This study has investigated the possibilities of implementing lean in a division of a hospital in Stockholm. The goal was to reduce the lead time for the patient to get his diagnose by implementing lean in the two production flows of this division. In order to accomplish it, a complete map over the value stream has been done. With the help of the value stream map and lean theory a list over the processes in contradiction with lean has been made. Finally propositions to implement lean and by this way reduce the lead times in this stream have been made out.

SammanfattningExamensarbetet har utförts under 2012/2013 och är en avslutande del i vår utbildning inom industriell ekonomi.Vi har valt att fördjupa oss i Lean och se hur vi kan få in denna metod och ?tankar? i den administrativa delen av akademin. Lean används idag inom många olika sektorer och är en erkänd förbättringsmetod vars syfte är att skapa nya smarta och utvecklande sätt att utföra sina arbetsuppgifter på. Dessutom ska det vara gynnsamt för medarbetarna som arbetar i detta och verksamheten som helhet.På administrationsavdelningen på ingenjörshögskolan i Borås finns intresset av att se vilka möjligheter Lean kan medföra för en särskild process. Denna process önskar de få förtydligad och förhoppningen är att eliminera riskerna för fel och missförstånd.

Problem: How is Lean, a production-focused model being applied to non-productive focused industries.Purpose: To examine how Lean has been applied to the department of Turbuhaler-Kvalitetskontroll and which parts have been successfully applied.Problem statement: How does the implementation of Lean?s basic concept, which originated in the car industry, differentiate itself from the implementation of Lean in the pharmaceutical industry, in this case the department of Turbuhaler-Kvalitetskontroll at AstraZeneca.Conclusions: The department has had success in its implementation of lean. They have developed and modified the basic concept in order to apply it and excluded the parts they did not consider necessary. Through their work they have accomplished numerous improvements in, among other things, the reduction of lead time. .

The aim of this case study was to investigate the role of leadership and interpersonal relations among staff during implementation of lean at a University Hospital in Sweden. The 15 respondents were leaders and staff members from different wards and clinics, who had started working according to lean principles. One of the methods used was explorative, low structured interviews. Other methods used for gathering information about the case was attending lectures about lean healthcare at the hospital, part-taking in the lean game and reading articles about lean and the implementation in both daily press and on the intranet of the hospital. The results showed that an open and accessible leader that coaches his/her staff and supports their work, helps the staff to develop a lean identity.

In the last decades, lean production has proven to be one of the most important organizational paradigms in manufacturing. Today, the management concept of lean has stretched far from its origins in the Japanese automobile industry. When reaching the Swedish restaurant industry, the conditions for a successful implementation of lean change as a result of the high employee turnover and the significant amount of part-time employees characteristic for the industry. Combined with a high-end service profile, these workforce characteristics seem inconsistent with some of the basic principles of lean. By conducting a case study, this thesis aims to investigate the effects of a variable workforce on the enablers for a successful implementation of lean in a high-end service industry. Using a theoretical framework consisting of enablers for an implementation of lean in services, the study finds that the variable workforce inhibits an implementation of lean by complicating the effects of traditional training, as well as the possibility of understanding the lean concept at all levels of the organization.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att se hur effektiva metoder och resurshantering påverkaroffentliga förvaltningar i Borås. Vi för även en diskussion om hur implementeringen avstyrmodeller såsom Lean har för inverkan på förvaltningarna. Uppsatsen har genomförts medutgångspunkt från valda teorier samt intervjuer med administratörer anställda på offentligaförvaltningar i Borås. Detta för att få ett medarbetarperspektiv på hur effektivitets- ochresurshanteringstänket har yttrat sig för de och deras arbetsplatser.De offentliga förvaltningarna som valt att införa styrmodeller såsom Lean i sina verksamheterhar blivit mer kostnadseffektiva och resurssnåla. Swedish agricultural businesses are facing challenges in order to achieve long-term profitability. The opportunity to improve profitability and efficiency on farm level may be enhanced by management. One way to work with leadership is to use Lean. It is a management system that aims to improve competitiveness. Currently, there is a project where Lean is implemented into 100 agricultural firms.

The emergency medical care in Sweden has been under persistent debate, due to factors such as long waiting hours, inefficient patient flow, and understaffed departments. In an effort to meet the critique and with a willingness to improve the problems, an increasing amount of emergency clinics are adopting theories and models within Lean. Positive outcomes are evident, there has been some criticism directed towards Lean. Among these is the argument that in order for Lean to be successful it needs to be used within standardized and foreseeable processes, and that it therefore only is applicable to those kind of processes found within industrial production. This prompted the question of whether Lean was a suitable strategy within emergency medical care, considering the large variation of patients and non-foreseeable processes that in fact share little resemblance to that of industrial production.

En av de senaste kommersiella modellerna som nu införs i den svenska sjukvården är Lean Healthcare,som är sjukvårdens version av Toyotas produktionsfilosofi Lean Production. En stor del avtidigare forskning på området har behandlat Lean Production men lite finns att tillgå som handlar om Lean Healthcare.
