Projekt Pedadoggen - Hunden som pedagogisk resurs i en daglig verksamhet
Through this project -?Projekt Pedadoggen?- I have tested dog training as a pedagogical resource at Daily activities. The study was made together with a group of persons with intellectual and neuropsychiatric disabilities, whose daily activities consist of running a day-care centre for dogs. Each participator of the project trained a dog towards a specific goal. This goal was individually formulated by each participator from his or her specific interest.

The investigation aims to clarify to what extent non-conscious thought has efficacy in e.g. decision making and also examine some aspects of the question whether decisions are caused by free will. This will be conducted through an analysis of new research pertaining to neuroscience, economics, the combination of the two within neuroeconomics; evolutionary theory and especially the new theory of Unconscious thought (Nordgren & Dijksterhuis 2006) which will enjoy special scrutiny due to its recentness in the scientific field. A decision strategy ought to put high-level conscious cognition to use where it's most effective and this is on a different level than the canonized one. Meta decision making is decision making pertaining to which decisions ought to be made consciously.
Posthumanism i förhållande till digitala spel
Detta kandidatarbete undersöker hur digitala spel kan skapas med någon annans synsätt. Vi ville se vad som hände om vi försökte göra spel på ett posthumanistiskt sätt och om detta hade förändrat något. Det har uppkommit speciella möjligheter och konsekvenser under processen, det har även dykt upp frågor. En av dessa frågor är hur skapandet av varelser inom digitala spel kan utföras. Likväl har det under projektet skett diskussioner och tester runt hur ett verktyg för detta ändamål skulle kunna fungera.
Dyskalkyli : En intervjustudie med föräldrar till ungdomarmed specifik räknesvårighet
Dyskalkyli, eller specifik räknesvårighet, är en specifik inlärningsstörning som innebärstora svårigheter att handskas med siffror. Detta är en kvalitativ intervjustudie medföräldrar till ungdomar med dyskalkyli, där frågor kring skolgång, insatser och känslorkring diagnosen samt relationen mellan förälder och ungdom berörs. Åtta föräldrar, allamödrar till ungdomar med dyskalkyli som är mellan 12 och 19 år intervjuades.Analysen som gjordes är en så kallad tematisk analys. De åtta teman som studienresulterade i är: Från upptäckt till utredning, Hur påverkar diagnosen?, Livet utanförskolan, Skolans hantering av svårigheter och dyskalkyli, Föräldrars insatser, Relationentill skolan, Vilka insatser önskas? och Hur dyskalkylin påverkar idag och framtiden.Föräldrar upplevde skolgången som en jobbig tid för både dem och deras barn och imånga fall har kommunikationen mellan skola och hem brustit.

Our approach to knowledge is based on the hermeneutic tradition of knowledge. The essay rests upon semi-structured interviews with ten Social Services? workers.
Utveckling och konstruktion av dämpare och låssystem för vågkraftverk
The division of Electricity at Uppsala University is developing a wave energy converter(WEC) consisting of a linear generator connected to a bouy at the water surfacethrough a wire cable called the connection line.During extreme conditions, the wave power plant will experience forces up to 500kN, which lead to unnecessary wear and will ultimately cause the failure of theconverter. To prevent this there is a need for a damper.The wave energy converter works at a maximum efficiency when the translator?sare centered with respect to the stator. Due to tidal movements the position of thetranslator can deviate. There for a mechanical divice that will compensate for this isneeded.This report describes the further development of an earlier project where a tidalwave compensator for a wave energy converter of Seabased AB was developed.
Klistret i klustret : En undersökande studie av ansamlingen av GIS-relaterad verksamhet i Gävleregionen
Recent years there has been discussed how the critical situation in the housing market threatens the Stockholm region's growth. The thesis objective is to examine whether there is a scientific link between the lack of housing supply and growth. The thesis also intends to identify solutions for increased housing construction, for instance by examining the conditions for a greater regional perspective and influence on the region's housing supply. The thesis empirical study is based on semi-structured interviews with representatives from the Government, municipalities and the housing industry.In Sweden, research on the relationship between housing shortages and growth has not been conducted to that extent it can be said to exist scientific evidence regarding the growth threat. However, in Britain and the U.S, empirical studies show that a lack of housing supply has hindered growth through negative impact on countries' gross domestic product.
Överläkare i ortopedi och kirurgi : Likvärdiga arbeten med lika löner?
This investigation is a pilot survey whose main purpose is to investigate with work evaluation and attitude analysis whether the orthopedists and surgeons work can be equaled, why the wages differences exists between women and men, and also which preventive measures the organization can use to even out the wages differences between the genders. In relation with the investigation I have applied the reflexive way of thinking to establish which difficulties come up in the work of gender-equality.The result?s from work evaluation displays that the works are equivalent but the salaries are not, which can depend on value discrimination,gender discrimination and the organization theory.Wages differences between women and men depend on, according to the informers, partly by historical explanation and partly by the old directors who was allowed to retain regular salary when theypost transformed. The common point of view is that men have a larger work experience and therefore a higher salary.The managements attitude towards gender-equality issues is of absolute importance in order to achieve and bring a change within the organization.The measure positive special treatment is proposed to be used as an improving method to achieve (gender)equality between the posts and to even out the wages difference between the sexes.To establish whether or not gender discrimination exist in the investigated organization there needs to be done a whole lot supplementary studies like a complete wage (salary) mapping which includes all supplements and more interviews among the organizations all occupation groups..
