The aim of this Master's thesis is to explore how the localisation and the design affect the conditions for a school-media centre. A school-media centre is in this study a place where the students seek, find and evaluate information, discuss and exchange ideas. An active place for generating knowledge. The method applied in this study is "Space Syntax Analysis", a quantitative method with visual representation of the results. In the theoretical framework, space is the voids between walls, doors and ceiling, between furniture and bookshelves.

Title: Defending one's origin ? a musical journey to Transylvania.A journey to the Transylvanian part of Romania was pursued with the intent to investigate the cultural aspects of the historically and politically rooted set of relations between the Hungarian peaking minority and the majority of the population, the Romanian speaking group. Music pedagogical ambitions within the two cultures were used as reflections of these phenomena. In trying to shed light on my questions and extract the relations between the dominating and the dominated in this specific cultural and social context I have used the central themes of Bourdieu ? capital, habitus and field.

This thesis focuses on the driver?s experience of the road and its surroundings. ?The view from the road? takes place every day and a high-quality ?road experience? is therefore a question of importance. Since cars made their breakthrough in the 1920-30, the approach to ?the driver experience? has varied notably.

The title Urban furniture for young people reveals that this paper handles two central phenomenon in landscape architecture; the form and content of the urban spaces, respectively the users and their need for an appropriate outdoor environment in the city. In this paper youth is referred to as 15-18 year olds and the paper is based on theories of their physical use of the city?s outdoor environment. Urban furniture refers to equipment and components in the public room which becomes furniture when people takes them in to claim and gives them a meaning and a function that is useful for the moment. The starting point is that the users, in this case youths, defi nes urban furniture as something signifi cantly more than traditional park furniture, bicycle racks and waste baskets. This paper aims to investigate how the city?s furniture can be developed to meet the youths need to see each other, move and make their marks in the public room. The theories about how youths uses the city are presented in the Theory chapter.

Title: Learning to read music notation on the guitar ? an analysis of various guitar schools on the market with added own examples. Purpose: To analyse currently available teaching materials on the subject of guitar notation on the market. A comparative analysis is made of five chosen books on the topic. Four criteria for the analysis of these five books are stated: 1) Structure and progression of the study of reading music on the guitar.

The purpose of this work is to map what musical praise and worship means to different church members. What do they think of today's worship? Are there music styles or any instruments that are not suitable? What do the members think of contemporary Christian music and the regular traditional music in church? Do we need to make changes or not? How does the Christian Music affect their spiritual lives? Finally, what do the members think of what the Bible has to say about praise and worship? My method has been to interview four persons, who all are members in the Seventh-day Adventist church in Malmö. Beside literature and magazines, I have also listened to DVD sermons and searched on the Internet and in the Bible, to find out what others have to say about praise and worship.Syftet med denna studie är att kartlägga vad lovsång betyder för olika församlingsmedlemmar. Vad anser de om dagens tillbedjan? Finns det musikstilar som inte bör finnas med i gudstjänsten? Eller finns det instrument som inte är passande i gudstjänsten? Vad tycker församlingsmedlemmar om den moderna lovsången kontra den traditionella? Behöver vi göra några förändringar eller inte? Hur påverkar den kristna musiken deras andliga liv? Och till sist, vad har de för syn på Bibelns lovsång? Min metod har varit att intervjua fyra personer som alla är medlemmar i Adventkyrkan i Malmö.

Bakgrund för studien är ett intresse för filmens förmåga att spegla ett samhälle och ge uttryck för olika hegemoniska ideologier. Sverige är ett litet land med en liten, till stora delar statssubventionerad, filmindustri och det är därför intressant att se vilken ideologi som uttrycks i de filmer som belönas med Guldbaggar och därmed framhävs som filmer av god kvalitet.Syftet är att genom analys av tre utvalda prisbelönta filmer försöka ge exempel på hur i Sverige rådande hegemoni och dess ideologi avspeglas i svensk film.Frågeställningen lyder: går det att spåra några trender i uttryck av ideologi och hegemoni i studiet av En kärlekshistoria (1970 - Roy Andersson), Pelle Erövraren (Bille August) och Lilja 4-ever (2002 - Lukas Moodysson).Studiens utförande har skett i formen av en innehållsanalys av filmerna med fokusering på deras tema och stil.Studiens resultat pekar på att det finns ett intresse bland dagens svenska filmmakare att skildra och kritisera sin samtid i större utsträckning än vad 1980-talets regissörer gjorde, något som dagens film verkar ha gemensamt med 1960- och 1970-talsfilmen. Hidden away in the pristine landscape on the northeast shore of the Dominican Republic, the remote village of Miches is on the verge of shifting its economic resource base from traditional fishing into what could become an international model for sustainable tourism. The aim of this thesis was to produce a vision of a waterfront park near the center of the village; demonstrating concept-based landscape design that reflects the goals of sustainable development originating from the local incentive structure. A composite landscape analysis and design concept both served to inform and guide the design work, which was executed through model building, hand drawings, and production of a visual presentation in the format of an architectural competition entry. The design concept, All invited, signifies the distinction between the development that is about to take place in Miches and the otherwise common all-inclusive resorts, where tourists are set apart from the local community and spend most of their time within the fenced-off premises of the hotel. All invited also captures the typical Dominican hospitality, and mirrors the aspirations of turning Miches into a safe and welcoming place for visitors. The result is a public park design that is equally inviting local residents as it is to tourists, and where the unique qualities of the site are emphasized without being exploited.

