The subject of this paper is the library job market in Sweden 1975-1995. Job advertisementsin the periodical of DIK Association (the Swedish federation for occupational groups thatworks with documentation, information and culture) have been studied.1975, 1980, 1985, 1990 and 1995 there were 2 170 advertisements of situations for librarians.They have been examined with focus on the following:situation description:qualifications requested:? type of library? size of municipality?county? hours per week? duration? designation? tasks? education? knowledge of languages? knowledge of specific subjects? knowledge of computers? experience? driving licence, carStatistics have been made. The figures of the five years have been compared to give a pictureof the development.The results have also been compared with what has been written about the changes that arehappening on the labour market in general, and similarities and differences have been pointedat..

The object of this master thesis is to question why the sheet music heldby libraries is not used more than it is. I have mainly studied the inc idenceof any cooperation between the music schools and libraries,whether there has been consultation on the purchase of sheet musicand whether the music schools borrowed sheet music from the libraries.For the thesis qualitative methods were used in the form of interviewswith ten leaders in music or cultural schools in Sweden. The mainstudy has been focused on the library and music school in Vänersborg.To compare my results and draw conclusions I have used the work ofSanna Taljas: Music, Culture and the Library: an analysis of Discourses.The result of the study showed that there is very little cooperation betweenthe library section for music and the music school. The greatestinterest for cooperation appears to come from the library personnel.Both the library and the music school personnel claim insufficient timeand money for their lack of cooperation..

The purpose of this master thesis is to investigate if the mobile library has a similar role as the public library. To study this further we intend to examine the value and function of the mobile library. Answers are sought to the following questions: Can the mobile library be seen as a public library in a smaller scale? How do the users experience the value and function of the mobile library? What does the library staff think of the value and function of the mobile library for the users? What would the consequences be if the service of the mobile libraries would not exist? The method used was qualitative interviews. The groups of respondents are mobile library users and library staff.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine adults? fictionreading habits. The focus is finding out what differencesexist between men and women to study the significance offiction to readers. The study is based on a questionnairesurvey with men and women coming in to a public library.We used Sten Furhammar?s reading dimensions andcategories to describe the importance of the respondentsreading experience and describe the ways that men andwomen read.Our result shows that the genres men and women prefer arenovels, detective stories/thrillers and biographies.

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to examine whether there exists a hegemonic relationship between librarians and users of libraries with a focus on the librarians point of view. The future of movies in the library is also going to be examined. Qualitative interviews were conducted and were examined for signs of hegemony and habitus according to the respective theories. The results of these interviews showed that librarians were in favor of user suggestions to improve the libraries collection. We found that there exists a hegemonic relationship in the libraries, but that it was subliminal and unwanted.

The purpose of this Bachelor?s thesis is to describe and analyze the implementation of Facebook in a public library. A case study consisting of qualitative interviews and studies of documents containing goals for the library has been conducted at a public library going through the process of implementing Facebook in their operations. The theoretical framework for this study consists of Everett M. Rogers?s stages of the innovation-decision process and his characteristics of innovations as perceived by individuals.

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the reason behind thedecision to open libraries at subway stations in Stockholm.The theoretical framework for the study is Douglas Raber´s threeideologies, social activism, conservative response and populistinitiative. The study includes interviews with librarians and apolitician responsible for the service and documents with plansfor the Public Libraries development during the period. Det finns drygt 300 professionella förlag i Sverige med regelbunden utgivning. I Litteraturutredningen 2012 slås fast att både koncentrationen och integrationen har ökat på den svenska bokmarknaden under de senaste åren och den största aktören på bokmarknaden är Bonnierförlagen. Jättens monopolliknande ställning på bokmarknaden ger emellanåt upphov till en samhällsdebatt. Bonnierkritiker menar att Bonnierförlagens utgivning är begränsad till säkra storsäljare, vilket är ett hot mot mångfald och det fria ordet. Dessutom har Bonnier större möjlighet till marknadsföring jämfört med mindre förlag vilket i förlängningen gör att Bonnierböcker efterfrågas i större utsträckning.Ett intressant spörsmål är varför folkbiblioteken inte är involverade i denna debatt.

Fler och fler webbapplikationer låter sina användare ladda upp bilder. Ibland behöver dessa bilder manipuleras på något sätt, till exempel förminskas eller beskäras för att bättre passa in på webbsidan. Detta kan göras på flera olika sätt men denna rapport behandlar endast ett av biblioteken för bildmanipulation i PHP, nämligen GD-biblioteket.Syftet med denna rapport var att hitta eventuella styrkor och svagheter i detta bibliotek gällande bildmanipulation. Detta har gjorts genom att försöka skapa, för webben vanlig funktionalitet så som exempelvis tumnaglar, beskärning och vattenmärkning och sedan dokumentera resultatet.Resultatet av testningen visade att all testad funktionalitet gick att åstadkomma och slutsatsen som drogs av detta var att GD-biblioteket är ett bra val för någon som vill manipulera bilder..

