number of features in the search tools.

The purpose of this thesis is to explore the experiences and views some users have of the library environment and services of the University Library of Halmstad. The main question to be answered in this thesis is what importance the users attribute to the library environment and services while pursuing their most recent library errand. To answer this question a study of relevant literature on the subjects of library environment, library services and user-surveys in other academic libraries was carried out and a questionnaire was distributed to 22 respondents in the process of visiting the University of Halmstad Library. The literature background and the results of the conducted study were interpreted and discussed and led to the following conclusions: 3 respondents encounters with the library environment and its services were negative in part and thus their experiences and views were relevant to the completion of their library errands. The other respondents? encounters confirmed their overall positive earlier experiences and views of the library environment and its services, but had no real concrete significance for the completion of their library errands..
Exekveringsmiljö för Plex-C på JVM
The Ericsson AXE-based systems are programmed using an internally developed language called Plex-C. Plex-C is normally compiled to execute on an Ericsson internal processor architecture. A transition to standard processors is currently in progress. This makes it interesting to examine if Plex-C can be compiled to execute on the JVM, which would make it processor independent. The purpose of the thesis is to examine if parts of the run-time environment of Plex-C can be translated to Java and if this can be done so that sufficient performance is obtained.
Konstruktion av webbaserat SMS-system med Bluetooth teknik : Jämförelse mellan programspråk för Bluetooth applikation i Windows XP
Behovet av tillgänglighet på kommunikation innebär att vi idag har krav på att meddelanden som skrivs över webben inte bara når oss via en dator utan även till våra mobiltelefoner. Målet med examensarbetet har varit att genom litteraturstudie och intervjuer konstruera ett webbaserat SMS-system som kan användas till att sända SMS textmeddelande till en godtycklig mobiltelefonenhet. Meddelande som sänds ska även lagras i databas och administreras via webbsidan. En jämförelse har även genomförts där syftet har varit att undersöka bäst lämpat programspråk för Bluetooth applikation. Metoden har grundat sig på kriterier.
Servicekvalitet på Göteborgs stadsbibliotek utifrån dyslektikers perspektiv
The aim of this paper is to examine how dyslectic adults define the service quality at the public library of Gothenburg. The purpose is also to investigate what level of service quality the library provides and which responsibilities the library has towards the dyslectics. Answers are sought to the following questions: - How do dyslectics perceive the service quality at the public library of Gothenburg and is that service quality satisfactory? - What responsibilities does the public library of Gothenburg have towards the dyslectics according to cultural policy documents? In this paper six persons have been interviewed. Of these, four are adult dyslectics, one works with people with special demands and the last one is the chief librarian.

The aim of this study is to understand how the library environment affects the experiences and feelings of public library users. In order to concretise this, the study sets out from the public library in Bollebygd. We wanted to find out how the library users experience the library environment. Does the library environment affect the meeting between library users? How does the environment affect their moving patterns inside the library? Which environmental factors influence the users' experiences? Our questions were: how do users experience the library environment - as a mediating space for information and culture? - as a social room and meeting place? The material used to attain the purpose of the study consists of qualitative observations and interviews, and literature studies.

In this Masters thesis the image of the public library in the local press and in the eyes of the public is examined. The questions posed to examine this are: - What activities of the public library are described in the local press? - What activities does the public associate with the public library? - What functions and roles of the public library can be found in the articles and interviews and how are they expressed? - What opinions of the public library and hereto related activities can be found in the articles and interviews? This study is based on an analysis of 127 articles, published in Borås Tidning during a period of six months, and of interviews with 35 people from Sjuhäradsbygden. To analyse the articles and the interviews Marianne Andersson and Dorte Skot-Hansen´s model of roles for the library has been used. The model includes four roles for the library: the library as a cultural centre, a knowledge centre, an information centre and a social centre.
Undersökning om spelares uppfattning om latency i realtidsstrategispel
In this study we examine how much latency is required in an RTS-game (Real-Time Strategy) before the player quits the game. In the study latency is simulated in the games Age of Mythology and Starcraft: Brood War with the program WANem, and then the testplayers are asked ?Do you want to quit because of latency??. This data is then gathered and compiled into graphs to show the results. These results show that the limit for when players want to quit differs between the two games and that there are two factors that play into this.