Thesis completed by Johan Arvidsson, Alex Rasooli and Pontus Winroth, students at master program Product development and Design at the School of Engineering in Jönköping Sweden. The project comprises 30 ECTS credits and was carried out during the semester in the autumn of 2007.It was carried out in cooperation with Eksjöverken AB, subcontractor within the truck industry with special knowledge within the area of complicated machinery construction work. Job initiators at Eksjöverken were Mats Svanberg and Kjell Nygard. Dag Holmgren was acting as a tutor from the university. The task was to develop tools for trucks, primary toolboxes but in case of time also under run protection.

Sammanfattning Syftet var att belysa den fysiska vårdmiljöns betydelse för vårdtagarens välbefinnande. Frågeställningen löd; Hur belyser litteraturen vårdtagarens upplevelse av den fysiska vårdmiljöns betydelse för välbefinnandet? Metoden var en litteraturstudie och sökning av vetenskapliga artiklar har skett på databaserna Cinahl, Academic Search Elite, Emerald, Springer Link, ADAM, BYGGDOK, Pubmed, IDEAL, Kluwer, Libris, ScienceDirect och Scirus. Sökord som används både separat och tillsammans inom samtliga databaser var health facility, environment, architecture, design, art, surroundings, ward, garden, välbefinnande/well-being, hospital, health, light, noise. Med sökmotorer har vi sökt på nämnda sökord och namn på olika forskare, samt MeSH- sökverktyg för översättning av svenska ord till engelska.

Title: Inspiration according to teachers and students at the Academy of Music in Malmö. The importance of inspiration is vital to teachers and students at the Academy of Music in Malmö, but what can we do to make it remain constant? The purpose of this study was to un-derstand the differences and similarities between teachers and students according to inspiration. The data was collected through qualitative interviews with three students and three teachers and went after that through a comprehensive analysis which resulted in four main categories: definitions, uninspiring factors, inspiration to creativity and the source of inspiration. The results showed that definitions are subjective but that lust is truly a significant part of learning and music performance.

As the contemporary discourse surrounding urbanism is almost exclusively focusing on aspects of density and traditional urban qualities, it entrenches notions of what constitutes a proper city and countryside. But beyond this urban-rural dichotomy is another highly contemporary landscape. A territory usually mentioned as sprawl, peri-urban, wasteland, edge city, etc. Although its existence is due to mobilization, telecommunications, globalization and other phenomena of modern life, it is a landscape without an own name or place in public awareness.This thesis provides a case study of how to map and intervene in such a landscape, specifically along the border between Malmö and Burlöv municipalities in southern Sweden. Its structure is composed of a sequence of three parts:1 Spatial Conditions:Divided up in the sections Network, Fringe and Void.

Syftet med detta arbete har varit att undersöka hur Monroes idéer (Monroe, 1997) om en framgångsrik skola fungerar på en svensk skola. För att få reda på mer om framgångsrika skolor, har jag studerat aktuell forskning i ämnet. Jag har även besökt en skola i Sverige där man använder sig av denna skolmodell. Jag har valt att använda mig av kvalitativ forskning, där jag har använt intervjuer, samt observation för att samla in data. Bland resultaten kan nämnas att Monroes modell som innebär en stark ledare och tydligare regler ungerar bra på Hjällboskolan som jag har studerat närmare.

The business cycle of the wood flooring branch is currently high however that situation may not be sustainable. In a possible future weaker business climate, the importance of marketing becomes accentuated for firms that aim to maintain their sales levels. We can see trends that competition among the Swedish and foreign manufactures is already stepping up. The intent of this study is to establish marketing guidelines for floor- and molding manufacturers, so they can establish a clearer brand image in DIY retail outlets. By comparing the approach of sports- and DIY stores to brand and product placement, this study aims to bring new knowledge to the DIY branch for improved consumer and product handling.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att belysa hur medvetna musiklärare är om jämställdhetsperspektivet i sin undervisning, om det finns skillnader mellan manliga och kvinnliga lärare och hur lärarna ser på de budskap och värderingar de förmedlar i sin undervisning ur ett jämställdhetsperspektiv. Undersökningen genomfördes på en skola med hjälp av observationer och kvalitativa intervjuer av berörda lärare. De resultat jag kom fram till var att lärarna, en manlig och kvinnlig, i stort sett behandlade sina elever på ett jämställt sätt. Det förekom tendenser till upprätthållande av traditionella könsmönster, men i liten skala. Av resultaten har jag dragit slutsatsen att jag i princip har fått svar på mina forskningsfrågor, men att det skulle behövas mer forskning på området och i större skala.Music teachers at the upper level of compulsory school - A case study of two teachers in a gender perspectiveThe purpose of this article is to illustrate music teachers awareness of the gender perspective in their teaching, if there are any differencies between male and female teachers and how the teachers think about the messages and values they share with the students in their teaching in a gender perspective.
