Hip dysplasia is a common, inherited malformation of the coxofemoral joint that eventually leads to osteoarthrosis. Several breeds of dogs are affected and the prevalence varies between different breeds. As part of the effort to reduce the prevalence of hip dysplasia and select dogs suitable for breeding, radiological screening is performed by at least 12 months of age. Before the radiological examination the dog has to be chemically restrained, sedated or anesthetized. The sedation protocol used differs between veterinary clinics. The impact of sedation method of the screening result for hip dysplasia has been studied.

The topic of this essay is core value issues, how they are mediated in school and how they are practiced. I am investigating a problem concerning the existential worth of the core values-content for children, or in other words, the difficulty of reconciling the theory of the core values and their practice. This problem is portrayed by two stories. The aim of this work is to investigate how to combine the core values theory with its practice, in other words, make it meaningful. In my essay, I turn to recent research in the field to provide a background to my issue, and hereby further point to my problem.

District heating covers most of the residential areas and industries in the twoneighbouring Swedish municipalities Nyköping and Oxelösund. In Nyköping,Vattenfall AB Värme produces heat in a bio-fuelled CHP plant. In Oxelösund,waste heat and use of waste gases from the steel production at SSABOxelösund is the basis in the district heating system.This report examines the environmental consequences of a connection betweenthe two district heating systems. A broad system approach is used and the focusis on environmental effects in the system.A system analysis has been performed on the result of simulations of differentheat and electricity production alternatives. The alternatives simulated wereone where Vattenfall Nyköping covers the base load in the joint district heatingsystem and two where the power plant at SSAB Oxelösund supplies the heatbase load.The conclusion in this report is that the consequences of connecting the twodistrict heating systems can be both positive and negative, depending onsystem boundaries and on the environmental focus.

The main environmental problem for aviation is the great amount of exhaust gases, mainly nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons - mostly "greenhouse gases" leading to climate changes. I decided to sort out what is being done to decrease these problems and what regulations there are concerning air pollution by the means of searching the internet and using publications from aviation authorities for current figures. I chose to scrutinize authorities on political, authority and company level, resulting in summarizing the work of UN and EU respectively, ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), JAA (Joint Aviation Authorities) and LFV (Swedish Civil Aviation Authority), and finally SAS, representing the airline companies. Conclusion that I have drawn are thatthere are regulations for air pollution, written down in ICAO's Annex 16, that are to be followed. Secondly, LFV are environmentally controlling their nineteen airports and since economy is an important reason for not giving priority to environmental issues in aviation emission charge and noise charge are added to the landing fees.

This master?s thesis deals with problems and opportunities when it comes to cooperation between compulsory schools, upper secondary schools, school libraries and public libraries on Gotland. The goal of this thesis is to investigate which ideas exist among public librarians, school librarians and headmasters when it comes to taking responsibility for the students? information literacy, basic library knowledge and passion for books. It also examines some of the problems they meet when trying to work together around these tasks.

The purpose of this study is to examine how risk is perceived by the urban architect's in the region Dalarna, as well as how this is reflected in their everyday work with risk and decision- making according to urban planning. The ambition is also to show how their risk awareness could be improved. The study is written in cooperation with Länsstyrelsen Dalarna as a part of their regional long-term goal to improve the region's proactive risk' and crisis management. The study is based upon 12 semi-structured interviews with local urban architects conducted during the summer and autumn 2007. The result shows that some architects are motivated for working with risk and think that risk awareness should be integrated in their everyday work, while others are not motivated and think that risk is more of a passing trend.

The aim of this master ´s thesis is to understand why there are difficulties in finding joint methods and standards in the field of image indexing. The main focus for interpreting these issues is on Sara Shatford ´s article Analyzing the Subject of a Picture: A Theoretical Approach. In the article Shatford discusses a theoretical basis for identifying and classifying the subject in a picture. Med början på år 1995 slogs Flygvapnets-, Arméns- och Marinflygets respektive helikopterförband samman till en gemensam helikopterflottilj sorterandes under Flygvapnet. Äldre helikoptersystem byttes ut mot nya uppdaterade system för att bättre klara dagens uppgifter parallellt med att efterfrågan har ökat nationellt såväl som internationellt. Samtidigt som en statlig utredning säger att understöd med helikopter är av stor betydelse för Försvarsmaktens framtida användbarhet så har flera omorganisationer skett inom myndigheten, vilket riskerar att hämma effektiviteten. Hur lämplig är Försvarsmaktens nuvarande helikopterorganisation när det gäller helikoptersamövning mellan Helikopterbataljonen och övriga förband?Studien visar att dagens Försvarsmakt, där efterfrågan på helikoptrarna är större än de tillgängliga resurserna, använder sig av ett system med både styrningar från högre chef såväl som önskemål från förbanden. Detta organisationsval stämmer väl överens med de antaganden, hämtade ur Bolman & Deals teori Det strukturella perspektivet, som har utgjort arbetets teoretiska grund.I arbetet framkommer även att det saknas en försvarsmaktsgemensam erfarenhetsdatabas för dessa övningar vilket riskerar att utgöra en friktion i kunskapsspridningen mellan förbanden..

