Bull terrier hereditary nephritis is caused by a mutation that leads to an inadequate synthesis of collagen type IV, which is an important component in the basement membranes. The inheritance of the mutation is autosomal dominant in bull terriers and progression to renal failure takes variable time, from several months to ten years. Proteinuria is the first clinical sign of the disease and the diagnosis is confirmed by transmission electron microscopy of renal tissue where typical ultrastructural changes in the glomerular basement membrane (GBM), thickening and multilaminar splitting are found. This study was performed in order to find out the occurrence of hereditary nephritis in bull terriers in Sweden through examination of urine samples and renal tissue and comparisons with how the disease is described in the literature. Urine samples from 76 Swedish bull terriers were collected and examined for proteinuria.

Hjärtsvikt är ett tillstånd då hjärtfunktionen försämrats och cirkulationen inte förser kroppens alla organ med tillräckligt stort blodflöde. Vid hjärtsviktsbehandling är loopdiuretika viktigt för att behandla ödem då det verkar vätskedrivande. Torasemid är ett loopdiuretika som har visats vara effektivt och bra tolererat. I flera studier har effekterna jämförts mellan torasemid och furosemid varvid många betydelsefulla och förmånliga effekter har observerats för torasemid. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att ta reda på om torasemid kan vara ett bättre alternativ till furosemid vid hjärtsviktsbehandling, om torasemid bör kombineras med spironolakton, om furosemid borde sluta användas och varför torasemid inte används i större utsträckning vid hjärtsviktsbehandling. Slutsatsen av litteraturstudien är att torasemid borde användas istället för furosemid vid behandling av hjärtsvikt, vilket grundas på de fördelar som har redovisats i genomförda studier.

Kalvar föds i det närmaste utan antikroppar då dessa inte kan passera placentan från ko till kalv. Således är kalvar helt beroende av att ta upp antikroppar från råmjölken för att kunna stå emot smittämnen så de kan hålla sig friska och överleva. I detta examensarbete har olika faktorer som kan påverka antikroppsöverföringen studerats. I en kommersiell mjölkbesättning samlades uppgifter in om 35 kor som kalvade under två månader. Prov togs från första mjölkningens råmjölk för undersökning av råmjölkens hygieniska kvalitet samt Brix-värde, vilket är en indirekt mätning av råmjölkens innehåll av IgG. Under kalvarnas första levnadsdygn noterades uppgifter om utfodrad råmjölksvolym, ålder vid utfodring, hur bra kalvarna drack mjölken, kalvarnas födelsevikt samt bedömning av vitalitet.

The role of religion, of religious individuals and organizations, is currently discussed within both a private and public sector of development. I have viewed documents from the World Bank and DFID where the religious presence is a growing fact and previous theories that religion would disappear with economic development have been abandoned. As a result DFID conducted a large study on the importance of religion for development work, RaD 2005-2011, under the directions of Professor Carole Rakodi. Rakodi (2011) concluded that religion was highly related to the success or failure of developmental projects, and to understand the values people had religion needed to be understood within its specific cultural context. She developed an analysis model to conduct this work.

The disease affects about1 % of the population worldwide, but the majority are undiagnosed. Ingestion of gluten and thegenotype HLA-DQ2/8 are required for disease development, although additional genetic andenvironmental factors are believed to be of importance. One hypothesis is that timing of glutenintroduction in infants affects the disease risk.

I denna rapport behandlas verktyget FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis), dess användning och genomförande på identifierade komponenter som ingår i elmotorer tillverkade hos ABB LV Motors i Västerås. Målet med detta arbete har varit att ge lärdom om metoden FMEA på företaget för att möjliggöra användandet av verktyget bland medlemmarna på företaget och att vi implementerar verktyget på befintlig motor för att analysera de felsätt som kan uppstå. Eftersom ABB just nu har ett pågående projekt med en ny motor kan våra slutgiltiga felanalyser även ge dem information om vilka ändringar och åtgärder som kan vara till nytta vid utformningen av den nya motorn.Efter två veckors praktik i verkstan och en grundlig genomgång av företagets reklamationer kunde vi avgränsa arbetet genom att identifiera de komponenter som analyserna skulle genomföras på. Efter en genomgång tillsammans med våra handledare på företaget kom vi fram till att utföra våra analyser på fem komponenter, två av dem framstod som mycket kritiska som upptäcktes redan vid genomgång av reklamationerna.Komponenterna som vi har analyserat är:1. Sjukdomen orsakar ofta andnöd, hosta och ökad slembildning. De flesta som drabbas av sjukdomen är personer som är eller har varit rökare. Personer som lever med sjukdomen upplever ofta ett lidande av att inte ha samma ork som tidigare och upplever stigmatiserande fördömanden på grund av sjukdomens troliga orsak.Syfte: Syftet med översikten var att beskriva upplevelsen av att leva med kronisk obstruktiv lungsjukdom.Metod: Detta är en litteraturöversikt som är baserad på elva vetenskapliga artiklar. Artiklarna är analyserade och kvalitetsgranskade av båda författarna i flera steg enligt rekommendationer för analysarbete av Friberg (2012).

Gastric and intestinal disorders are common and costly human health problems worldwide. Helicobacter pylori are a gram-negative, pathogen bacteria and the most common cause of duodenal and gastric ulcer in the stomach the intestinal mucosa. Prolonged infection and colonization can lead to chronic gastritis and stomach cancer. H. pylori are present in the gastric and intestinal mucosa of half of the world population and a relation between infection and low socioeconomic status has been shown.

This is a case study which investigated the perceived consequences of the organizational change that was implemented in January 2013 at Karlstad University. The study aimed to explore the experiences of the employees concerning the changes in organizational structure and internal communication. This was done through a set of eight individual standardized qualitative interviews with members from different departments. A lot of effort and thought was given to the ethical implications and to create a comfortable and open climate during the actual interviews to ensure that the respondents felt free to speak openly and honestly about their personal opinions and experiences.It is evident that the overall vision was ambitious; aiming to create a more effective organization through cutting off excessive administrative personnel and streamlining decision paths. However according to the opinions of the respondents it was clear that the result was far from the desired goal.
