This paper examines how Hinduism and Buddhism are portrayed in three textbooks for an upper secondary school course in religion and is limited to a selection of books published in 2009. Based on a qualitative content analysis, the paper examines the extent to which there is an intentional division, that is to say a line between ?them and us? in the ways in which the religions are described, and to what extent the description of these religions in the textbooks are Eurocentric. The study focuses on whether or not there is a ?them and us? perspective in the different books and if so, the ways in which this approach is evident.The result of this study shows that traces of a ?them and us? perspective can be found in all three books.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate whether or not capitalism, viewed here as the system that is currently the dominant economic system in the Western world, can be seen as a modern myth or not. An author, Brian Tracy, of several popular self-help books is the target of this investigation and the language he uses in his books have been scrutinized in order to see whether or not he uses a religiously influenced, and more importantly, myth-creating language. In order to do so, Bruce Lincolns theories of myth have been used in correlation with Stefan Arvidssons definition ov myths. Also of interest is whether or not Tracy in his books uses any of the instruments of power defined by Michel Foucault to support his claims.The investigation shows that capitalism indeed can be seen as a modern myth. This claim is supported by the facts that Tracy not only uses a language heavily influenced by Christian texts and belief but furthermore because he descirbes himself and the people he claims to have helped in a way that strongly resembles the narratives of myths.

In the following essay I have read the drama Natten är dagens mor (The Night is the Day's Mother) by Lars Norén. My main focus has been on the older brother Georg. By using post structuralist gender theories I have sought answers to the following two questions: How is Georg's masculinity constructed and maintained, when seen from a gender perspective? What power structures arise between Georg's and the other men's masculinities? In my analysis I have approached Georg via three perspectives. First, I have by the help of Judith Butler's theory concerning gender performative actions tried to define the men's gender codes.

This paper examines the power producing dams along the Ume-river as an integral part of and a result from the urbanization process in Sweden during industrial capitalism. The aim of the paper is to contribute to the knowledge of the urbanization process in Sweden in general and of its traces along the Ume river in the county of Västerbotten in particular. The paper applies the theory of concentrated urbanization and extended urbanization put forward by Neil Brenner and Christian Schmid (2015) and argues that the building of power producing dams along the Ume-river is part of an extended urbanization process. This becomes particularly evident when examining the vast physical structures that is the dams, situated in an otherwise remote and sparsely populated area. These vast physical structures are also very well connected to a nation wide electric grid that has connections to bordering countries as well.

När Sverige blev medlem i dåvarande EG 1995 fick det bland annat följden att EU:s fördrag och lagstiftning skulle implementeras och göras gällande i svensk lag. I många fall har detta skett utan större problem men i vissa frågor har det uppstått skiljaktliga meningar om huruvida den svenska lagstiftningen och förvaltningen lever upp till de regler som EU gemensamt fattat beslut om. Denna uppsats tar fasta på detta fenomen, närmare bestämt på hur EU och Sverige under en lång tid inte kunde nå en samsyn om hur den svenska vargstammen skulle förvaltas. Genom att beskriva de förutsättningar som ledde fram till den svenska licensjakten på varg kommer uppsatsen att försöka förklara vilka preferenser den svenska regeringen utgick ifrån när den försvarade sitt beslut att genomdriva licensjakt på varg trots EU-kommissionens protester..

Uppsatsen är en kvalitativ intervjustudie, med barnperspektiv som metodologisk utgångspunkt. Syftet är att infoga några barns röster, angående vem som stör(s) i det offentliga rummet.Intervjuerna genomfördes våren 2008 i Stockholmsområdet, med ett urval av fyra barn i nioårsåldern. Gruppintervjuerna skedde vid två tillfällen och formen var halvstrukturerad.Olika teorier tillämpas utifrån en problematisering av vuxenmakt, där barnens reflektioner relateras med positioneringar och normer. Teoretiska begrepp från queer- och maskulinitetsteori används för att se till maktdynamiken, mellan barn och vuxna. Det framkommer att de intervjuade barnen använder sig av olika motståndsstrategier, för att handskas med rådande vuxenmakt i det offentliga rummet.

Denna uppsats är en hermeneutisk och queerteoretisk undersökning av fyra prästers uppfattningar om Svenska kyrkans beslut om att viga samkönade par. Materialet är insamlat genom kvalitativa intervjuer. Jag har utgått från frågeställningarna: Vilka ståndpunkter har informanterna i frågorna om vigsel och äktenskap och hur motiverar de dessa? Hur resonerar informanterna kring frågorna om vigsel och äktenskap? Vad anser informanterna om Svenska kyrkans behandling av frågorna om vigsel och äktenskap? Vad tror informanterna att de beslut som kyrkomötet fattade den 22 oktober 2009 beträffande vigsel och äktenskap kommer att leda till? Resultatet visar att skapelseteologi, tradition och heteronorm är centralt för de två informanter som är emot beslutet. De tycker också att kyrkan behandlat frågan illa.

This essay is intended to illustrate the norms and values which can be deduced from the notifier Catarina Andersdotter and recorded by Gunnar-Olof Hyltén-Cavallius. Reflects the legends of the peasant culture and life during the later part of 1700´s and early 1800´s.                      In the background material, I have assumed the following conditions of life; faith, love, work and children. Since Hyltén-Cavallius is our filter between us and the notifier, I have examined his life and incorporated events that may be of interest of the essay. Catarina Andersdotter´s life is described in the essay to show the factors and living conditions in her life that influenced her choice of stories.                      The environment of the commons over time period is described for the purpose of the variables of the legends. Legends have been qualitatively and quantitatively investigated.                      The essay shows that most of the legends deal with mytical world and its creatures as well as the interaction with humans.

Skolan har ett viktigt demokratiuppdrag i fråga om att arbeta med värderingar och motverka diskriminering i samhället. Skolan arbetar med likabehandlingsplaner som syftar till att skapa en skola där alla behandlas med respekt och på lika villkor. Likabehandlingsarbetet fokuserar mer ofta på faktorer som genus och etnicitet än sexualitet, vilket är en aspekt som ofta förbises. Denna studie har sin utgångspunkt i ett socialkonstruktionistiskt perspektiv och syftet är att undersöka hur lärare konstruerar sexualitet i aspekten likabehandling och hur detta påverkar deras undervisning. Studien har genomförts genom kvalitativa intervjuer och analyserats med hjälp av perspektiv som socialkonstruktionism, queerteori och diskursanalys. Resultatet visar att lärarna skapar en sexualitet som i första hand handlar om identitet och kärlek.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the ancient library organisation in the Mediterranean area. The focus of the study is if they used catalogues, marked their material and their methods for shelving. During the ancient period the people used to write on clay tablets, parchment- or papyrusrolls and codex, which was significant for the organisation. The method, which I use, for the examination is based on criticism of the sources, how the modern scholars has interpreted ancient remains and texts. The study shows that the first evidence for library organisation is from Mesopotamia 2350 BC.

This paper discusses some concerns about Japanese gender identity as a construct and the subversive means to overthrow it. In my paper I claim that the eastern influences on Japan has created a gap between old and new gender- traditions and norms. This interspace is what the philosopher Judith Butler claims as the site for a possible gender transformation. As Butler claims gender identity to be a construct, I use her methods of understanding and subsequently queertheory, to investigate the construct of Japanese gender identity and also the norms that constitute a national identity. As I elaborate on this theory I use specific artworks from Morimura Yasumasa, Yoshiko Shimada and Bubu de la Madeleine and also the all-male theatre kabuki vs.
