Varför byter substantiv genus? Genus är i indoeuropeiska språk en semantisk nominalklassificering som är formellt implicerad. Detta innebär att varje genus har en semantisk kärna som tenderar att uttryckas genom ändelser hos substantivet (men bekräftas genom dess dependenter). Orsakerna till genusbyten kan således tänkas vara både semantiska och formella: de kan byta genus till följd av association till andra ord med ett visst genus inom samma semantiska sfär, men de kan också anta ett genus i association till andra ord med samma ändelse. I denna undersökning har 170 latinska högfrekventa substantiv i deklinationsklass III jämförts diakront med de moderna romanska språken franska, italienska, spanska och portugisiska.

The purpose of my study was to visualize how teachers works with multilingual children in pre-school, the methods used to stimulate and develop primary and secondary language and how teachers does see second languages development with the help of the primary language. The study consists of qualitative methods in form of interviews which are made with four teachers who work within the pre-school. The findings during the collection of data (interviews) are going to be connected to the relevant literature on the subject I have chosen.The result showed that the concrete materials are used to stimulate and develop primary- as the secondary language and that the teachers have different opinions on secondary languages development with the help of primary language even if the primary language seems to be an important asset of all teachers that I interviewed..

I det här arbetet tar jag upp vad det finns för slang i Norrköping. Jag jämför slangord mellan fyra generationer i en undersökning som består av en enkätdel, där informanterna har fått svara skriftligt och en muntlig intervjudel som utgår ifrån svaren på enkäten. Jag har här intervjuat grupper där män är för sig och kvinnor för sig, fyra stycken ifrån varje kön och generation. Totalt är det 32 stycken informanter. De är födda i Norrköping eller inflyttade några få år efter födseln.

Syftet med detta arbete är att beskriva hur och varför drama används i språkinlärning, samt att se på ämnet som en inlärningsmetod utifrån teorier om inlärning och dramapedagogik. Inledningsvis förklaras dramapedagogikens innebörd och syftet med dess användning. Därefter ger jag en historisk bakgrund om dramat och dess användning i skolan och vid andra undervisningstillfällen. Därpå följer en presentation hur drama berikar dagens språkinlärning. Arbetet består av en litteraturdel och en undersökningsdel.

This Masters thesis concerns how library and preschool can cooperate in supporting childrens language development and especially that of bilingual children. We have investigated how librarians and preschool teachers different competences can complement each other to gain the best result in work with childrens language development. This study is based on qualitative interviews with four librarians and three preschool teachers. The answers from them have been analysed according to different categories. Our results show that both librarians and preschool teachers think that bilingual children need extra support and that it takes longer to learn two languages.

Syfte med den här uppsatsen är att jämföra karaktärerna i romanen och filmen Sandor slash Ida för att komma åt vilka möjligheter som finns när det gäller karaktärsskildring i de olika medierna. Frågeställningen är enligt följande: ? Skiljer sig huvudkaraktärerna åt mellan romanen och filmen, och i så fall på vilka sätt?För att kunna svara frågeställningen användes underfrågor för att kunna uppnå syftet med uppsatsen:? Hur lär vi känna huvudkaraktärerna i romanen respektive filmen när det gäller känslor, humör, deras sociala roll och andras förväntningar på dem?Förhoppningen är att resultatet av uppsatsarbetet också ska bli något som kan användas i rollen som gymnasielärare, i framtida undervisningssituationer, exempelvis för att diskutera filmatisering av romaner eller karaktärsskildringar i romaner och filmer..

The underlying purpose of this study is to see whether a library focused solely on providing literature in other languages than Swedish serves as a unifying, integrating force, or as an agent for division and exclusion. The study focuses on the International Library in Stockholm. The authors have created a profile of the visitors of the selected library, concerning their characteristics, their library habits and their perceptions of the International library. This profile has then been compared with the staff?s perception of the visitors as a group.

The aim for this paper has been to examine three textbooks designed for science education in upper secondary school in order to determine whether they convey any specific attitudes regarding what is considered to be ideal knowledge within the field of biology. The main focus has been to investigate if different types of design strategies have been used to emphasize certain values or attitudes and if this proves to be the case, how is this achieved specifically?                      For this purpose I have conducted several different qualitative linguistic analyses of the textbooks. The theoretical framework for the analyses lies within the main field of critical linguistics and more specifically in the context of systemic functional linguistics. The two main language models I have chosen to use for my investigations are functional grammar and multimodal text analysis.                      My results imply amongst other things that by conducting an overall assessment of the headlines in the textbooks a fair assessment can be made of which overall attitudes the books convey.

The following thesis will examine how a smaller library manages the prioritization of media between Swedish and 'minority language'. We are also interested in the challenges and problems that can occur in such work, as well as how the librarians think about their role in the integration process. We have studied this through several qualitative interviews with librarians as well as earlier related research. The results show that librarians display a high propensity of appreciation related to working with minority languages and consider this an important aspect of their profession ? they fully ingratiate and accept the importance of helping the immigrant population in learning Swedish.

This study focus on how two local news papers in the northen part of Sweden reported about the investigation of illegal hunting, called Kalixhärvan, in the years of 1983-1984. The study also adress how this newspapers presented the agents that is mentioned in the newsarticles, who played an importent part during the investigation. The study is based on the analysis of eight articles involving the investigation. The aricales is selected from march 1983 to march 1984. The analys is made using the method of critical linguistics and with the theoretical ground in theories of masculinity and stereotypes.

This thesis focuses on Chinese?Swedish code-switching of bilingual children in Sweden. The purpose is to, through a case study, study what Chinese?Swedish code-switching looks like in daily conversations between bilingual children and their parents. Three main questions are formulated from the purpose of the thesis, foucusing on the types and frequencies of code-switching, the grammar of code-switching, and the motivation of code-switching.The linguistic material comes from voice recordings of naturally occurring conversations between three children and their parents, which are transcribed afterwards.

Detta examensarbete består av utvalda delar av en översättning av en hemsida tillhörande Kambodjamäklarna samt en analys av de delar av översättningen som varit problematiska i arbetet. I analysdelen presenterar jag först källtexten i form av en källtextanalys, sedan följer en djupanalys av hur jag har överfört juridiska termer som kanske har en annan eller något annorlunda betydelse på källspråket än vad den har på målspråket. Målet med översättningen var att källtextens samtliga delar skulle anpassas till den nya svenska mottagargruppen. För att detta skulle uppnås krävdes det att jag använde mig av dels en målspråksorienterad översättningsstrategi, dels en källspråksorienterad översättningsstrategi. Resultatet av analysen visar att det för flertalet av de undersökta termerna krävs en förklaring för att klargöra att det föreligger en viss begreppsskillnad mellan källspråkets och målspråkets termer..

The overall aim of this thesis is to contribute to the understanding of how the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) presents discourse views and multilingualism. This is of importance, due to the impact the European Council?s education collaboration has on the Swedish syllabus for languages. The research perspective of the thesis is to solely focus on discourse views and multilingualism: comparing two analytic frameworks, by applying a qualitative text analysis. The first being based on two different models of discourse strategies and the latter based on two studies on how multilingualism is treated in Scandinavian school situations.

Within the Swedish school and the public library communities it is generally held as a truth that reading of fiction develops the empathic ability of the reader. This opinion is also expressed in political guiding documents for the school system and cultural sector. This paper's main hypothesis is that there is no assembled theoretic ground for the statement that reading of fiction develops the empathic ability. The investigation consists of two parts, the first being theoretical and the second empirical. Definitions of what empathy and reading is, are reviewed in the first part.
