Denna utredning har gjorts för att genomlysa en teknik som går under namnet JavaTM 2 Micro Edition (J2METM). Vårt mål var att grundligt belysa tekniken och tanken bakom J2ME samt att visa på för- respektive nackdelar med tekniken avseende prestanda och säkerhet. Ett annat mål med utredningen var att visa på praktisk användbarhet av Java i mobiltelefoner och konsekvenser på den mobila infrastrukturen. J2ME är en plattform skapad för att tillmötesgå behoven från den snabbt växande marknaden av produkter som försetts med processorkraft. Dessa datoriserade enheter är mindre än traditionella bordsdatorer och har därmed en annan typ av fysiska begränsningar i form av t.ex.

The aim of this study is to examine how teenage boysperceive the public library. How do they utilize the resourcesprovided by a public library? What are their thoughtsregarding what a public library offers in terms of services toits visitors? Four qualitative interviews with teenage boyswere done for the purpose of this study. This master's thesis asks two main questions concerning the history of the City and UniversityLibrary of Gothenburg: what was the prevailing view of the library and its role? Whateconomic support did the library receive and from whom?By critically examining extensive source material mainly from the library archives and cityand state records, these conclusions are drawn: the City and University Library was regardedas a purely scientific library by all involved except the state as early as the 1920s. The state didnot express this view until 1946. The support came almost exclusively from the city ofGothenburg, the state not extending support on a larger scale until 1946 and then onlysporadically. The widely-held view of the library as a scientific one was ignored by the statein its repeated refusals to grant the library support both before and after 1946.

Avdelningen Nuklearmedicin på Gävle sjukhus har problem med att deras befintliga ?Radiofarmakaregister? inte fungerar på Windows 7, som de håller på att uppgradera till. Därför har Gävle sjukhus utlyst ett examensarbete med syftet att lösa problemet med att programmet inte fungerar på Windows 7. Det här projektet gick ut på att utveckla ett nytt program från grunden med de krav sjukhuset ställde. Det nya programmet utvecklades i programmeringsspråket Java.

The purpose of this study was to find out what different groups of visitors do when they are at Borås City Library. Three issues were formulated from the purpose and they were: What do users do when they visit the City Library in Borås? What occupations do those who visit the library have? What similarities and differences are there in the use of the library depending on the visitors? occupations? To answer these questions a questionnaire was handed out among the visitors at Borås City Library. The theory that was used when the material was analyzed comes from the book?Gør biblioteket en forskel?? and the book is written by Henrik Jochumsen and Casper Hveneegaard Rasmussen.

This Master's thesis concerns the public library as a public meeting place. Our aim has been to find out why and how the library as a social meeting place has been discussed within the Swedish library community and if there has been a constant core in the discussions from the mid 70's and up to the present day. In order to do this we apply a place and space-perspective. The result of the study is that the core of the said discussions concerning the library as a meeting place is to create belongingness. This is the reason why the library community has an interest in the public library's function as a meeting place with the idea that people, by using the public library in that aspect, may experience a feeling of belonging to the society.

I min rapport presenterar jag en fältundersökning för att hitta olika lösningar för att behandla realtidsvideo. De programmeringsgränssnitt som det främst riktar sig till är Matlab och Java. Rapporten är tänkt att ge vägledning och fungera som en guide för dem som önskar arbeta med enklare former av realtidsbehandling av video. Jag kommer dels att gå igenom rena Matlab- och javalösningar och dels visa hur olika tekniker kan kombineras för att åstadkomma ytterligare tekniker för att behandla realtidsvideo. The purpose of this master's thesis is to describe and analyse the origin and development of the library of Workers´ Educational Association in the community of Oskarström. This library is special because the organisation run it much longer than usual, until 1977, and to find an answer to why, we have the following questions: Why does the library of Workers´ Educational Association start their activity in Oskarström, and how does it develop, in relation to premises, librarians, financing, the stock of books and the numbers of books out on loan? What is the reason that the library in Oskarström is municipalized as late as 1977? The methods we use are hermeneutics and evaluation of the sources. The library is founded in 1914 and become important for the workers. Important sources of income are the subventions given by the state, municipality and other associations.

När en recessiv sjukdom studeras i en släkt används jämförelser av familjemedlemmarnasarvsmassa. Med hjälp av datorsimuleringar som utgår från modellering av arvsförloppet kan information erhållas om hur mycket arvsmassa individerna har gemensamt.Denna information kan vara till nytta vid en fysisk kartläggning av individernas genom.I detta projekt har ett Java-program konstruerats som på ett verklighetsnära sättmodellerar arvsförloppet. Tillsammans med Java-programmet har ett mer teoretisktresonemang genomförts och implementerats i MATLAB, i syfte att få referensdata.Java-programmet har använts för att undersöka den genetiska likheten mellan besläktadeindivider. Informationen som erhållits har använts för att approximera fördelningarför individernas genetiska likhet. Utifrån dessa uppskattningar fastslås att fördelningarnahar relativt låg varians på grund av genomets extensiva totala genetiska längd.Det konstateras att individernas könskromosomer bidrar med skillnader i medelvärde.Dessutom fastställs att mäns och kvinnors olika genetiska längder bidrar med skillnaderi varians..

When the Tranemo library moved to new localities in 1991 there were also some changes made to make the library more user-friendly. The purpose of this essay is to see how a useroriented change can be done and how it has been perceived by members of the library staff and the library users.This is done by the following means:l) interviews with members of the library staff,2) a questionnaire to the users in Tranemo,3) a comparative questionnaire to users of the libraries in Skara and Lerum.The comparison was concentrated on how the library presents its material. The result of this comparison shows that even though there is a difference among the three libraries, the difference is small and it is impossible to say for sure that it has anything to do with the changes that have been done. The interviews and questionnaire in Tranemo give a positive picture of that library..

The aim of this two-year masters thesis is to look for the Swedish public library´s core business, using theories about competence. The approach is qualitative. It is done by studying the Unesco Public Library Manifesto, the Swedish library legislation, the education in library and information science, two important Swedish library related journals and by asking public librarians about their work and point of view regarding competence.The research shows mainly two sides of the core competence of public librarians: information technology competence and literature knowledge. The conclusion is that the two meet in the idea of mass education, which could therefore be called the Swedish public library´s core business..

This paper deals with the difficulties of applying user-centered design practices as an independent developer, based on the visualization of a game concept in the form of a prototype. The aim is to evaluate the usability of user-centered design practices, specifically in the field of games development. Throughout this paper, I will give an account of the methods used for testing, as well as a review of previous research done in this field of study. The main object of this master thesis is to examine whether domain-analysis could be used toorganize the collections in a library serving interdisciplinary studies, and in that case - howthat could be done. The thesis is based on a case study of a library for Asian studies, which alsoserves as a library specialized in that subject in the Nordic countries. The purpose of this report has been to develop an administrative web interface. The web interface is to be used by the company Zidango and it is going to make it easier for them in their daily work of running a web portal. The interface had to be developed so it would fit in Zidangos web portal. This meant the work had to be done in the framwork Struts and mostly in JAVA. Thereforeis a shorter theory chapter included in the report that discusses frameworks.

The subject of this master thesis is the school library and how we find its potential unutilized. We look at this problem in connection to the democratic assignment that the Swedish school has. The purpose is to elucidate what the democratic assignment consists of and to establish the role that the school library ought to have in this assignment. To describe the democratic assignment we examine and interpret the documents that regulate school and library activities today, including UNESCO/IFLA School Library Manifesto and United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. We use critical ideology analysis because we consider democracy to be a sort of ideology and have a critical view of how the school library is used or rather not used in school.
