Magnesium is one of the most important minerals in the body and it participates in many essential processes, such as energy metabolism and protein synthezis. Magnesium deficiency in cattle may occur when they are let out for pasture in the spring, and is associated with tetany, known as grass staggers. A high yielding dairy cow often loses more magnesium daily in the milk than she has available in the body, and magnesium thereby needs to be provided in the feed to prevent the cow from being affected by deficiency symptoms.
The uptake of magnesium is mainly located to the rumen and is not regulated by hormones. The surplus is excreted in the urine by the kidneys.

SammanfattningBakgrund: Våra matvanor grundläggs tidigt i livet. Med tanke på det rådande hälsoläget i Sverige och världen behöver långvarigt preventiva insatser sättas in i tidig ålder för att bekämpa utvecklingen av fetma. Salut-satsningen är ett exempel på en preventiv insats som syftar till att främja hälsa hos barn och ungdomar. Syfte: Att undersöka hur förstagångsmödrar upplever och uppfattar den information om hälsosamma matvanor som mödrahälsovården (MHV), barnavårdscentralen (BVC) och folktandvården ger inom Salut-satsningen. Metod: Kvalitativa semistrukturerade telefonintervjuer utfördes med 18 strategiskt utvalda förstagångsmödrar vars barn var i åldern ett till ett och ett halvt år.

Syftet med denna studie var att finna kunskap om vad som är viktigt för sjuksköterskan att tänka på i mötet med patienter som ska få en stomi. Metoden var en systematisk litteratur studie enligt Polit, Beck & Hungler (2001). Åtta vetenskapliga artiklar har granskats för att besvara frågeställningen. Resultatet visar att information och stöd före stomi operationen är mycket viktigt. Patientens förmåga att själv sköta sin stomi är viktig för anpassningen till livet med stomi.

Methane (CH4) is a greenhouse gas (GHG) that contributes to the global warming. One of the largest sources of methane is livestock, preferably ruminants which alone counted for 30% of the total agricultural anthropogenic methane emissions in the year of 2000. The reason to why ruminants are such large contributors of methane are that the gas is produced in the rumen by enteric formation and leaves the animals by belching, exhaling or by the excreta.Diets high in concentrates can result in a lower emission of methane. Also diets with a high content of starch, such as alfalfa-grass, have a methane-decreasing. It is profitable to reduce enteric methane formation since that form of methane is unavoidably lost.

This research aim was to examine the relationship between the choice of lunch dish, level of education, gender and age of the participants. The understanding of diet and it´s influence on health was also of interest to the research, as was cooking interest and travel habits. The goal was to demonstrate how these factors affect the adult individuals in their choice of lunch. A questionnaire was filled in by 99 guests in a chosen restaurant. The results show that many of these factors influence the choice of dish, especially those related to gender.

The aim of this qualitative study was to study high school PE teachers´ experience of health in high school and how they work with health in their physical education. This was examined by interviewing five high PE school teachers. The results show that all teachers were in the category humanistic approach. They saw health as more than only absence of sickness. The methods for using health in their physical education were divided into three different categories; physical health, improve the individual and theoretical health.

There are over 1,5 billion Muslims living on earth and the religion is one of the world´s most increasing. Sweden is a country with a cultural diversity where about 300 000 Muslims lived in 1999. Today, the requirement for knowledge about caring for Muslims and the need of culturally competent nursing care are increasing.The aim of this study was to define cultural factors which the nurse has to recognize to be able to give culturally competent care to the Muslim patient. The method that has been used was a The Sunrise Model, which illustrates Leininger´s theory of culture care diversity and universality, provides a theoretical framework for the study. The results are presented on the basis of Leininger´s three cultural factors; cultural values, beliefs and lifeways.
