In 2009 transgendered persons were included in the Swedish law against discrimination. Prior to the inclusion a commission made an investigation of the necessity of such change in the law and how it could be designed. This essay focuses on the discourses regarding gender that appear in the law and the report written by the commission. Using theories by Judith Butler and discourse analysis inspired by Norman Fairclough it identifies two main discourses regarding gender: a two gender discourse and a queer discourse. The two discourses meet in the studied material in an antagonistic way, a conflict that is solved by separating the two and making one part of the law focus on gender and one on transgender.

Uppsatsen syftar till att visa hur normer kring kön och sexualitet upphävs och utmanas under lajv (levande rollspel). Materialet som används är fältanteckningar från en deltagande observation under ett lajv och fem intervjuer med lajvare. Resultatet visar att heteronormativiteten och den heterosexuella matrisen bryts under lajv, det vill säga det finns en queer dimension under lajv. Denna brytning är möjlig eftersom lajv blir ett liminalt tillstånd genom leken och därmed inverteras samhällets normer. Under lajv kan deltagarna spela med sin könsidentitet och sin sexuella identitet vilket tydligt visar att dessa identiteter inte är några fasta kategorier utan föränderliga och flytande.

Syftet med denna uppsats var att undersöka hur olika samhällsinstansers syn på våld i samkönade parrelationer och vad de gör för att arbeta kring denna problematik. Ämnet studerades med en kvalitativ ansats. Urvalet av den teoretiska populationen utfördes genom strategiskt urval. Den insamlingsmetod som användes för data var delfimetoden. Vid analysen användes tidigare forskning samt queerteorin som teoretisk utgångspunkt.

The portrayals of women in lifestyle magazines has been a continuous subject in genderresearch, but have mainly been focused on research about heterosexual women. However, how women are being portrayed through editorial content in an LGBT magazines have shown to be a gap in gender research.The purpose of this study was to find out how female identities were portrayed in theeditorial content in the LGBT magazine QX ? Sweden?s largest magazine aimed atmembers of the LGBT community in Sweden.The analysis of the material was conducted through a semiotic and a narrative analysis. Patterns and reoccurring themes were selected, and furthermore were analysed againstfeminist theories and views such as queer theory, radical feminism and post-modernfeminism.Four different gender archetypes derived from the result of the study: The strongfemale, The passive female, The stereotypical female, and The intimate female. Thestudy did show that women featured in QX magazine were portrayed throughheteronormative patterns, although the magazine represents a larger alternative group..

This essay analyses two swedish magazines about marriage, called "giftermålstidningar", from 1914 and 1924. With ideology as theoretical basis the subject matter is to find words and expressions of ideological influence in the source material. These influences is assumed to come from contemporary marriage laws, which expressed certain views about heterosexual relationships. In addition to the state's laws, the writers in the magazines is presumed to be influenced by other contemporary ideas. Either an older, christian tradition from brittish baptist Frederick Brotherton Meyer, or the swedish economist Knut Wicksell, who represents the Neo-Malthusian world view.

Uppsatsen handlar om normaliserande och meningsskapande praktiker bland statsanställda på olika myndigheter. Utifrån fem homosexuella tjänstemäns och tjänstekvinnors berättelser om sina arbetsliv och karriärer undersöks hur normalitet skapas och upprätthålls, hur homosexuell subjektivitet formas och hur normativa maktordningar kan utmanas. I uppsatsen visar vi att sexualitet inte kan förstås isolerat från andra maktordningar utan måste ses som intimt förknippat medföreställningar om kön, klass, etnicitet, ålder och yrkesposition. Ju närmare en normativ position den homosexuelle befinner sig desto mindre utmanande blir den homosexuella identiteten. Framför allt är kopplingen mellan sexualitet och kön viktig.

The aim of this master thesis is to study the students usage and experiences of the reference services at the university library at Linköping University. The four questions that I seek answers to are: - What kind of help do the students most often ask for at the reference desk? - To what extent do the students use the reference services for their studies? - What are the students experiences of the help they receive at the reference desk? - What are the students experiences of the treatment they receive from the librarians at the reference desk? I have studied literature that describes reference work and evaluation of reference work. I have also studied Christian Grönroos theory of service quality. I have distributed questionnaires to students at Linköping University.

I den här uppsatsen utgår vi från romanen Kunzelmann och Kunzelmann av Carl-Johan Vallgren. Vi analyserar den för att ta reda på hur den förhåller sig till det postmoderna samhället, och även hur postmodern romanen i sig är. I analysen använder vi oss av en dekonstruktivistisk metod där vi utgår endast från texten och inte författaren, och vi lutar oss på teorier om postmodernism samt queerteori. Analysen har vi strukturerat utefter vissa teman som vi har kunnat urskilja i romanen, som lägger viss tonvikt dels på sexualitet och dels på dikotomierna äkta och falskt. Vi tittar på de två huvudkaraktärerna Joakim och hans far Viktor, deras uppfattning av vad som är falskt och verkligt samt tematas ?porr?, ?queer? och ?en postmodern värld?.