Syftet är att utvärdera i vilken utsträckning svenska företags belöningssystem motiverar de anställda. Primärdata inhämtades via tio fallstudier genom intervjuer med de ansvariga för belöningssystemet på företagen. Sekundärdata inhämtades via en teorigenomgång av böcker, artiklar och uppsatser hämtade ur Lunds Universitets Bibliotek. Teorigenomgången mynnar ut i definierandet av tio kriterier som ett belöningssystem skall uppfylla för att vara motiverande för de anställda. De definierade kriteriernas uppfyllelse analyseras för de tio fallen.

This is an empirical study mapping out different citation practices to games in the fieldof game studies. From an analysis of 7 journals, 3 conferences and 22 canonical bookswithin game studies, 5 different strategies for game referencing have been identified.Games scholars can either totally refrain from referring to the games they discuss, onlyreference some specific games, cite them as something special and deviant from othersources, refer to them in accordance with other sources or refer to games with regard totheir unique properties as a reference. For the reference librarian working with issuesrelating to game studies the diverse reference practices among game scholars pose aspecific challenge. A challenge that partly can be overcome by knowing how gamescholars frame games and how these frameworks are in conflict with the ways librariansframe and classify sources due their physical properties..

Syftet med vår studie är att ta reda på hur sju lärare i år 3-6 arbetar för att väcka elevers läsintresse och hur de behåller elevernas läslust. För att få svar på detta har vi valt följande frågeställningar:-Hur går lärarna tillväga för att få eleverna intresserade av att läsa skönlitteratur?-Vad vill lärarna uppnå genom att arbeta med skönlitteratur i klassen?-Hur har de intervjuade lärarnas arbetssätt förändrats för att väcka elevers läsintresse under deras verksamma tid som lärare?För att få svar på våra frågeställningar gjorde vi en intervjustudie med sju lärare som har någon anknytning till skönlitteratur.I resultatet av undersökningen kommer vi att belysa lärarnas åsikter om skönlitteraturens roll i undervisningen. Vi lyfter fram bibliotekets förändrade och mer betydande roll i samband med litteraturundervisningen. I studien betonar även lärarna hur betydelsefull bland annat högläsningen är för att väcka läsintresse hos eleverna..

In this master thesis I investigate different views on literary quality in two quite different library journals; Biblioteksbladet and Bibliotek i Samhälle. One aim of the study is to see whether the ambiguity of the term literary quality is considered. Since there is no universally accepted definition of literary quality to be found the analysis is inspired by discourse analysis. This theoretical frame work starts off in the assumption that our views of the world are much dependent the way we describe it. The work of Finnish scholar Sanna Talja is presented and the results of this thesis are compared with the three perspectives on music culture that are presented in her book.

Java och C# är två objektorienterade programmeringsspråk med många gemensamma egenskaper, dock har dessa egenskaper syntaxmässiga skillnader. En tidigare undersökning har visat att mindre än 5 % av källkoden behöver ändras för att konvertera ett fungerande Java-program till ett likadant fungerande C#-program. Frågeställningar baserade på denna upptäckt togs fram och besvarades genom att jämföra två identiska program skrivna i Java och C#, skillnader och likheter mellan programmens källkod pekas ut och sammanställs kvantitativt. Skillnader består av bl.a. språkens nyckelord, klasser och metoder som motsvarar varandra i språkens bibliotek har olika namn och beteenden samt att finesser som finns i ena språket återfinns inte i det andra.

I denna uppsats har vi valt att analysera hur olika karaktärer framställs utifrån ett genusperspektiv. Böckerna vi har valt att analysera är tre av Tove Janssons berättelser om Mumintrollet och hans vänner som utgavs för första gången 1948, 1954 och 1970, trots detta säljs de fortfarande i stor utsträckning och utlånas frekvent på bibliotek. Genom kvalitativ textanalys har vi undersökt återkommande beteendemönster och personbeskrivningar för att få reda på hur kvinnliga respektive manliga karaktärer beskrivs med hjälp av både inre egenskaper och yttre attribut. Resultatet visar att omsorg om andra, utseendefixering och känslomässigt engagemang är något som tillskrivs de kvinnliga karaktärerna medan de manliga karaktärerna ägnar sig åt sig själva, är eller vill vara modiga.
