Glimmingehus is one of the most well preserved medieval castles in Sweden. This essay examines why it was built ? what were the intentions of the Lord, Jens Holgersen? Even though we?ll never be able to ask him, the answer to the question ?why?? can give us aninsight of how a man of his position thought in the Late Medieval time. To answer the question the castle are explored through three different angles ? the Lord of the castle and thesocial context the castle was built in, the landscape surrounding Glimmingehus ? has Jens Holgersen left any structural clues there, and finally the castle itself ? how has a potential visitor experienced Glimmingehus? The methods are greatly influenced by Gunhild Eriksdotter, who in her book Bakom fasaderna explores the possibilities of an analysis ofexperience together with an analysis of function in the archaeology of buildings.

In this work I have tried to reconstruct the forest history within Särna-Idre forest common in northern Dalarna from the 19th century until present time. The Särna-Idre region has been an extensively used landscape for a long time. Pollen which indicates grazing has been found in samples orginating from the 10th century. Early travellers from the 18th and 19th centuries seem to have been passing trough a "used" landscape. Burned forests on naked ground are described as common. Also large areas are mentioned as undisturbed with lots of large trees, snags and dead wood.

Som en avslutande del i utbildningen ?Samhällsbyggnad - samhällsplanering? vid Luleå tekniska universitet skall ett examensarbete genomföras. Då ett flertal kurser innefattande CAD under utbildningens gång genomförts samt i och med ett stort eget intresse av detsamma kändes det för mig naturligt att genomföra ett examensarbete i någon mening omfattande konstruktion i CAD.Detta examensarbete har genomförts i uppdrag för Lindbäcks Bygg AB i syfte att förbättra den i dagsläget något ineffektiva arbetsmetodik som vid framtagning av ritningar används. Huvudmålet med arbetet har varit att ta fram en manual över ett alternativt, förhoppningsvis bättre, tillvägagångssätt i den arbetsgång som projektörerna utför. Det verktyg som främst använts för att skapa metodiken är ?annotation scaling?, ett verktyg vilket syftar till att koppla modell till ritning genom skalfaktorer.

Klimatet är i ständig förändring. Genom historien har det skett stora temperaturväxlingar och vad man kan se idag är att medeltemperaturen på jorden ökar, samt att dramatiska vädersituationer verkar bli allt vanligare. Klimatet förändras naturligt men våra utsläpp av växthusgaser bidrar med att ytterligare förstärka denna trend. De förändringar som vi ser idag förutspås eskalera i framtiden. Ökade medeltemperaturer leder till att glaciärer successivt smälter och det kan komma att innebära dramatiskt förändrade landskapsbilder. Havsytenivån höjs och kustnära- och låglänta områden riskerar att svämmas över.

Ruins and derelict places have since long fascinated and attracted humans. With my starting point in the wild vegetation and the spontaneous activities taking place on derelict land and in industrial ruins, I explore with help from the theoretical sociology, what creates not only this fascination but also fear. The purpose of the thesis is to explore and exemplify how the industrial ruin as a place outside the restrictions and control as well as design intentions of modern society can be used as an inspiration in a Landscape architecture context.The modern city consists of areas and places with a well defined purpose. A piece of derelict land or a disused building is instead ambiguous, undefined and open for new purposes. However described in negative terms, these placesare often perceived as places of mystery and magic.

From the pre-Roman and Roman Iron Age, a number of different fossil agrarian landscapes can be found in southern Sweden - clearance cairn areas, celtic fields, stone-wall complexes and geometrically laid-out strip fields. With two different comparative analyses, this paper tries to explain some of the differences between clearance cairn systems and the other fossil field systemsThe shape of the early Iron Age agrarian landscape varies between different provinces of southern Sweden. At Gotland, celtic field systems were laid-out before 500 BC. In Småland at the same time, areas with clearance cairns were created. How can the difference be explained? The different physical appearance of clearance cairn areas and celtic fields can be explained by the different ways to handle the ard in till and in sandy soil.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate and analyse the private researchers encounter with the Royal Library, national library of Sweden. The main focus is on answering the two questions: who is the private researcher and what is his/her impression of the Royal Library? These questions are answered from the vantage point of the following theoretical perspectives: library anxiety, Bourdieu, library architecture, gender studies and service management. The methods used are qualitative interviews, and textual analysis using the printout of these taped interviews along with notes and an earlier user study as material. The conclusions are that barriers with staff is the most frequent factor of library anxiety in the private researcher at the Royal Library, and mechanical barriers the least frequent.
