E-boken, den välkomna besökaren ? Fyra nya strategier för e-boken på folkbibliotek
The purpose of this thesis was to figure out the feelings that Librarians felt towards the e-books at the library. And if it affects their work at the library, especially from a financial point of view. The reason I decided to do this study is because the subject of e-books has become bigger in the last couple of years, and that I got the feeling that the Librarians didn?t like them that much. So I did six interviews with six different Librarians from different libraries to see if they felt the same thing or if they are in fact positive towards them. The results I received from my study were that the Librarians are positive to the e-book.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to examine how Librarians in a Swedish public library view and discuss mediation of fiction. How do they express that they relate and should relate to their users? The theoretical starting-points are three categories extracted from Jofrid Karner Smidt?s doctor?s dissertation Mellom elite og publikum: the approach to users, strategies for mediation, and ideals for mediation. The empirical material was gathered through focus group interviews with Librarians in a public library.
Bibliotekarie på 2000-talet. En studie av bibliotekariens förändrade yrkesroll och professionalism.
The aim of this Masters thesis is to examine the role of librarian in order to illustrate how the Librarians work, how their competence and education have changed and developed during the last decade, and ultimately to see what the role of librarian looks like in the 21^st century. After describing the Librarians work, competence and education in the 21^st century, we discuss whether or not the changes that have arisen during the last decennium have affected the possibilities for Librarianship to develop into an accepted profession. The method of investigation is a qualitative analysis of printed sources. As a basis of the discussion and analysis Andrew Abbotts theory of professions is used. We also use Per Tengblads analysis model, which includes six important steps in analysing the professionalism of an occupation.

Biblioteket är till för användarna. En studie av folkbibliotekariers syn på bibliotekarieetik
The main purpose of this master thesis is to explore a selection of Swedish Librarians view of professional ethics. The latest master thesis written on the subject was published in 1997, which concluded that the Swedish public Librarians had a poor awareness concerning professional ethics. We wanted to investigate if something had changed. We interviewed six Librarians from five public libraries, asking them questions concerning ethical guidelines, responsibility, censorship and selection, pressure from lobbyists, and ethical problems relating to Internet. The answers we got gave the impression of a divided profession, and the librarian?s awareness of professional ethics can hardly be said to have been improved since 1997.

Identity and vocation.AbstractThe aim of this Master's thesis is to investigate the professional identity of Children's Librarians in order to contribute to a deeper understanding to the professions of Librarians. Using a qualitative method was the best way to gain an understanding for the participant's own experiences of their professional identity.

Bibliotekarien som distansarbetare? : förutsättningar för bibliotekarien att utföra sina funktioner på distans
We studied how Librarians would adapt to telework, the performance of job responsibilitiesfrom home. We found'that all duties could be accomplished. but to varied extents.Computerbased searches, interlibrary loans, acquisitions, indexing and telephone referenceservices are the duties most likely to adapt to telework whereas cataloguing andclassification probably are best performed in the ordinary workplace. Most duties would demand access to technical means of assistance when performed fromhome. Connections to the library's local network, directly or via modem, are requiredbecause it is unrealistic to expect Librarians to telework with fewer tools than theyordinarily have available. Although Librarians generally believe that teleworking will nothave a large irnpact on the operation of the library, most would like to telework.Whether teleworking is a viable strategy depends on the characteristics of the duties, thelibrarian's desire to telework, but also on the size of the library, the size of its staff, thelibrary's activities, and how work is distributed between Librarians..

Det digitala skolbiblioteket. En möjlighet för utveckling av såväl verksamhet som yrkesroll?
The aim of this paper is to study if implementation of a school library management system called FreeLib has created favourable conditions for the school Librarians to cooperate with other professions and become a more forward working place. I have studied relevant literature about school libraries, organisation, digital libraries and documents that regulate school and library activities today as well in the past. In order to fulfil my purpose I have done a qualitative survey with six school Librarians from Swedish primary schools with pupils at the age of 6 -16 years old. To identify strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities I found in the material I used a method called SWOT analysis. According to this study the use of the digital FreeLib system has developed a better teamwork between school Librarians at different schools.