År 1967 sändes tv-serien Kullamannen för första gången och spänningsserien om fyra ungdomarsminst sagt innehållsrika sommarlov i trakterna kring den mystiska Kullen i Skåne, blev en storsuccé hos den svenska tv-publiken. Serien kom att repriseras ett flertal gånger genom åren ochäven idag, drygt 40 år efter premiären, är den populär bland både barn och vuxna.I denna uppsats har jag undersökt vad det egentligen var/är som gjorde/gör serien så populäroch framför allt; så spännande! För att ta reda på detta har jag analyserat serien utifrån de femperspektiven; mise en scéne, cinematografi, klippning, ljud och narration. Jag har undersökt hurseriens skapare, Leif Krantz, har arbetat med att skapa spänning inom dessa områden och isamband med detta även ställt Kullamannen mot andra spänningsserier av Krantz (så somKråkguldet, Pojken med guldbyxorna, Ärliga blå ögon, Sinkadus, Bessingemordet samt Snoken.)Efter min jämförelse av dessa har jag dragit slutsatsen att det som är gemensamt för Krantzserier är just spänningen. En spänning som är väldigt påtagande och som skapas genom smådetaljer och genomtänkta sekvenser, och inte genom ett blodigt slagsmål eller en vapengalenterrorist.Jag har också kommit fram till att Krantz insats inom den svenska spänningsgenren kanskerent av kan göra honom till en ?bortglömd? auteur inom den samma.

Postoperative pain is a well known phenomenon and pain physiology and analgesics are well known by caregivers, but the significance of the interaction between patient and caregiver is not illuminated. There are still patients experiencing unnecessary postoperative pain. Among patients in elective surgery, 25% runs a risk for underestimated pain. The aim of the study was to describe patient?s experiences of nursing interaction in the context of postoperative pain during hospitalisation after going through knee- or hiparthropasty.

Jag intresserar mig i stort för berättande av olika slag och vems berättande som får ta plats. En del berättelser omvärderar vår förståelse av världen, medan andra förstärker den förståelse och ordning som redan finns. Mediers bilder spelar en roll då de kan ses som förebilder som vi förhåller oss till när vi skapar våra åsikter och värderingar. I mitt examensarbete har jag undersökt serien Klass 9A som har visats på SVT under våren. Syftet med undersökningen är att få en fördjupad förståelse för vilka bilder av lärare som visas i media.

Uppsatsen syftar till att söka svar på hur viktigt det är att människan i vårt samhälle ser på sig själv som en musikalisk individ och hur viktigt det är att andra också gör det. Spelar musikaliteten någon roll för oss människor eller är det kuriosa, något extra och roligt som vissa har stor glädje av men som andra inte saknar i någon större utsträckning? Forskningsfrågorna som använts är: Vad händer när man får veta att man är ?omusikalisk?? Hur framförs beskedet och hur har det förändrats från andra halvan av 1900-talet och fram till idag? Uppsatsen baseras på teorier om musikalitet och identitet. Metoderna är kvalitativa och utgår från narrativa metoder med sitt ursprung i Labov (1972) och hans modell för berättelseanalys vilken även skulle kunna beskrivas som diskursanalytisk. De berättelser som ligger till grund för studien kommer från sex informanter i åldrarna 18-58.

Background: Osteoarthritis is understood to be a common cause of pain and dysfunction in cats; however there are few validated pain assessment methods for chronic pain in cats. In order to design a proper pain questionnaire, it usability need to be tested in both sound and sick cats. Aim: The aim was to investigate the usability of the pain questionnaire ?Lifestyle changes in cats? by compiling the results from the pain questionnaire reflecting the lifestyle in 30 healthy cats and compare it to the results from a clinical examination, as well as proposing improvements and additions to the questionnaire based on a literature review. Material and method: 30 healthy cats participated in the pilot study; the pet owner filled out a pain questionnaire with 16 questions regarding their cat´s behavioral and eventual changes in behavior and physical function. Thereafter the cat walked over a pressure measurement mat and finally underwent an orthopedic-directed clinical examination. The literature was found on Web of Knowledge, PubMed, Sciencedirect, and Google Scholar and also with the help of my supervisors.

On the advice of Queen Herodias, Salome's mother, she asks the head of prophet John on a platter. Herod is horrified, but grants Salome's desire.This is the first in a series of Salome petitions as Mark and Matthew in the New Testament. Salome has since then never ceased to fascinate artists and writers through the ages.