Traumaomhändertagande på akutmottagningen : Upplevelser ur patientens perspektiv
Background:A trauma is a potential life threatening state which demands special resources and optimal care. Trauma doesn't just mean physical violence against the body, it can also put the patient in a psychological crisis. The trauma care in the emergency department is a short and intensive assessment between the patient and the emergency staff, where there is a risk that the patient may feel exposed and uncomfortable. For the nurse to be able to provide security and meet the patients' needs of well-being during the trauma care, the nurse has to try to understand the patients' needs and experiences. Aim: The aim of this study was to illuminate the patient's experiences during trauma care in the emergency department.
Att strukturera kaos : En studie av specialpedagogiska metoder i daglig verksamhet för personer med autism
Människor med autism lever i ett ständigt kaos. Därför är den viktigaste pedagogiska principen när man arbetar med människor med autism att strukturera och ordna omvärlden, att strukturera kaoset.Syfte: Syftet med rådande undersökning är att utifrån löpande aktiviteter i daglig verksamhet för personer med autism lyfta fram och analysera de olika specialpedagogiska metoderna man använder.Metod: Studien har en kvalitativ ansats för att uppnå sitt syfte. De empiriska undersökningarna, vilka bestod av intervjuer och observationer, har utförts i daglig verksamhet för personer med autism.Resultat och diskussion: Denna studie visar att man i den aktuella dagliga verksamheten använder sig av specialpedagogiska metoder för att underlätta de problem som människor med autism har med social interaktion, kommunikation och fantasi.Studien visar också att de specialpedagogiska metoderna i vissa sammanhang brister. Detta gör det då personalen genomför aktiviteter som bland annat går ut på social interaktion, vilket inte gynnar personer med autism då de har stora svårigheter med social interaktion. Därtill visar studien att personalen har en oerhört stor roll i arbetet med människor med autism.
Produktion av marknadsförings- och korrespondensmaterial för DUCIS
The report describes the production of graphic correspondence and marketing material for DUCIS(Dalarna University Centre for Irish Studies).A logotype symbol is created on the basis of an element from the Celtic art, and a graphic material thatharmonies with this ideal of style is built around the symbol. A unique visiting card, correspondence cardand letterhead is produced to strengthen the identity of DUCIS outwards.The work proceeds with an international education folder which is an important element in the marketingwork for the MA-education which starts in the autumn of 2003. Two posters, one for the opening ofDUCIS in may 2003 and one for a conference in 2004, are produced. Finally, a redesign of the book coverfor NIS, Nordic Irish Studies, is carried out.The report describes the working process consisting of meetings, practical work and other elementswithin the process. The conclusion is that the work has been quite successful and that this, to a largeextent, depended on an engaged and supporting commissioner.
Texten och talet : En intervjustudie om talboksanvändande hos studenter med dyslexi
The aim of this thesis is to investigate how students in higher education use talking books. This has been inves-tigated through qualitative interviews with nine students. The intention has been to find out how they use talk-ing books and why they have chosen to do it in the way they have, looking specifically on whether there are strategies shared by most of the interviewees.As a theoretical basis of the thesis I have chosen a study, described by Sigrid Hongset, where dyslectic pu-pils tried using printed text and text on tape, as well as both simultaneously. George Kingsley Zipfs ?Principle of least effort? will act as a supplemental theory.The interviews show that the students use talking books in different ways.
Den manliga heterosexuella normen En analys av SAB-systemet utifrån ett feministiskt och queerteoretiskt perspektiv
The aim of this Masters thesis is to conduct an analysis of the Swedish classification system the SAB-system from a feminist and queer theoretical perspective. The theoretical framework of the study is feminist and queer theory as well as theories from Library and Information Science, mainly classification theory. The study takes its departure from the idea of classification systems as social constructs, reflecting their time, place and society. Paul Ricoeurs critical hermeneutics is used as methodological guidance. This gives room for a critical perspective in the interpretation.
Tysta barn : Pedagogers erfarenheter och bemötande av tysta elever i skolan
Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur lärare beskriver erfarenheter av att bemöta tysta elever i skolan utifrån deras kommunikativa och språkliga förmågor. Med hjälp av kvalitativa halvstrukturerade intervjuer med fyra yrkesverksamma lärare på låg- och mellanstadiet presenterar studien hur lärarna beskriver att de bemöter tysta elever i skolan samt hur de beskriver att de anpassar undervisningen för att lyfta fram tysta elevers kommunikativa och språkliga förmågor.Utifrån ett fenomenologiskt perspektiv har intervjuerna tolkats och analyserats med avsikt att lyfta fram lärarnas beskrivningar av sina erfarenheter, bemötanden och anpassningar.En slutsats i denna studie är att lärarna upplever att tysta elevers tysthet är situationsberoende. Den kan vara beroende av gruppstorleken eller miljön. Ett annat resultat som framkom var att lärarna ansåg att det var betydelsefullt att skapa en trygg undervisningssituation för att få de bästa förutsättningarna för framför allt de tysta eleverna. Lärarna beskrev också olika tillvägagångssätt som de använde för att kunna bedöma elevernas muntliga förmågor. I studien framkom också att lärarna upplevde en del hinder för sina ambitioner att skapa bra undervisningssituationer.
Lärsituationens komplexitet för elever som upplever svårigheter i matematik : Rutiga Familjen i en ny lärmiljö
The Squares Family is a game developed as a learning aid in mathematics. With its graphical representation of the decimal system, the four basic arithmetic operations and positive and negative numbers together with a learning agent as pedagogical approach, the game?s primary purpose is to motivate students in their learning of mathematics. Although the game is strictly based on mathematical rules it attempts to encourage students to play and work with math without experiencing it as mathematics as this is initially not obvious. The game being internationally tested on normal performing students, this project introduced the game to six Swedish students who experience low motivation for and/or difficulties in mathematics.
