As the number of inhabitants increases, the cities expand into the former rural landscape. The urbanization causes changes to the functioning of the peri-urban fringe. Land that previously was used for agricultural production is now used for alternative enterprises, as for example horse keeping and recreation. 75 % of all horses (approx. 200 000) are situated in the peri-urban fringe.

Logistics planning for a construction site is usually limited by traffic flow to and from the workplace. The geographical location of the construction site is determined by roads around the workplace and opportunities for well-functioning logistics. We are living in a multicultural society where people from other countries and other cultures are coming to Sweden, including children. Regardless of reasons why these students have come to Sweden, it is common that they are newly arrived and have to learn a second language, in this case Swedish. This will be a challenge, opportunities and difficulties for the student, students? families and for the school and their staff.The purpose of this essay has been to illumine the teaching methods, models and what materials are used by teachers today to contribute to the best possible second language learning for newly arrived students. In this essay the focus has been on one theory and several model-based approaches.

In order to respond to a more complex community planning with increased cooperation and public participation, a common language and a common model to be used as a base for the communication process is needed. The thesis behind this dissertation for a master's degree is that a virtual 3D planning portal would respond to this need. Why and how are explained and described through studies of communication- and perception theory as well as technology and recent research. The introduction concludes that a broad participation and a transparence towards underlying information are important foundations for the coming work with the model. I denna studie studeras rekordårens betydelse som historiebärare och kulturmiljö i förhållande till nutida stadsbyggnadsförändringar för att tillmötesgå 2010-talets ideal om en tät och stadsmässig boendemiljö. Value stream mapping is a tool that is frequently used by many different companies. It is a great tool used to achieve the work that follows the theories of lean production. The tool is used, however, only frequent on the factory floor and the method is also designed based on this type of use.An interest of applying the method on administrative parts of the company has occurred lately. Administrative parts of the company refers to the part that does all the planning such as purchasing, receiving orders, customer contact, contact with factory floor and other work that is made around the actual manufacturing. But the knowledge about applying value stream mapping on the planning part of the company is lacking because the method is relatively new.In this work, a comparison is made between the introduction of value stream analysis on production and planning.

Research has shown that students with another mother tongue than Swedish terminate elementary school with lower grades in all subjects, compared to students having Swedish as a mother tongue. This fact justifies further research on the forms of teaching Swedish as a second language. Attention has been given to the fact that the students with another mother tongue than Swedish have to cope with "dual learning". Parallel to the learning of a second language they need to obtain knowledge in all other subjects. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how the School organise the work with students having another mother tongue than Swedish, and to find out how teachers in other subjects solve the problem of having students that struggle with "dual learning".

Crisis management planning is a relatively new policy area in the European countries. It has materialized since the fall of the iron curtain and because of the increased interest to prevent wide-ranging national emergencies. In Sweden, the county administrative board has a key obligation to perform risk analysis guidelines. The aim of this study is to contribute to a better understanding of the syllable as an alternative to the phoneme at the basic reading and writing. This report is based on a qualitative analysis of Håkanstorp school´s approach to the basic reading and writing in class. Their approach to reading and writing is controversial, as it is based on the syllable instead of the phoneme, as usual in the traditional reading and writing. The education result, I have found, is that the syllable leads to a very clear and structured working procedure, which ultimately leads to class teachers being able to work from a diagnostic approach. This structure, with many parts of the course helps educators to clearly follow what level students are at.

Jämställdhet låter bra ? men vad är det egentligen vi planarkitekter ska göra? Det finns idag stor kunskap om jämställdhetsarbete och riktlinjer för hur detta arbete bör bedrivas. Samtidigt har inte implementeringen inom planeringsprofessionen utvecklats i någon större omfattning. Frågan är varför det inte har skett, samt hur planarkitekter kan integrera jämställdhetsaspekter i sitt arbete. The purpouse of this study is to find out how and if a Content Managment System (CMS) can benefit from applied User Experience Design (UX). A work project has been executed where a client wanted the students to create a user friendly CMS for adding content to a global hotel review site. The purpose of this study was to investigate the English writing activities of young Swedes on the site FanFiction.net to determine what type of differences were perceived between this activity and the writing activities taking place in upper secondary English courses, what effects fan fiction had on their English skills as well as what possibilities were perceived in regards to using fan fiction as a tool of learning. Methods used include an interview study along with a textual analysis to determine changes in grammatical complexity, errors and mistakes. Results indicate that partaking in fan fiction-related communities of practice in English can potentially improve language skills. Results also showed that informants valued interaction and practical language use, largely perceiving the formal teaching of English as lacking in opportunities for practical, contextually relevant and creative language use. However, introducing fan fiction and its practices of peer-reviewing in a formal educational setting was also perceived as risky, at the same time as there existed a sense of optimism that the fan fiction format and its practices could both be used to facilitate learning..

Typically, when Faurecia in Torsås are planning a new assembly line, one of the steps is to build a full-scale model of the line in card board, a form of mock-up planning. Faurecia has shown interest in finding an alternative methodology. The purpose was to explore the possibility of replacing today's cardboard based mock-up planning with models in a digital simulation environment.The purpose of the thesis has been to answer some of these complex questions; What are the benefits of using a simulation tool? In what way can we use it? If we choose to use a simulation tool, in what way does it affect our way of planning an assembly line? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Are there any economical and social aspects?Our results made us realize that a digital simulation tool does not replace the card board. On the other hand simulation could be used as a complement.