I have in this essay focused on the attitude towards the medieval muslims in swedish textbooks, in the subject of history from the years between 1954 and 2012. I have made an analysis on the discourse in the books and what they says about the muslims who lived before 1500 AD. The theory I have is a Postcolonial one from the authors Edward Said, Ania Loomba and Leela Gandhi. I have also analyzed the rhetorics the authors have used in every textbook. The results I have identified is that the attitude towards the muslims have changed during the years, from a generalizing view that says that the muslims were driven by the religion and that they were different from the Christian European society that existed during the same time.

This master?s thesis problematizes how students in two Swedish secondary schools think and speak about, and relate to, topics such as gender, class, ethnicity, religion and sex, but also how they move in, make use of, and interact within, the school space. What categorizing and positionings, if any, can be found? Students in two Swedish secondary schools, in a medium sized Swedish town, have been observed (using participant observation) and interviewed (open ended), the material was then examined with intersectional theory. A majority of the ethnic Swedish respondents position ?the religious? as ?superstitious?, ?frightening? and/or ?backwards?, also many of them equated religion with ?muslim/islam?, a greater understanding for the others religious outlook was shown by students with an ethnic background from outside Europe.

The essay deals with questions concerning the reasons, difficulties and subjects for rejoicing which various people experience when visiting "voluntarily" old, lonely people in the congregation of Trollhättan. What knowledge is developed and which values are formed? How is aging and solitude experienced? The visits are co-ordinated by two lay workers employed by the Swedish Church. The study is built on oral interviews in April and May 2003 from a questionaire using open questions. The research group consists of six women between 65-80 of age with 1-30 years´ experience.Inner reasons, contact with other people in similar situations, positive responses to visits, and meetings in the visiting service group seem to be the principal driving forces.

Studien har syftat till att skapa förståelse för hur verkligheten kan upplevas för personer som identifierar sig som homosexuella, bisexuella, transpersoner och/eller queer (H/B/T/Q), idag i Sverige. Vi hade en explorativ ansats utifrån detta syfte och använde oss av Grounded theory som kvalitativ metod för datainsamling och databearbetning. Vi intervjuade 11 H/B/T/Q-personer i Örebro, och vi fann ett antal centrala teman som var återkommande i intervjuberättelserna. Dessa handlade om hur sociala interaktioner med omgivningen påverkade den egna processen mot ett öppet liv som H/B/T/Q-person eller ett mer dolt. Det framkom också att det fanns en koppling mellan öppenhet i detta avseende och psykiskt välbefinnande.

Denna uppsats sträcker sig utanför akademin och frågar sig hur en publik kan uppfatta föreställningen La dolce vita. Jag menar att dragshowgruppen After Dark har potential att destabilisera synen på kön, genus och sexualitet som fasta binära kategorier, och undersöker detta i en receptionsstudie. I relation till Judith Butlers performativitetsteori görs med hjälp av deltagande observation och intervjuer med personer som sett showen en jämförelse av hur tolkningarna kan skilja sig åt beroende på tillgång till dessa teoretiska verktyg. Skillnaden visar sig vara stor, informanterna ser främst en problematisering av sexualitet medan det sett utifrån Butler är kön och genus som fokuseras. En annan faktor som är betydande för tolkningen är feministiska utgångspunkter.

As a Swedish landscape architecture student living in Australia for five years, I have often wondered if my memories and my associations with the landscape and the nature in Sweden, are the same as other Swedish people living in Melbourne. Most of the Swedish people who live here in Melbourne remember and associate Sweden?s nature and landscape with where they grew up or where they used to live. The plants that most of the Swedish people I asked missed from Sweden were associated to special feelings or activities. The general type of landscape people remember from Sweden is that of a landscape covered in forests, which you can walk freely through. With these memories as a foundation and with inspiration from the Swedish landscape architect Thorbjörn Anderson?s way of creating places, by letting a few strong changes play against the existing elements,2 but also with consideration of the climate and the severe shortage of water that is current in Melbourne, will I create a design concept for the garden surrounding the Swedish Church in Melbourne. A design concept that will generate memories and associations to Swedish landscapes..

This Master?s Thesis examines the subject indexing of all Swedish gay fiction published from year 2000 until 2007. This is done from a queer theoretical- and domain analytical perspective. The study is conducted in the catalogue BURKsök created by BTJ which is the largest library media company in Sweden. The purpose of the study is to examine the heterosexual norm in fiction indexing and to study to what extent gay fiction is to be found by subject.
